I just got off the phone with this guy asking me to send him money in order for him to send me a set of keys,  just to view the house. I mentioned to him about his name being mentioned on all of these sites and that I will not be sending him any money and that I was aware of his scam. He said I just scared him and he hung up on me. Saw an ad on Zillow about an apartment at 12510 Queens Blvd. #1023, Queens NY 11414. I sent an email to to modern_theory001@yahoo.com. and received a reply this morning from Craig Hampson. The email he sent was word for word as the others in this post and the phone number was also the same. I did give him my information and then decided to check him out and found out it was a scam. Should have known it was too good to be true. Thanks everyone, you saved me.

I just go the same number and similar response from CL - the house exists but it is listed for $500k so that was a red flag considering he only wanted $1,000 for it. The person is real, Bruce Edgelow in Calgary CA, however I just checked this website and sure enough it is BS. here is his response:

Note; the move-in cost is the total amount of 1 month rent and a security deposit. As a very busy person I would only take my time to fly down to the US for you to preview the house, only if you accept to pay the above move-in cost after seeing the house.
FURNITURE : House is fully furnished but if you are moving in with your furniture there is a storage room in the unit where you could keep our furniture.

I got the same message about a house on 14 Howard Ave , Freeport . His name is supposemly Craig Hampson as well . I was very angry , cause it was exactly what i wanted . He was asking for 2 grand .

I almost got scammed too!! But I started to google things and found this out . The deed and all the other info he wrote ... Everything didn't match !! He sent me the same e mail just different address and he went by the name of Craig hampson. This should be stopped !!

I got a listing from Craig list about an apartment for rent in North Yonkers and the name of the person is Craig Hampson.The wording was the same as the listing you received.  But my apartment  is in North Yonkers NY which sells for $559,000 and he was willing to rent for less than the monthly mortgage payment.   I decided to pop his number on the web and this came up.  Thank goodness.  I did tell him when  he called I needed to see the place first before we did any business.  I guess I almost got sucker punched.
