It also occurs to me that, particularly on the GreenDot/Prepaid card ?payments,? since they are apparently difficult to trace, I seriously doubt they are reporting these funds on their income taxes === tax evasion.  (That?s the way they finally got Al Capone!)  The IRS has forms for reporting suspected evasion, and even a reward form you can complete for if you help them catch the folks!
http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F   (I?m 99% sure it?s the Form 3949-A that you?ll want to complete if you?ve been swindled by these folks.)    It looks like Form 211 is to claim a reward!

I personally don?t care WHICH branch of the government goes after these people, as long as THEY get REAL FEDERAL ARREST WARRANTS out on them!!  So, if you?ve been taken in by these folks, besides filing with the above, don?t forget the IRS!  (You KNOW they like going after money!!!)

It may not help, but it certainly wouldn?t hurt to fill the mailboxes at the White House with letters about these folks.  If the President wants to get involved with courts and everyday peoples? lives, then he needs to get involved in THIS!

SUGGESTIONS (again, I am NOT an attorney and am NOT attempting to dispense legal advice.  These are my PERSONAL suggestions)
1-IF you decide to answer one of their MANY calls from about 50 different telephone numbers (no, I?m not exaggerating), give them NO INFORMATION.  In fact, YOU MAKE THEM ANSWER QUESTIONS, and if they don?t, hang up on them!   I don?t know anything about spoofing/masking numbers, but there have been comments that they are VOIP?ing the majority of the numbers they?re calling from.  I do not doubt this, as a person said the number showing on her phone was that of the local police department.
2-Keep a running log of the date, time, telephone number, person calling and note of conversation to file with your complaints.  (Or, try to record the call, BUT they usually hang up when they?re told they?re being recorded.  ROFLOL, now how many LEGITIMATE collection agencies would do that?  NONE that I?ve ever heard!
3-Look up your state?s Statute of Limitations on debts that can be pursued in court (that you can still be sued for).  It seems to vary from 3-15years.
4-DO NOT allow them to intimidate or frighten you.  These idiots have even called the numbers attorneys, police officers, etc. with this scam.  Intelligent, they are NOT.

USUAL PLOYS:
1-call friends, neighbors, relatives, employers, and you trying to intimidate you into paying JUST to make the calls stop (but, from looking online, they don?t stop?they just demand more). ? Ask these folks to also keep a log of the calls, give them this internet page to check.  Ask them to do a search for ANY of these company names.  They?ll soon realize it that these people are nothing but SCAMMERS.
2-??have important legal documents (or summons) to deliver, will you be home ---(day) from 8:30 to 4:30 to accept it??
3-?There?s a warrant out for your arrest UNLESS you send us $xxx TODAY?  -- they seem to prefer asking for the ?Green Dot? prepaid card and want you to call back with the numbers on back ? harder to trace where to $ goes, apparently.

These folks use MULTIPLE numbers, from multiple states, apparently somehow faking the number being called from.  I've been researching the different numbers, same script.  Here's some info you may find useful:

There are complaints about them all over the internet for harassing people that do not owe the debt, threatening to arrest people for a debt, telling people the only way they'll stop calling is to pay "court costs" on an alleged suit they filed, etc.  According to some of the MANY complaint pages and numbers they've called using, it seems they call about debts that are 5-10 years old, don't care if they were paid or not because they want money.  There are people who have fallen for this, and stated that they paid, and are STILL waiting on getting the documentation of the debt from them.  Of course, their story is that they sent it out ... yeah, right.
What's laughable is one page on their website that says they follow the law during collection attempts.  OBVIOUSLY, NOT!  THEY have an F rating with the FL BBB (see below).

By the way, it would seem to me that, IF you had a bad debt, it would show on your credit report (if still eligible to be reported).  IF you do have a bad debt on your credit report, you might want to consult an attorney and/or the original creditor, rather than these folks who obviously could care less about the law.

IF they were calling about a legitimate debt, they would NOT be calling to see if you'll be home all day on certain day to "deliver legal documents" or "subpeona."  A legit collector CANNOT discuss your bill with anyone else OR threaten to arrest you and/or send you to debtor's prison, etc.

Make yourself aware of the rules in the FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT.--http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.shtm
Here is more info on it from the FTC Consumer information -- http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
It's glaringly apparent that these folks enjoy breaking most of these rules.

Hope this helps someone!

I'm tired of these people aggravating me over a debt that's not mine, for a person who did/does live in a city I've never even been in, much less lived or used as a mailing address.  So, I started hunting and found out a few things about these folks, so far.

The caller ID said the Call was from Bronx, NY I asked who it was they said hold on and someone else came on the line with the name Sara Michaels. I asked where she was calling from and she said Jacksonville, FL. I said what was the call about and she said a personal cash advance from 2008. She was calling a day before because a court summons was coming on Friday. Today is Wednesday. She then asked what did I want to do, pay a time settlement, or 3 monthy payments or go to court. I said when was this and what personal cash advance, they had my social # and email account and I asked for things in writing and she said well I guess that means you going to go to court I said whatever and hung up the phone. Then I googled the name and number and found out all this so SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This phone number keep calling my phone. I always google unknown #'s because I have already been scammed twice by people calling saying they have legal matters against me that could result in my arrest. Well never again because a Bill collector can not have you arrested and this is exactly what a Payday Loan is, Bill collecting scams. I went to the Attorney General web site for my state and filed a complaint. You can do the same stating charges of harassment and communicating threats. Ignore the calls, because if you are in a state such as N.C,NY,NJ and a large amount of other states in which payday loans are illegal, then it is nothing that these scam companies can do to you other than put the debt on your credit. They are no more than Bullying Loan sharks!!!

