I have received about a dozen insistent calls recently through Jan 2014 from this David Wilson from the phone number above. He and his cohorts keep telling me that they represent Microsoft, and insist  that I open up my PC so that they can guide me to protect against hackers! Oh really?  Unfortunate, unsuspecting consumers could easily fall prey to these scam artists, who sound like they're from Pakistan/BanglaDesh, and all they want is to hack into your systems to get important banking passwords, and credit info. When I checked with Microsoft CS, they had never heard of these scamsters!

I got a blocked call from a person claiming that he was from the Windows Service Changer Department and that they received an error message that my computer downloaded many very dangerous viruses. He wanted me to log into my computer right away. I asked him how he knew that it was my computer and how he had my phone number. He told me that this is they were monitoring it on the internet and this is the number I had registered. I asked him why his phone number was blocked, and he told me it was because he was calling from the internet, not from a phone. I asked him what his company was, and he kept saying, "Windows Service Changer Department." I kept pressing for a company name and the phone number. He finally said, wait, and after a minute's wait, gave me number 347-321-8983. I told him that I would be reporting the number to the police and hung up.

These same people called me and said my computer was malfunctioning. I told them that wasn't possible since I own a Mac, no Microsoft, and my computer was out being worked on. Then they wanted to know if I had another computer at home. This call came at 12:30 am!!! That had me furious to begin with because they woke me up  Where do they get our phone numbers?  I don't give out any information to people about my computer at all, let alone banking or personal numbers! Who do we report these thing to?

This guy called me AT MIDNIGHT. Extremely heavy accent. Called from a blocked number and said that I had malware on my computer and that he was very concerned. I asked him angrily why he was calling at midnight. He TOLD me I had been sleeping, and asked if I was in front of a computer at the moment, which I was. I told him it was late and that I would call him in the morning to that he would give me a name and number. Made him feel comfortable because now I wanted information from him. Gave me this number. As soon as I hung up I called the non emergency number for my local police department, who said that since I was smart and didn't give in I prevented a crime and there was nothing they could do but have an officer fill out an information report.
Maybe I'll call him back and boot up one of my old computers, wipe all sensitive data off of it, play his game, and catch him in the act of a crime so he finally gets whats coming.

I got a call from Anonymous saying he is from Microsoft Tech department saying my compute is infected and at risk. He said, he is constantly receiving error messages from my computer. He wanted me to log in right away and he would guide me out of it. He said the hard drive was going to crash. By the way, I told him it would take me 30 min to get to the computer. I asked him to give his phone number and contact and so he gave this number. He also gave some CLS ID of my computer apparently. I am yet to verify it though. He seemed heavily accented and told would call me back in 1/2 hr. It did not seem genuine to me. I have never had micorsoft calling me in a decade while I have had several computer crashes.

Someone called from this # said they were from Microsoft. I asked how he had gotten  number and he claimed they were doing checks on people who had been infected when I advised them I had Norton to protect me from that they said Norton does not protect there system so they needed to get into my computer to scann for things that might be infecting my computer. When I pointed out how do I know you are who you said you are he said turn on your computer. I used an old lap top I don't use anymore & he got into it so that convenced me. My wife works in the banking industry and told me to contact my bank that is was a scam. I called Microsoft & they confirmed it was a scam. It's pretty clear that this was a scam, do not give any info, much less a CC number.

I got a call from block number ('unknown') - they told me they have been receiving a message that my computer is infected with virus that has corrupted all the software installed in my computer. They guide me to window even viewer and showed some error messages (which I know is always there in all computers). Then they asked me to allow them to connect to my computer from remote.  I was suspicious so I asked for the company name and phone number - and they said the company name is win IT solution and number is 347-321-8983. I told them I will call them back and hang up. When I google the phone number, I saw these postings. Thank you all who shared/post their experience and safe many people like me form being scammed.

Bottom line up front: It's a computer "protection" scam, so don't give any info and don't believe a word they say.

Received a call on my cell phone, caller id was "Unknown". Caller had a strong accent and was somewhat difficult to understand.

Got the same pitch about how my "Microsoft Windows Operating System Computer" was sending error messages to the Microsoft service center. I got a name, "Jason Murphy", the number above, and an address in the UK which was hard to understand (might not be accurate):
36 myron Care Magistrate
Queen Victoria Road
South City London, UK

I asked why if he was in the UK did he have a US area code, and then said that their US branch was in Brooklyn.

When he told me my computer was infected, I asked him what it was infected with, which viruses or trojans were causing the error. he didn't have an answer because that wasn't on his script.

I asked how he had gotten my (cell phone) number and he claimed that I had used it when I registered my "Microsoft Window Operating System Computer". When I pointed out that I had had my computer longer than my cell phone, he decided to hang up. It's pretty clear that this was a scam, do not give any info, much less a CC number.

Prank Call
Received a call from Allan today stating he was working for Windows Service Center. Allan further explained that my computer was at risk that I had downloaded several malware programs that are deadly to my computer.  He wanted me to download a software to allow remote access to my computer and this is when I began to get nervous.  I hung up on him and he called me right back so fast and asked, "Why did you hang up on me, Ma'am?"  I told him that I don't trust him so give me your name and number so I can call you back. He gave me his name and number and asked me to wait on the line for his supervisor, so I did.  As I were waiting, I typed in the number on google and found myself on this site.  I hung up quick.

Allan had me hit ctrl + r and enter cmd, eventvr, assoc and then he recited the clsid#....It was scary.  I hope I didn't do anything to my computer.  Watch out for this phone call!

Same thing just happened.  Same phone number given when I asked where he was calling from.  The funny thing is my computer had just crashed that morning the first time ever, so I listened.  He had me pull up the "user" box and wanted me to enter a code after my name...guessing that would give him access!  Before entering anything, I asked him to hold on a minute and researched the phone number and here I am.  Told him I just saw all the warnings of this number and someone asking to do that from "Windows".  I hung up!  I then called the number back and it was an answering machine!  Scary!

Received a lengthy call reporting that the caller was from windows service which has found that my computer has a virus and needs to be repaired. He was very persistent and spoke with a strong accent. I asked him a lot of questions and even said straight to him that I did not believe he worked for Microsoft. He said I could go to his website to verify which I said I would not do.  He then gave me this number to call back to verify that it was legitimate.  I said I didn't have the computer at home right now to see if he would give up, but even then, he just asked when he could call back as he was worried that my computer was at severe risk! Is is scary how persistent this guy was. I'm sure they fool a LOT of people! I wish I was a hacker and could transfer a virus to THEM!
