I constantly get phone calls both at work and at home from a man by the name of Charles Green stating that he is with PCS Law Firm.  He states that I owe over $3000.00 in loans.  The calls come from just the numbers of like 01, 347-273-6028, that number is now disconnected and he is calling from an 818 area code, he is from India, I believe.  He threatens me quit often and tells me that this isn't anyone's business but his and mine and that I shouldn't involve my boyfriend.  This Indian man calls me no joke about 100 times a day everyday.  Charles tells me to send the money by green dot money pack, or by Western Union and it is always a different person that he wants me to send it too in Cookville, Tn.  I mentioned to Charles that before I sent any money that I was going to investigate the Company and he got really mad at me.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

.... and "they" answer to what name again? Is it a debt collector or a consolidator? Any explanation for the illegal threats reported in this thread? You sure paying some unverified PDL debt could "improve [your] credit score" without removal of trade lines?

yes april carter... its not a scam... they helped me to pay all of my outstanding payday loans.... last year i had 3 payday loans.... and i paid total outstanding amount on single day which was $1038.83, for all three loans.... it helped to improve my credit score.... i received the payment receipt for the payment also....

Who is making these calls?

I received a cal from 347-273-6028. This man has a very heavy indian accent and claims he is Shawn Miller, Attorney for Crime and Prevention in New york. He is very threatening and rude. I called our local police and gave them the number. The police called me back and told me that the number is part of a scam. These people that are doing this are fraud. I also called the police department in New York, New York and they looked up the number and found that there is no address for the number. It must be a pre-paid phone. Don't give them any information because this is extortion and is a crime. Anyone who tells you to fax your information and copy of DL is fraud. I have reported them to the FBI Tips, Attorney General, Secret Service, and Federal Trade Commission. Dont be part of this SCAM>

I received a threat from these people.  They called our office and asked for one of our employees.  When I told them not to call this number again, and if they wanted to talk to this other person, they would need to call their personal phone or cell.  These people called our office line 5 times.  We have recorded 2 of these calls.  I had a direct threat made against me.  What should I do?

I have been recieving calls from this number all day. They have been calling my husbands cell phone, my mothers house and my house phone. they have been very rude, swearing at us, threatening us. how do i get these calls to stop. i have tried calling the local police but they dont seem like they want to help because they havent call me back or even come to my house.

i received a call tonite saying that i had 3 federal charges against me and that i owed $599.60 on a payday loan from sept. i told the guy he was crazy and even looked up my bank ifo and gave him the date i received the loan and when it was payed in full. i asked him who the debt was with and what day i received the loan. he could not answer and just said june till oct. then the other placed that called first said i had to be in court tomorrow in california. i live in indianapolis. lol this place is a joke.

I received a voice mail from a man with a strong Indian accent, he identified himself as Brandon Williams threatening to cancel my (?) social security number? or something like that - very difficult to understand. When I called back, no one answered the call. Only a general voice mail answered.

Same thing just happened to me. I hung up on him and he called back and left a message threatening that I only had 30 minutes to call him back or he would call my boss and I might get fired.

THIS IS A SCAM. The Better Business Bureau has released many alerts on this scam, google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector" and these scams vary a bit in style but they all want you to send them money. Don't give out info or money.

He threatened my home, and my job.

When I looked up this number, I could not find any reference. I also could not find any department named Crime and Prevention Office.