I just received a call from 347-602-9393 asking for me (using my maiden name), put on hold to transfer to a manager, then put on hold again to speak with the original person handling my case.  Jonathan Strickland who claims to represent CSA provides a call back number 888-212-9618.  I did call him back to verify the phone number and his information.  Claims he will mail the information regarding an outstanding debt.  I have received several similar calls - they always hang up if I ask them to hold for one moment while I begin recording the call.

Repeatedly get calls from this number.  They say they are attempting to collect a debt from someone I do not know.  I was nice and told them I did not know this person and asked that they stop calling.  Months later, and I still get calls even though I have told them I was going to call and report it to someone.

I too just received a call from this number. My caller ID showed it coming from NY. Because I have family in NY I chose to google the number which is how I happened upon this site. The police will do nothing to assist you with these types of calls. As a prior compliance officer for a telemarketing company in Florida, I highly recommend that you contact your state Attorney General as well as the FTC (Federal Trade Commision)These are the government agencies that regulate entities envolved in telemarketing and collections. I hope this helps. Good luck!

They must be using these prank calling apps that lets people put in any number to make there own number disguisable, the first thing we need to do is file a police report against the prank calling apps to get them banned. Cuz next these scumbags will be using our numbers for there fraudulent scams and make us look like the scammers. I'm sure that's what they are doing now. My friend has Pranked me from one of these apps or services that will let them change there number to what they want it to look like on your caller I'd. That's why these guys ain't caught yet, so let's get these apps and services changed.

These guys are commiting fraud, they call from many numbers asking for someone. Then when you tell them no one lives here by that name, they will call from another number asking for someone else. Unless you call them and then they get your info off of caller Id and then call and ask for you. And try to say there gonna send papers out to your house, saying from what I've read on other numbers of there's also saying that you will go to  jail if you don't pay for a fine. Which is not legit. I told these guys many times to stop calling my phone cuz there is no one living at this number they keep asking for. But they never give up. They just change the name the next time they call.

DO NOT EVER CALL ANY NUMBER BACK That you do not recognize. They will get your name and then try and scam you. These guys need caught for the fraudulent stuff they are pulling. Last time they called me which was the same person. I knew it was them, so I answered it and as soon as the person started speaking I let them have it. And told them to quit calling and said I will report them to the authorities for them pulling fraud. And the lady denied it and I said, no yes you are. By picking people out of random saying they better pay a fine or they will get locked up. By me telling them over and over every time that no matter how many times they call and ask for other people I know they are commiting fraud. She still argued and I say quit f-ing callin my phone. So the next day they called from another number from another state I answered and said I told you to quit calling and I'm letting you know that I am recording this call, and she argued say I didn't give you persmission, I said your calling my phone committing fraud I have the right to record a call incoming to my phone. She still argued and I again said quit f- ing calling my phone. These scumbags needs to be behind bars, and there getting by with fraud as we comment on them. They already have scammed a few people falling for there lies.

These people are fraudulent scammers.  DO NOT give them ANY information.  ALWAYS tell them that you want WRITTEN proof of the debt they CLAIM  you owe (p.s. you do not owe these scammers anything).  They will refuse to give you anything in writing USPS mail that is.  Why you ask?  Simply because IF they send you via mail a FAKE debt validation letter, that becomes a FEDERAL OFFENSE because they are now using the postal service as a means to extort money.  Tell them you are recording the phone call, they will HANG UP on you- does that sound legitimate????  Oh, also, process servers DO NOT call you before hand to tell you that you are being served!!!  A process server gets PAID ONCE THEY SERVE you court documents.  Why would they warn you that you are going to be served... that just would give you ADVANCED NOTICE to NOT BE HOME OR AT WORK.  A court case CANNOT move forward in civil court if you are not properly served... THEY DO NOT CALL AHEAD to tell you they are on their way!

Do what I do, I have the feature with my phone provider to forward certain callers to certain numbers. When I get one of these calls, I have that number now forwarded to the my attorney general's office!

Just got a call from them. The lady asked for me and then asked me to hold on so ahe could get a case manager to handle this "very important legal matter.' I laughed because i knew where this was going. She put me on hold and when the man finally came on he asked me did I receive a court summons. I laughed and said "Of course not. You all have been trying is for 3 months. It's a scam. Have a good day" and hung up. Got on here to check how many others have gotten calls from them and now I'm going to block this number. What jerks!!! I have my credit reports and I know exactly who I owe and I'm paying my bills. Scumbags!!!

This is the same of several different numbers that continue to "harass" me for alleged debts they claim "relatives" owe them, while the number they call (my number) has been mine and mine alone for 23 years...Having the same last name as a debtor should NOT give these Scum Bags the right to harass you, who have absolutely nothing to do with the debtor or alleged debt...

Me too.  Supposedly calling from Civil Procedures and always asking for "Tracy Jolly."  I have no clue how my cell # is associated with this faux company or person.  They have asked for my name before when I tell them that I do not know Tracy Jolly and that my cell # needs to be removed from their lists.  Seems very scam-related.  I'm not picking up calls from area code (347) ever again.  The calls have been coming for months!!
