i just had him contact me

I just receive a couple of text from this person as well, but I had already Googled the number so I knew it was a scammer.  Said they'd have to PayPal cause their not in town.  I replied by saying, "I already Googled you and know you are a scammer"  Haven't heard back.

Now he has a son studying outside the country who needs a laptop

Yup, same deal. Laptop on Craigslist, had out of state daughter, asked me for my paypal, said local sales only knowing about scams, never heard from him again. I googled his number trying to put a name to the scumbag/group of scumbags and wasn't expecting much but found this thread. Anyone know how to report on this? Watch out for anyone wanting something shipped!

i knew right away it was a scam because this isnt the first time,

I received text messages from someone looking to buy my used MacBook Pro I had advertised on Craigslist. The "fishy? text read: "hello am stellachunli is your item still up for sale? Apple MacBook Pro $450.? I texted back that it was still for sale, thanked them for their interest, and asked if they had any questions. They replied, "i just wanna know if is mint condition cos i wanna get it for my daughter schooling outta state as a birthday gift.? I said there were ?normal signs of wear" on the keyboard, but could replace it for an extra $150. They replied, "pls is the $150 for the shipping?? I explained (again) the $150 would only cover the cost of a new k/b. He replied, "okay i dont really need that so how much is the mac including the shipping" I then asked, "Where would I have to ship it?" and they replied: ?it is an international shipping okay so you can just get back to me with your paypal email so i can make the payment cos am setting for a meeting by 1pm" I texted back that I knew all about such scams and how email addresses are "spoofed," etc., and how money is initially deposited in your PayPal account, but after you've shipped your "item," the money is suddenly no longer there! Sellers BEWARE!
