Same here. "Lisa" was buying an Entertainment Center from me I listed on Craigslist for her son. She sent me a check overnight using FedEx. My bank send me a letter stating the check was from a closed account. We're going to our bank and changing our account number.
What a pain in the @$$!

Let me be more specific. I'm the guy that "Lisa" hacked my FedEx account. I filled a complaint with the Pima County sheriff department that you can check out. The Report # is 121217255, the deputy is Fennesy and the badge number is 7320.

There are two ways that this could go down; either you received more money than you had your item listed for on Craig's list and "she" wanted a refund or the the fact that in most cases she was buying sofa's, etc, that "she" was stuffing with drugs to send elsewhere.

In any event, I provided the Pima County  Sheriff's  department with a list of 61 transactions of 'Lisa's" FedEx transactions billed to my account from Dec 14 through Dec 17. You may be contacted to provide  emails of your transactions with her.

This kind of s*** really pisses me off.

Regards,

M. M.

Well, "Lisa" compromised my FedEx account to send all of you something, I don't know what, Overnight Priority. My FedEx account was billed over $800.

FedEx called me because they thought there was something suspicious was going on with all the activity.

If you can provide me with more info about "Lisa" send it to mamalenf@cox.net

Thanks.

Happened to me too...I also gave her my address before I realized this was a scam.  I replied that I had a better offer and sold the merchandise.  Let's see if I hear from "Lisa" again.

Just happened to me as well. Thank goodness for this site!  "Lisa's" first communication didn't raise any red flags but her second one, along with her story of being to busy to see what I'm selling and having me pay movers with the extra money she was going to write her check for sure did!  So lame.

I  posted on craigslist and received a reply from Lisa with the same story others got.... she was buying a gift for her son and that she was hearing impaired.  She replyed and said she wast able to see it in person and I made the mistake of responding with my name and address.   I should have done my research before doing that.   Something just didnt seem right.   I should have followed my gut.  Leason learned.   Now I feel I have to be on alert.

I just got an email with the same words and story last night. I should have looked this site up before responding saying that I would send more photos of the item. I think I will kindly decline the extra effort in coordinating with movers. It just didn't feel right from the start.

Same here. Exact same story. So glad I googled the phone number she gave me. Too many red flags! Before I googled the number unfortunately I gave her my name and address. I hope this doesn't come back and bite me. I did report this to Craigslist

Same thing happened to me! I got what must be a "form" letter and got the surgery story, buying it for her son story, and that she was hearing impaired. Same EXACT scenario. I think the scam is that she gets your mane and address, and then when the bogus check tries to clear, she gets your bank account info as well. I will be reporting this as a scam to Craigslist.

Signs that this is a scammer:
1. Claims to be deaf so you can't call; insists on texts or email for the same reason
2. Will not meet face to face, says they will have a "mover" pick up the item
3. Insists on sending a check or paying via Paypal

Received reply to my Craigslist post.   "Lisa" said she was purchasing for her son.  She said she was hearing impaired so would prefer to transact through email or text, but preferred email.  Her next email said she would need to send me a check for cost of item & shipping cost because she was going through surgery soon.  If I accepted, and once the check cleared, she would have the movers come & pickup everything.   I initially thought to have her send me a cashiers check and for her to pay the movers herself, but still didn't feel right.   Glad my gut was telling me not to do it.   Looks like she's done this before.

Thanks for posting this, you just answered my question. I too am investigating a Craigslist reply to an item for sale. Suspicious since I am in Indiana and the area code is NYC. Person wants to 'buy it for her son'.

I think I will reply to these by saying make the check payable to John E Hoover and give them the phone number and address of the local FBI field office. Could be fun.

I posted something for sale on Craigslist and received a response from this number.  I have not responsed back because I'm questioning the area code?
