This number called me after I was trying to correspond to rent a house in Maryland. He insisted I only send an $1100 money order, wouldn't accept Paypal, and said he'd send me the keys once the payment went through. He also claimed he was from Decatur, Illinois but called from the 347-286-1571 number which is a landline in New York.

It's so sad that they're people out there like this. What's even worse is that some single mother or someone really trying to get ahead in life or starting over whatever and might only have enough money to pay $600 for rent might fall for this and then they're out of all the money they just had to put a roof over their families heads.

Scammers like to harvest online sites to see if anybody wants something. They then phone or email those posters with offers that are difficult to refuse. In this scam, the scammer tells you that they have your dream home or apartment ready for you to rent or lease. All you have to do is send them some up-front money via Green Dot or Western Union (or similar) to lock in the deal, before somebody else gets it. If you send money, you will have to wait a LONG time for the deal, because the scammer has taken your money and run. If you sent any critical ID information, your ID may be compromised.

Is it the house in Belleville? I sent an email earlier today and got a response that he's in Illinois, and wants some basic information about myself. But said I could call 1st. I decided to google 1st and found this blog. The picts don't match up to the description of house.

They tried to steal my Iphone for sale on Craig's list. They sent phony invoices from Paypal (I DID NOT CLICK ON THEIR PALPAY LINK). I logged into my Paypal account on a separate page, no money was deposited.

They will send you phony websites, and phony receipts from Paypal. They wanted me to ship my Iphone5  to Lagos Nigeria and give them the shipping track# before they would realease the funds at PayPal.

WOW! He called me today  about my new Iphone 5 on craigslist for sale $400 with two other numbers and/or associates. Below are the two emails they used and three phone numbers. I reported the false invoices they sent me (from paypal) to the FBI (Complaint ID: I1310071317023442) at IC3.gov

This person or persons (smiling) sent me a FAKE Paypal receipt that my funds $400 (selling Iphone 5 on craig's list) were being HELD by paypal until submit the tracking number for his fiance in Lagos, Nigeria.

This number just text me too 347-286-1571 asking for me to ship the item to his wife as bday present and he can pay me via paypal.  im not falling for this scam!!!!!!!!!!

This guy texted me about an item i was selling as well. He would only use paypal and wouldn't shut up about how safe it was -.-  He continued to text me even after i told him i don't have a credit card, shortly after i got a text from another person wanting to buy it- 602-753-6778. It didn't sound right so I googled the number and they're both known scammers..... Thank you guys for making this known to everyone

This person just tried this with me however I told the person I do not ship anything without payment in full. The person has also been harassing me about the shipment all day so far.

This guy did the same thing to me today, still using the same number.  Thank god I got wise to it!

This person still uses the same number. They tried to rip me off yesterday. He or she sends fake paypal payment emails to try to pay fot craigslist items.
