Called the number back using #67 in front of the number. This supposedly shows your number as private or anonymous. Doesn't really matter one way or the other because they already have my number. That being said........I was prompted to press 1 to leave my number so a representative could call me back.  The  number I gave?  336-698-3190

I received a call from this number and blocked it and have not been called back. They were raising money for a local F.Fighter Union organization.

Angus I don't know where you heard cops get "Hazard Pay" in most cases Its the opposite. Officers even in more dangerous assignments get no hazard pay. In a very few large cities like Los Angeles members of the SWAT and Bomb squads get some extra pay but those are few and far between. If you check you will find of 12,500+ local police departments in the USA, 75% of those employ less than 10 officers.  I have no idea where you live , but I will bet if you call them and ask how much Hazardous pay they get for being a Cop  they will laugh at you. Say what you want but most of these men and women do not do the job for the money. As a matter of fact for a lot of officers in these locations and smaller agencies the only Hazard Pay they get is in the form of food stamps.

I agree many Law Enf./ Firefighter organizations contract with companies that do fund raisers. These groups hire local people and unfortunately they will use the name of a specific agency or even an officer who has been killed when they are told to give the name of the organization or association that contracted them. We never received less than 60%, usually it was 75%. otherwise why bother 95% would be ludicrous. We no longer use them in my area because of their out of control tactics, and use concerts, raffles, and BBQ's to raise the funds instead.

Also depending on what Town, City, County, and State you work in determines what the survivors get in death benefits. Some states have super survivors benefits, others do not. We use the funds to help support the families, many with younger kids, several years after an officer dies. As for retirement benefits, again some (mostly in Northern areas with Unions) have excellent benefits but most are the same as teachers and other State and Local employees. Also usually 5 to 7% of the officers own salary goes into that pot every year as well so its not a freebie. Many agencies like mine chose not to deduct and sworn officers will not get Social Security benefits, so many like me also put what that deduction would be in a 401 K.

It would be nice if those like Angus would check the facts before commenting on what they have heard or read somewhere. I have heard the hazard pay crap for years so its nothing new. It usually comes from people writing to newspapers who do not like being arrested or have some other beef with L.E.  In my old age I am getting tired of hearing it and decided to comment for once.  THANKS to all of you who appreciate and support all the Public Safety boys and girls.

Called this morning. ID said Local Call Area. Not my area code. Young male left a message, saying "is Chris there?"  Did not state reason for call.

Three calls in two days, no message.

I've received a few calls from this number in the past few days.  I did not pick up the first few times but when I picked up the last time, there was silence so I hung up.  That usually indicates an auto-dialer so it probably was a solicitation call.

Called and ask for me and said he was from North Carolina Sate Police ; I told them my "mom" was cooking dinner.

I keep getting a call from this number;  when I answer no one says anything.  I am so tired of this.  If they have something to say, say it & get it over with!

called today; left no message. Doesn't bother me because we don't pick these crazy calls up anyway. just ignore them.

Called today at 12:02 - Jul 6/2013 went to voice mail - left no message - caller ID  was "LOCAL CALL AREA"  and the tele. number - I'm in area code 704 - not a local call

Received a call from this number this morning (7/4), but no message.

Caller asked for Tracy,  told him he had the wrong number, he stated no I have the right number then began his talk about being from the North Carolina Police Association or something like that. When I tried to stop his speaking to me, he kept right on talking, I just hung up on him.

called 5pm asked for the lady of the house....i pretended like i couldnt hear them and said hello again. I have a very small voice and they thought I was a child and asked for my parents. i told them they were busy and he said okay no message ill call back later. bye

Called today, I did not recognize the number so did not answer.  No message left on answering machine.  I checked here and now that I know who it is, the number has been blocked.

Identified himself "calling for the fraternal order of police".  Didn't let him go any farther.

Finally... someone who gets it. First off cops DO get hazardous pay (in most cases) as well as very lucrative retirement plans that people like myself don't get. I also have seen my share of cops that didn't want to enforce the law (because they didn't want to do the paper-work). Not all cops are like this but I've seen many who are!
Also these types of solicitors usually are collecting 95% for their own pay and 5% (or less) actually goes to what they are using as an excuse to fleece your money from you. I told them to send me printed information in the mail since they obviously had my address as well... they sent me a bill for a $50 contribution thanking me for my support. LOL... waste of postage and a bumper/window decal... does that tactic really work? They are only playing on peoples "weaknesses" for profit and call it non-profit because they spend every penny on their salaries and added bonuses until there is nothing left.

Continue to call me after me telling them to not call and remove me from the list 3 times.  Some one wanting money for the Police Officers Association for those injuried or killed in the line of duty.  Piss on them, get insurance.  I was in the military or 25 years, knew what I was getting into as do every policer officer. If they get injuried or hurt or even death its not up to me to support them or their damn family or to burry them.

Received call from unknown NC Call.  I blocked 'em.

I recieved a call from this number this morning did not leave a message, the caller ID said it was a  local call area. My area code is 910 and the area code for the call was 336 which is 300 miles from each other and it is a long distance call.

They called this morning again. No message. I have no debt whatsoever. I pay all my credit cards before the payments are due. These collection outfits get the name of the defaulter and trace back their old address (where the offender lived years ago) and then do a reverse check of the address with a new telephone number. This is awful. If I had the power I'd sue both the collector and the debtor. But for the debtor defaulting the collector would not be in business. Even the banks and credit card companies are at fault. In order to get more customers they spread their net far and wide without paying attention tothe customers' credit score. If you do not issue credit cards to those whose credit scores are below 700 then there wouldn't be all this trouble to the innocent bystanders.
