Hi, just minutes ago, I got a text message from that number. As I live in Ireland and I put an ad on hte local website to sell my car, it seemed pretty odd to get a text from the USA.
He asked me to mail him the last price and gave me his e-mail address.
He informed me his battery was flat so it would have been better to send an e-mail instead of text.
I did not answer at all. He knows my mobile but I did not want to give away my personal e-mail address. I am afraid of stealing my personal details.

yes......one of the biggest scam's going around !!!
especially rampant when listing on " craigslist" and related......
** scams will come through via a wide array of phone numbers / emails or texts !! scammers are always " offshore" in foreign countries almost 100 % of the time........

It sounds like the Overpayment Scam.
The buyer offers to pay you full price for the item plus a shipping fee. You are to send the shipping fee to a shipper chosen by the buyer. The price is paid by check to you. You deposit the check, then wire the shipping fee to the shipper. Your wire transfer clears instantly. The buyer's paper check bounces, but it takes several weeks. Your bank makes you pay back the entire value of the buyer's bad check plus a fee for depositing a bad check. By that time the buyer and the shipper have vanished. The buyer and the shipper keep the shipping fee.
