I have worked here. It's a fundraising company that collects for multiple charities.  They take a large portion of the donation to their overhead.  Best to donate directly.  The one good thing about donating through these guys is that they keep people employed collecting donations.  It's also more convenient than hunting down different charities.

This post from Oct 13, 2009 seem accurate.  I believe they told me the head guy was "Joe":

This company is a ducking scam, I've worked and managed this company for years, we smoke pot, drink alcohol and scam good people out of hard earned money, joe digregorio is the owner he is an a***ole, call him directly and tell him so 718 256 8883

p.s. In a Philadelphia, PA suburb, they have a ton of phone number that they use.  All seem to be in the area code because they don't show an area code.

All begin with 814:

814-7709
814-7693
814-7717
814-7725
814-7699

Probably others.  I've blocked a bunch but Verizon only lets me block 10 numbers.  So many *holes, so little blocking ability.

Oh, some on this board suggested the do not call registry.  Since they are a "charity" (well a 501c3, if they are to be believed) does the do not call registry apply to them?

Better, are they a legitimate 501c3?  I'd love to see a lawyer sue them out of existence, but they'd probably just rename and pop up the next day.

Pushy Bronx people keep calling.  You can tell them to put you on the do not call list, but they keep calling.

Then, they'll say, oh, we put you on the do not call list for the Podunk Police Department, but we're calling for the Mayberry Fire Department.

Tell them to put you on all their #$@!! do not call lists!

Their incoming # is 888-775-7789.

Nominal top guy is "Richardo Phillips", but I doubt it.

This place is a total scam!!! The owner straight down to the managers are serious drug addicts!!! They scam senior citizens out of their hard earned money. They hire young high school kids to do their dirty work. They also have a downstairs office where they conduct their drug use and drug dealing. I have no idea how this place is still in business.

This place is a joke, they abruptly make employees sign bogus contracts stating that if they do not accomplish designated hours or come in late theyre pay will be cut for the week, on top of that they do not allow students to work if they can not come in Mon-Fri at 5 o clock promptly..also when managment was in flux and a  african american was awarded the position, they made a fuss that this is the first time in the companys short lived history that this happened and the said manager thought he was empowered saying " whats good, im the first black manager ni#%a"..blatant disrespect is showed for both employees eho do not perform up to standards as well as trash talk all people that they call

Non-profit Organization
Is this company still bugging people?

Menacola Marketing does raise money for about a dozen or so 501c3 non-profit organizations: cancer, police, fire, etc.. However, the amount that goes to the charity is cut to s***. A majority of the income is used for operating expenses. I'm not quoting any numbers, because no one at that company - aside from Joe, knows the actual figure. Jason Beck (see above) is right. Joe owns two locations, one on Oriental Ave and one on New Utrecht Ave. And the operating expenses includes his deep pockets and those of the top level managers.

But it's very clear that this is a hustle. Their minimum donation is $15; you would be surprised the amounts people fork over. Try asking the rep "How much of the donation goes to the charity?" and see what the response is! Listen carefully. They also ask you to commit to donate an amount on the phone. Most reasonable people want to review the material that you send them, before making their decision. The reason they give you is because they want to save on printing and shipping costs!

Keep in mind that you are not obligated to send them money when you get their request in the mail, even if you promised to send them money on the phone. This is not a binding contract because there is no consideration.

Feel free to punk them. When they call, let them pitch to you. Don't get too eager, but when it's time. Do the "Gold" - their top level. The levels are Bronze $15/Silver $35/Gold $100 unless you've donated before. Maybe see if you can give a little bit more. See how far you can push that number until they start doubting if you are for real.

If you ask them to remove you from their calling list; the rep will actually follow through with it. The problem is, there are hundreds of calling lists! And each one of those calling lists gets recycled until each and every number gets a pitch then declines, or is disconnected.

The reps are told that the calling lists are always fresh. Managers swear up and down that these are brand new numbers. But each time, the person will answer and say "Stop calling me! You call me every night!" But the rep on the line will swear to them that they've never called them before. The truth is, those calling lists are reused and the reps don't know it. If you don't pick up, you're gonna get called again. If you donate, you're gonna get called again (but now your minimum donation will go up).

If you listen to the whole pitch, and still don't want to donate, your number is taken off that list. If the number is disconnected or can't receive calls, it is taken off that list. If you request to be removed from their calling list, you will be taken off that list.

The loophole, is the endless supply of lists! Your number might appear hundreds of times. Requesting to be removed from the list, only removes you from the one you're on at the time. The problem is that the rep has no ability to do a universal remove; just the list that he or she has in front of them.

They squeeze every number on that list. If you don't pick up, you're more likely to get called again soon. Pick up, and ask to be removed. Black list the incoming numbers. Or just punk them into thinking they'll get money from you.

Was getting a call from this number.  Called the carrier, Broadview Networks at 800-276-2384 and reported it.  I suggest you all do the same.  Make sure you tell them you are not a customer, but the harassing phone calls are coming from one of their customers and that the problem is widespread.

I get calls from this number almost every day.  Some sort of charity collection.  The last time they called I said nothing until they talked - I then told them not to call me anymore.  They called two more times and just hung up.  This is an abusive group that must be stopped!  If anyone gets a call from them just tell them "don't call anymore" and hang up....
