spam caller of the day

Saw the number on my caller ID - no message left.  Called the number back and got a recording saying they were attempting to do a public interest survey and apologized for any inconvenience.  It did NOT, however, have an option to have my number removed from their call list.

Gotten 3 or 4 calls from this number in past couple of weeks.  No one appears to be on line when answered.

I'm getting those calls, too, usually with no message, and one time I picked up and didn't say anything, but the line was quiet.  One time I did get a recorded message from ConEdison, my electric provider, that I believe came from that number, asking if my power had been restored. (I had a power outage for several days due to the recent snow.) I can't be 100 percent sure it was ConEd since I wasn't home when the message was left, but the recorded message time seemed to match the Caller ID time from the 347-334-4378 number.

Did any of you recently have a power outage that you reported to your electric provider?  If so, it might by their automated system calling back to see if your power is back up and on line.

I've gotten about 5 of these on my land line in the last hour. The phone rings 3 times and that's it. Obnoxious!!

Have received a total of 12-14 calls from this number over the past 3 days.  They never leave a message.

Have received about 15 calls in the last 2 days from that number.  All quiet....  Any clue about it?
