My wife also keeps getting a call on voice mail from an Indian speaking male that is threatning also. He goes by the name Peter Blake. He calls from 855-265-2768. I am about to answer his call and tell him to send the info to my mailing address. I also wonder if he could also try holding up tax returns if he has a ssn of my wife.

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/phantom-debt-co ... 16512428&page=1

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2012/08/bgm.shtm

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities

I never had a payday loan from the company he stated. When I start to inquiry info, he hung up on me. He stated that he has my Social Security number. He also stated that I was going to be arrested on Monday and I needed to get a lawyer. I knew it was scam. I could hear others in the background like they was in a telemarketing place. The phone kept breaking up on his end. These people need to be found and put away. I'm trying figure out how they got my personal information!!!!!

These skum bags need to get a real life.  They want to scare you into giving them your debit or credit card numbers.  Tell them that you want proof of the dept being owed.  In the USA by law dept collectors have to send out proof of a dept being owed via certified mail.  Also what law firm or agency calls from a cell phone or private number?

William Blake - English poet's name, Indian scammer's accent (somewhat "Americanized" - maybe been here for awhile) ..."superior's" name: Craig Miller, similar slightly foreign accent...claiming to be with "Global Law offices" in Brooklyn, NY, and that a lawsuit is filed against me for not paying back a payday loan, which is BS because I never got a payday loan...I looked into getting one online but never followed through, which means they got my name and phone number through a partially filled out application I started online. So, beware if you ever consider getting a payday loan online - your info is not kept confidential as may be stated...and if you ever get a call from these guys, from this number, for anything else, they don't have anything substantial on you, they're just sounding like they do - (when I told him I didn't get a loan, Miller started yelling at me insisting that I did - THAT F'N A-HOLE!)...They're probably just trying to scare you into paying them to "fix things" for you or "settle the debt" through them...Don't even bother with them, even if they may have any info on you that may be accurate, they're just casting lures, hoping someone bites - THEY GOT NOTHING... THEY ARE NOTHING.

I have received callings from 9 different numbers claiming that I owe on a payday loan and if I dont pay I will be arrested and lose my job. Just like you all have said, calling my home isnt as bad as when they call your job - thank goodness I have a great office staff who just says contact him at home.  Here are the numbers and names to warn you all:

213-289-3784  Brian Lincoln/James  (claiming to be with the Civil State Attorneys Office)
312-473-2701  Jeff Miller/Peter Jones email: lawdepartment @usa.com
707-666-7433  David Reed/Brian Lincoln
814-245-3834  couldn't understand name but he had a heavy accent
347-478-6816  Peter Jones/Greg Murphy  email: gregmurphyatt@lawyer.com
818-813-8234  Jason (who happens to be in the same office as Brian Lincoln - see above #s)
206-495-9908  couldn't understand name but he had a heavy accent
510-709-3845  Alan Nord

William Blake (as he calls himself), called my job.  This IS a scam!  What is scary is that he has my bank information....I will be changing my account info ASAP....It is against the law for a creditor to threaten you, whether you owe or not....the Fair Credit Report Act is against any type of harrassment from creditors, especially in these times...you don't even have to speak to real creditors if you ask them, in writing to contact you only in writing, they cannot harrass you with constant calling.....be careful of agreeing that you owe something if you are unsure - ask for it in writing because once you agree or accept that you owe a debt, it becomes real, even if it isn't yours....your vocal acceptance makes it a legal debt, so be CAREFUL when speaking with these so called creditors - NEVER say YES - the calls are RECORDED and they may be rigged!!!!!  BEWARE!

I have received several calls from William Blake stating that this is my final warning and that come Monday morning my account will be downloaded to local law enforcement.  After that, two officers will show up at my home or work. I spoke with a local authorities and they said it's a scam.  Someone definitely needs to do something about this harassment.

I got several calls on my cell and NINE calls at work today from this number claiming to be the Justice Department of the United States. The person on the other line had a very thick obvious Indian accent and called himself  Neil Johnson. He was rude and threatening.. Someone needs to put a stop to this...

William Blake called me and said he was with the Crime  & Investigations Bureau. I told him it is illegal to call someone at work and that he was a fraud.  As he hung up he said you  better get an attorney. I wished that 20/20 would see this, they did a report on these people and they still keep calling people and harassing

Foreign guy named William Blake has called my job several times saying I am being investigated for a crime and need to call them back immediately so that they will not have to send the authorities.  I informed him if I have a debt, send me the information, either by email or mail, that I will confirm it and make arrangements to pay the bill. He says they cannot do that because I do not have any more time.

Foreign voice, goes by the name of either Justin Hamilton, Frank Smith officer William Blake. Also call from 347-464-4065 and 347-772-1724.  When I wouldn't respond to the voicemails, they started calling my work and telling whoever answered I had committed a very serious internet crime, I owed money(which of course is false), or that I had given out information of other employees on the internet. My boss took one of the calls, put them in their place, and turfed them to security.
