Selling tires and rims on craigslist and said he would send a certified check but with more money than I asked to cover transfer fees. haven't received the check yet but I am glad because otherwise I probably wouldn't have figured out it was a scam. thanks guys!

Please take a few minutes to read some of the comments here, & in the forum. The Crigslist/Kijiji & the certified check scam is very well known, & has been around for a while. You get a certified check, but it's for MORE that the selling price. You are told to Western Union (or any other form of cash wire transfer service) the difference to their "Agent", or back to them. It can take 2 weeks or more for your bank to tell you the check is a fake - so guess who's on the hook for lost money, lost goods, & in trouble with the law for depositing a bad check?
