Prank Call
Different number same story! I was contacted moments ago from "Virtual PC Secure" indicating my computer with Windows 7 OS was 96% corrupted (he stated that by accessing the internet other people had hacked my system and were accessing my computer whenever they wanted even when I'm not on the computer) and he could help me. Essentially just like the other claims here, however, the person who contacted me was Stephen Williams (w/a strong Indian accent) and the caller ID number he called from was 222-555-7777. He even provided a number I could call to confirm he was legit... the number was 877-632-9181.

I called the 877 number from my cell while Mr. Williams was on the landline & the person answering the phone indicated Stephen Williams was on another call (presumably w/me if he gave me his real name), meanwhile I simultaneously did a Google search for "Virtual PC Secure" and discovered the scam warnings.

Be aware of the new numbers this scam is now using!

Yes, I just got a call from Microsoft Tech-virtual PC Secure 347-480-2444.  He said the same stuff that he keeps on getting error messages and that someone is trying to hack in the computer. He was like go in front of your computer NOW. I said I am in the middle of something.  He gave me this number and he was very rude!  Thank you for your previous comments because I know he is a scammer.
Thanks

I just got a call from this number: 347 480 2444.
I asked him to give me his number and name and that I will call back in 5mins.
It was clear to me from beginning that this is a scam as the guy claims working for Microsoft and rushes me to go in front of my PC. On top of it, he claims his name is Max Wilson but has a strong Indian accent.
Also I asked him about his affiliation within Microsoft and who is paying him for this supposedly customer service.... He kept trying to bs me with CLS server and some other generic technical words...

So I called him back and told him that I have 3 PCs at home! Which one he is calling about?...  I had fun for few minutes playing dum and finally I told him FU, just to see if he would react professionally, he replied FU too.

So please people be careful!

Salam.

I just had a phone call from Virtual PC Secure - Brad Miller - he said that someone was sending messages from my computer.  He asked me to turn my computer on.  I told him that my computer was not even plugged in.  That the Power supply was out of the machine because I had it checked today.  He insisted that I plug it in.  I am sending this to you on a substitute computer.  My computer has been down for over a week because it would not turn on.  The caller gave me his name and phone number and said that I should try to turn the computer on and that he would call again tomorrow.

I don't know how to report this scam.

I received a call from Sam @ Tech Dept of Virtual PC Secure. He advised me that my computer had been infected and been hacked into. He would be able to solve my computer problems. Since I had called Verizon a few days earlier re a problem I figured this was some kind of callback. He asked me to turn my computer on and go to the CLS key (I think that was what he called it) next to the control key. I didn't understand what he was talking about and said that next to the control key was the option key and the Apple key. He said, "You do have a PC don't you?" I told him I had a Mac. He then said they couldn't help Macs and hung up.

The same fellow called back about an hour later and I was able to get the telephone number and who he was representing, the first call he talked very fast and with a heavy accent and since I thought it was in regard to my earlier problem I didn't question him. Again, he hung up when I said I had a Mac. The number he gave me was 347-480-2444, which is from Virtual PC Secure. Think this is a scam especially on the elderly.

My mother received a call today from Johnny at Virtual PC Secure who told her that her computer was infected with viruses and that he could fix her computer for her.  She is older and not familiar with computers.  She gave him access to "help" her fix the problem.  He installed a program called Advanced WindowsCare Personal 2.6.0 2.6.0.  Once he showed her all of the "viruses", he put a payment screen on the computer to let her pick a protection plan for the future.  This finally started the warning bells in her head.  She told him to stop everything and give her a phone number to call him when I got home.  After talking with some friends, I did the following:

Unplug internet cord
Called ISP (Time Warner) and asked them to change or reset my IP Address
Checked all Programs to see what was installed.
Removed all suspicous programs
Restored to a few days earlier

My friend will be checking my computer out futher tomorrow to make sure a keystroke program was not installed.  Luckily she did not give out any account information.  I will be filing a complaint with internet security office, my local department of justice consumer protection as well as with the local FBI office.

I received a message from a person named James (doubtful) claiming to be from Microsift ITExpert Support telling me to turn my computer on now.  He claimed that it had been hacked into and infected with the a virus. I could pay for their services to remotely access our computer and remove said virus .... I was suspicious, asked for verification, they gave me this information and I checked with a trustworthy tech friend who told me it was a scam.  Thankfully, we do not have any such virus nor were we hacked into ... this is a SCAM!!  Beware any callers claiming to be James from PC Secure with this number: 1-347-480-2444

I received a call from a guy by the name of Sam (he has a very thick accent) this morning telling me called me from Virtual PC Secure and that I have a virus.  His reason for calling is to help me with a window virus.  He wanted me to go to my computer so that he can walk me through.  I hung up on him.

You are correct. BIG SCAM. See this article on Microsoft's website:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

CLSID == Class ID an internal code used in the Windows Registry to identify various object classes.  It is not  any kind of unique identifier of your computer.  In any event, even if it was, how would anyone associate that string to you?  Unless you actually provided contact information to Microsoft, even they cannot associate your Windows OS Activation Key with you.

This number is from a person named Kevin (doubtful) claiming to be from Microsift ITExpert Support - he and co-worker, Darren Smith, claimed that our computer had been hacked into and infected with the Alureon Virus - but, for a mere $250 we could pay for their services to remotely access our computer and remove said virus .... we were suspicious, asked for verification, they gave us some CLSID# (Geek Squad said this was something they had never heard of).  So, we hung up and called Geek Squad.  Thankfully, we do not have any such virus nor were we hacked into ... this is a SCAM!!  Beware any callers claiming to be Kevin/Darren Smith from PC Secure with this number: 1-347-480-2444
