Please don't give them any info on your acct. ss number, ect. They will bargain with you for a lower payment . They will ask you for your visa/ debit card number. They will tell you it needs to be paid ASAP so they can stop the warrant. They have received hundreds of thousand of dollars from people who think this is legit. IT IS NOT!!! They use track phones so the police / investigator can't  find there location . These are called scam artist . I am not sure how they get our info. I have tried to report this to the proper authority. Due to the shut down I have been unsuccessful . If you receive another call from this number, tell them they are being recorded and the will hang up. No government agency will ever call you on the phone. My bother in law works for home land security and this is definitely a SCAM.

I'm curious...I'm trying to to understand what type of scam these guys are trying to pull and also the common denominator between those of us who have been call. Where did they get our info? Have anyone of you ever seeked legal advice on tax matters? I'm reporting this to the FTC and Verizons fraud dept.

PS. After speaking with my husband, the guy said pretty much the same thing both Lynns & Malcolm said. They tried a scare tactic much like a high pressure timeshare salesman.lol. If you hang up now,,,we'll have to move forward!!!! Don't hang up this phone or you'll be doomed.

Yeah......so my husband just called me from work upset about some a**le calling him threatening legal action for back taxes (we do owe small pot of gold in back taxes & late fees, penalties, interest...) so my husband tried to explain that we had 45 days to respond to a letter that we received to no avail. So my husband gave me the number to call the guy back. I called back and some Indian guy answers the phone and when I told him that he had just called my husband at work and I wanted to know what he was talking about ...he hung up on me. I called back about 7 times. Finally I called the IRS number on the letter that I received from them and what do you know I get a recording saying due to the government shut down all IRS offices are closed. I pray my hubby did not give them any info like our SS#. I can't figure out the scam.

Yep, I am Lynn Henry but I live in Georgia.  Also, there are two people in this state with the same name as I have gotten her emails before and she moved to NY (according to what I seen).  I called my accountant and asked about this.  She said in order for there to be a warrant or arrest you have to have been to court with the IRS and showed willful violation to defraud them and there is no reason I would have ever been to court and haven't been.  The IRS doesn't arrest anyone and since the government is closed down, nothing they can do right now anyway.  Also, just for your information, my accountant told me that the IRS never contacts you over the phone or email as there are too many scams out there.  Their contact will always be via snail mail and mostly certified at that.  Interesting that the first contact was me and not my husband as we file joint returns and he is listed first.  Thanks for this info and I appreciate your answer.  You have a blessed day as well.  Lynn H.

The I.R.S. and the dept. of Legal Affairs are close down due to the goverment being closed. I tried to call the IRS in New York to report this and they had a recording stating they were closed. They also left a message on my phone for Lynn Henry ( not sure if thats you). I live in Tennessee. When I spoke to them they said I had 3 warrants out in my name. I ask what were they. He said tax invasion, and two other charges. There was so much back ground noise I had problems understanding him. He said his name was Daniel. He said if I hung the phone up that they would have somebody to come and arrest me on my job. He ask why didnt I respnd to the notice, I said what notice. These people are good, real good. May he rest in HELL!!! I would not even call him back if I were you. If I did say you are with the goverment. He will probably hang up on you. This is crazy, Don't give it a second thought. Have a blessed day. Lynn

I got this same call on Friday, Oct. 4th.  I actually answered the phone twice and they would never speak to me.  They called an additional 2 times and left two messages and like you, said they were from the Dept. of Legal Affairs and also said call back or call back with an attorney.  The accent was from India as I work with them and recognize the accent.  Lynn -- Let me know what you find out.

I got the same call. Also on oct. 4th, they called 5 times and said it was from legal affairs. If I didn't have time to call then have my attorney to call. It has scared me and I tried to call back and no one answered. I have never been arrested in my life. Couldn't figure out what was going on. I google the number and found out all of this was a scam. Somebody needs to stop this crap. I will call back on Monday with an attorney. I hope this helps for someone else that gets a call.

Alicia Rosario from legal affairs department called my spouse's phone.  Her accent was so heavy as to be unintelligible. from legal affairs.  I called the number and spoke with a man but the connection was so bad most of his comments were not understandable.  When asked who he was with, it was the department of legal affairs.  Every time I asked a question he would talk to someone in the background, I think as the transmission was very noisy, and then he would answer me.  Somehow I don't think this is legit.
