Said he was a federal agent and is going to talk to officer O'Brien. I looked up number he called from.. which WS 775-981-0212... it was a lady saying I got approved for 1,000.00. This 775 number is the one the guy called saying to call 347-630-0529 wanting to talk to officer O'Brien about me. As I was calling the 347-630-0529... the 775-981-0212 called ... lady this time that I'm approved for money.

I just got a call from this number 347-630-0529 stating that I have a case aganist me in county I live in  and to call officer William Brown. so I went on the sheriff website in my county to see if I have a warrant  in my name  and there was none . He had an Indian Accent  also  and I could not figure out why I never heard about until this morning  and no paperwork from my local court house or no officer at my door.  very fishy and I am turning them into the FBI. I am glad there is a  history on these people.

As you read the how bogus the call is, we as a group have the upper hand. Call them back continually and grill them for information. Supposedly they have your information, have them send the information by overnite mail (don't give out your address, they already have it, right? They called you.)  Have them give them their address so you can send your "lawyer" over to review the documents. Keep calling, and calling, and calling. I had the @&$&@$& cussing at me and I told him he does not sound very official. We can make him hate his bogus job. I myself am not done with him. As a large group we can make a point. Don't harass us. Just imagine how frustrated we can make them, payback!

I just got a call from a Thomas Obrien also. It is rtroubling because the initial call does come from a local numver and they give you this number. What's strange is that both callers have non-amercan accents.

Just wondering, how long does it take to bring these people down? I received a call yesterday, same number. Thomas OBrian  was the name used but the accent did not match the name. A $400 fee was brought up.

I received a call from this number 3476300529 regarding a case against me.  Which I thought was strange!! If I had a case against me they would have sent me a letter in the mail or a real officer who have knock on my door.

I also called the police department in my hometown and they don't have a officer by the Thomas Obrein.  Watch out people, this is a scam.

I just received a phone call from this number from someone claiming to be Deputy Jenkins from the cook county sheriff department - they wanted information about a coworker, which I wouldn't give them. To be honest, the only thing that tipped me off that this was not right is that the caller ended the conversation by saying "god bless you." Which I thought was a strange way for a police officer to end a conversation.

I contacted the FBI and they confirmed that this is a known scam.

I called back the number to let them know that I knew what they were doing and that I had contacted the FBI and that they were not to call me again. The man immediately got very aggressive saying he was going to arrest me and then kill me. I hung up and called the FBI back who said it is very typical for them to get threatening and not to answer if they call again.

Received a call that showed up as local. I called the number back and it was the local dispatch office and was told to call the local police department because dispatch doesn't make calls. They gave me the correct number of the local police department. As I was dialing the local police the call came in again and I answered it.  A foreign guy who said his name was special officer Jenkins, I said from where he said my town name but pronounced it wrong and said that it was an urgent federal matter that I contact FBI officer Thomas Obrien at 347-630-0529,  at once because he has filed a complaint against me and has a warrant. The more questions I asked the more he could not answer. So I hung up and googled the number and see that these people are scammers.  I will be filling a complaint with every agency I can think of.

Me and both of my daughters have received calls from these people also with indian accents.  This guy called himself officer Michael Black with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.  They are relentlessly calling my daughters over a pay-day loan that has been paid off for 2 years.

All we can do is try to find someone to report these people to.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Chad Townsend ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Mar. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Chad Townsend contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

we received this same call about one of our employees and said that there was an issue with his social security number and that if we didn't get him to call back within 45 mintues that he would turn this over the the authorities in our state (he stated he was with the New York State Police) and they would arrest one of our employees.   We have experience with police departments looking for our employees from time to time and it is always handled very professionally and not in a threatening way.   This sounded like a boiler room phone where the call echoed.    As it turned out the employee had been discharged from our company weeks ago and therefore I didn't make any effort to contact the employee.   When you combine this with the messages above I'm fairly certain this is a scam.
