This number called me and left no message. I don't answer calls to which I don't know the number, if it's important, then they'll leave a message.

I had 2 AMEX cards(1 corporate, 1 personal) over 8 years ago which I closed, so I have no business with AMEX.

As a business owner, I will not accept AMEX. Discover card gives basically the same benefits at lesser rates.

After reading on here, I know not to return the call regardless.

I'm a bit miffed by this!  I in fact called a real AmEx number to get the low down because of these posts.  People are posting incorrect info regarding this number.

The number, is in fact for AmEx, probably an outsourced number, but it's when your late, or behind, just as our payment had not been processed by the stupid bank over the weekend.

Anyway... call the 800 number on your card to be safe, but just know - this number isn't some scam.

This is also associated with two other numbers for the same thing.  It's a double number that might appear on your ID box as 602-537-9012  and 623-492-6031.  BOTH are in Arizona, and I in fact confirmed them with the AmEx representative!

Hey Mac! Are you this scam artist? This guy asked me for my info and I told him not only do I not have an AMEX card but with the info he was asking for, he could find out anything including my med co records. BE VERY CARFUL WHO YOU TELL YOUR INFO TO!!!

I don't have AMEX card and I considered that perhaps someone is putting my number on their credit card application then when they default on payments the collection agency starts calling MY number and the credit card user continues their life in peace.

Or maybe somebody has all these credit cards and they USED to have my phone number and they never updated so all their credit card companies are calling me now.

The fact that I am getting all these calls is annoying. If they ask me for private information, then that si something different.

I read the posts saying these are fraud alert calls.  Nah.  I think the caller will post here that it is a fraud alert service so people will answer the calls.

No way does a fraud alert service operate like this. I have had legit fraud alert phone calls when traveling and the caller ID is from the company itself and they tell me they have frozen my card which I already know because I can't use my card and I have to lift the freeze by reassuring them that I am traveling and I am in possession of my card.  Voila. Freeze lifted.

I got a call at 11:15am, didn't answer it and didn't get a message. When I called back I got a lady with a sweet southern accent who acknowledged they had several calls today from people who received calls but do not have AMEX accounts. She apologized, took down my phone number and said she'd have it removed from their call list.

Got a call on the cell from 336.393.7010 at 8:17 AM, PDT today (6/16/10).  I have both an AmEx green card account and an Optima account.  Didn't answer, as didn't recognize number and caller ID merely showed "North Carolina".  No msg left.  INTELIUS shows 336.393.7010 registered to STEPHEN THOMAS, 3403 OLD ACRE COURT, GREENSBORO, NC 27410.  Whitepages.com confirms address with this name but shows phone number 336.393.0503, and no references to the 336.393.7010 number.

Only call phone numbers on your card or in your card literature. HiHoSilver sounds like a scam artist or accomplice.

Received a call from this number.  Initially, no one was there, but after I'd said "Hello" several times, someone came on the line saying it was Delta Sky Miles Fraud Department (American Express).  She stated that chargesd had been made in the Netherlands to my newly issued card.  I don't even have the card yet, nor do I know the number on the card.  She said she was going to deactivate the card and would put me in touch with the right people to have the card reissued with a new number.  After being on hold for about five minutes I was disconnected.

I am uncomfortable with this sequence of events, and will contact Amex to verfiy these events and decline acceptance of the card.

Got a call from this number today.  Having a new cell, I hit the wrong button and cut off the call.  It only showed the 3363937010  Unknown.  I never return these calls, I only google them.

Don't know who this could be, I do have an AX card, but it is always paid monthly.

Since I had an "affair" for two months with a man I met on Match.com and who checked out to be a scammer from Nigeria, I'm now getting phone calls on my cell that I haven't received before. So, if you gave out your cell phone number on any social or dating websites to anyone, there's a chance that person will continue to scam you any which way he or she can. Internet scammers are out there by the thousands if not 10's of thousands. You need to think twice who you give your cell phone/address out to. Make sure the person is legit. The best way to do that is to meet him in public. (Just my two cents.)

This phone number appeared on my caller ID when a person called from "American Express". After the first call, I told them that they had to prove to me that they were AmEx. Each call was for a person with a similar name to mine, but not mine. the first caller asked me for the last 4 of my social. The 2nd person hung up when I asked "who?", and the third person said they would remove my # when I said that named person does not live here.

This is American Express. THey have one of THE BEST Cutomer security protection AND collection systems going. If AMEX is calling you, and you don't have an AMEX account, consider the possibility that you have been a vistim of IDENTITY THEFT and that someone else is out to ruin your credit.
If you do have an AMEX account, they call you if you have any charges that don't match your normal spending patterns, are past due, or anything else within their security algorythm that doesn't right.

Not in my case. I have NEVER had an AMEX and currently have no credit cards. So it's more of a sales call than a fraudulent activity alert call center.

I've been getting these calls and haven't answered.  I Googled the numbers and have found similar message boards saying the same thing as this one.  I looked online to make sure my account was okay and it appeared to be but I went ahead and called the number on the back of my card.  I told them that these numbers have been calling me and the first thing out of the representative's mouth was "You didn't give them any information did you?"  I told him no and he said "Good, don't.  Your account is fine and the only American Express people that will call are the folks from collections - which yours is fine - or to warn you about fraud".  So DO NOT CALL BACK THE NUMBER AND GIVE THEM ANY INFO.  It's a scam.  If you're concerned about your account, just call the number on the back of your credit card or the number on their website.

Just got a call, According to the date on my card (1984) I have been a member for 26 years yet in those 26 years (I'm only 25 years old, nice "Member since" mistake on Amex's part, I've actually been a member for like 4 years) I've never gotten a call like this.

Suppose I will call the # on my card...maybe they just noticed after 3 weeks (just received a new card) the Member since mistake...

A lady called me with this number saying they were American Express but did not reply immediately after I said hello.  It wasn't until I asked again saying my name that the lady replied.  The only problem is that I have never registered my work phone with AE, so there is no possible way they could know this was me.  I responded by saying they had the wrong person and she hung up.

The call is most likely a scam to phish for info.

Also received a call this Saturday morning from this 336-393-7010 # but they did not leave a message; I called my AMEX # on the back of my Gold card to verify the # and a representative from AMEX told me that it is one of their call centers & they called me by mistake and apologized for the call. When in doubt... just call AMEX using the Customer Service # on the back of your card. Hope this helps!

This is an update.  I realized that I had also gotten two missed calls from 954-503-1800 and looking for that number around the internet also shows a lot of red flags.  I am more convinced now than ever that this is a scam number.  Not sure why there are people saying they called AMEX, and the card company responded saying it is legit.  I will call them myself to see.
