This scammer called my place of employment over 200 times in 2 hours last week. Threatened to send federal marshalls to arrest me if I didn't pay $300 immediately. Couldn't give me any information as to who I supposedly owed and had no legitimate information. Gave a false americanized name but clearly had a deep foreign accent. I demanded to speak to his supervisor and the same man got on the phone with a different americanized name but obviously same person. Our security personnel demanded them to stop calling and they refused. They actually called more. I have since filed a complaint with our local police department and with the FTC and with the state attorney general in my state in in New York where the area code originates. Our police department has since contacted the FBI and Homeland Security since this is a foreign entity interferring with American business trade. They might want to run and hide now!

I have received repeated calls from a man calling himself Mike Thompson with an Indian accent. He has harassed my co workers and the company called my house disguising themselves as the police. He says I owe money but would not tell me the company I borrowed money from. He states to have my attorney contact him but I have no idea who or what this man or company is but a scam. I will be contacting the FTC and Attorney General's office.

I am a receptionist and have been getting daily calls for an employee where I work. The caller, who is difficult to understand will not accept voice mail and insists that I take a message for someone who is not here. He is rude, talking over me and very pushy, but, so far, has not been vulgar. He identified himself as "Brian Austen" but that is pretty certainly a false name. I am to the point of telling this rude person that the person he is calling for no longer works here and stop calling.

This number called me twice last night, however, the number wasn't shown on my caller ID (I had to listen to both messages to get the number). He calls himself "Mike Thompson" from PCS, and his english is somewhat broken, almost to the point of stuttering. He mentioned that this was a personal matter that cannot be discussed over the phone.

he told me I WAS responsible for it
not sure what law school he went to, but since when does a reference imply responsibility, especially if i was never contacted
| RE 2013-06-10 21:11:59 Unknown |
These people are a***oles and nothing but full of threats. I gave them the courtesy of a call back of their voicemail to let them know I have no contact with the person they are calling for. If they are using my name and number, it is without my permission. He went on to tell me that since I as used as a reference for a loan, I am not responsible for it. When I told him I never signed anything so no I wasnt, after some rude comments he told me that he didnt want to waste his time discussing this with me and hung up.

Print out this page and give to your HR Dept - surely they can understand that you're the victim here?
Also file reports to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General. If the callers also have your information, and SSN, please do put fraud alerts on all your bank accounts as well as with the three credit agencies (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian). See also Alfalfa's posting above about this scam.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

We started receiving calls from these people today. Called one of my offices, would not state why they were calling. Very rude, foul language. They called every ten minutes, curse and hang up. When our (female) manager called to ask what they wanted they made rude sexual comments to her. I called them back; it is an apparently large call center (many voices on calls in the background). They just hang up.

This person named Andy called then transferred me to his supervisor named Mac with Private Credit Services. has called my office, very heavy foreign accent threatening me and when they called back and I told them I'd reported this to the AG office and filed a complaint with the FTC became extremely nasty calling me names and when my boss got involved and told them he was recording the conversation they just kept hanging up and calling back. They keep calling my cell phone and office. Sure wish people like this would find legitimate ways to earn a living.

I got calls from this number and looked somebody I don't know. It's from some people with accent (Indian, I think) and they have been harressing me for about 4 years now. I told them so many times before that whoever they are looking for doesn't live here, I don't know him and I asked them many times to remove my number from their list but nothing seem to be done since I still get multiple phone call from them. They even left messages on my voice mail. What should I do??????? Why do I have to put up with crap from these idiots for years???????
