I got a call on my cell from this number today. No message left. Added to blocked list. It appears that this number has not been used for awhile judging by the posts above. 2011 was the last year until the post from "Not You" stating that it is a possible lead scam. It appears that the fake bill collector is done for now.

Don't give up. This is a well known scam so while the dummies at your bank may not have heard about this scam, there are others who have. See the list in my reply to Christina. Google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
1. File a local police report detailing how you were scammed and the runaround with your bank. File as many complaints as you can everywhere you can. Keep copies of your complaints.
2. Take the police report and complaints to your bank, tell them if they don't refund your money, you will report them to their regulator and sue them. Bring this 800notes page to their attention. Have them google "347-332-2431 scam" and see complaints on 800notes, whocallsme. that will show up.
3. Report the bank to their regulator and sue them.
Best of luck.

THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) and may be using bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort money or personal info for fictitious crimes.

Stated his name was alex james. Threats of jail were made. Got scared and set up.payment arrangements. Requested documentation from them and never received it. I saw money coming out of my account and filed fraud paperwork. These people sent in forged documentation to my bank stating they faxed the form to me and told the bank that I signed it. The bank accepted their form and is taking, my money. A total of 945.00. I begged my bank to call them and asked them to forward the information to them including the fax number they claimed to have faxed me the documentation at. They never did fax anything to me and I was sure the bank would honor my request. They did not. To make it worse I had to shut my account down because of these people and my bank is taking money from my new account for this scam.

I started getting phone calls from these people in August 2009. They've threatened me repeatedly, but never tell me who they're working for, just that they want $$$. I thought they were done with me; I hadn't received any calls for months. They started calling again yesterday. 12 calls so far, leaving 2 threatening voice mails. How do I make them stop. They're crazy terrorists!

Got a call at work from a "Michael Gibbs" stating that I should get a lawyer. I told him I already had one and I knew what they were up to. How do I get these guys to stop calling? Isn't there a law protecting us from stuff like this?

Received a voice mail from a person claiming to be Michael Gibbs of The Department of Law and Investigations. Heavy accent and had to play it back several times to get the name. Standard old stuff. Time sensitive matter, legal action, bla bla bla.....

I came into work today to find 2 v.m. one from this number and another from the same company but a different. The first state he was Officer John Miller of Law and Investiagations and that I had a suit against but couldn't leave the details on my voice mail and to have my record of attorney to call him back. An hour later I recieved and other call from a Mr. Anderson at Law & Investigation phone number 646-824-4197 and he stated I needed to have my attorney of record to call him back. I get 3-4 of these calls every week and I've had enough. Needless to say I will not be calling them back.
