According to the article, you are charged as soon as you answer or call back..have him check the phone bill for recent charges. I'm with Verizon, going to talk to them today to see if that is what's happening

I've been called by 4 different numbers. I have the dear and have been with Verizon for years now. I don't pay for the bill but my dad does. Will he be charged because I answered a call?

Yeah I've gotten 3 calls as well. My advice to everyone is DONT PICK UP!!! Its the best way to make it stop. If it doesn't stop contact your phone company and tell them what's up.

I've been ignoring the calls, as I do with numbers I don't recognize.  I've gotten a couple of calls from various numbers that don't leave messages and it's all been within the last two days.  I'm also a verizon user, so I wonder if they've hacked the system...
The numbers I've received calls from are:
860-859-9285 (Norwich CT, Palmer Residence)
352-399-1899 (Wildwood FL, cell phone)
772-283-3482 (Palm City FL, Hellebrandt Residence)
240-305-2087 (Westchester MD, cell phone)
256-554-2267 (Florence AL, cell phone)

I don't know anyone in these states and those two names unknown.  I think it's a scam of some sort....odd

We keep getting a call from these people and they ask for Michael.  I assume some scumbag named Michael was giving out a fake number when he played around on the Internet.  That fake number happened to be our number (Michael, go to hell!) and now these other scumbags keep calling and trying to sign us for their scam.  I went ape$%#& on the last lady who called because I was so angry that they think they can steal money from people...she just kept right on with trying to sell me the scam even though I totally cussed her out.  Talk about persistent.  When another guy called tonight, though, my husband answered and told him he wasn't Michael, which, of course, didn't dissuade the man at all.  But when my husband said he didn't have any of the 4 major credit cards the guy thanked him and hung up.  I'd really like to nail these people.  Does anyone know how?

Yes, I answered and spoke with a guy. It's a scam. They told me that the four major credit card companies enter select customers in a contest to win $25,000 each year, and I had been entered. He also said I won a diamond bracelet and that would get 3 magazines free for 60 months just for being entered. I said no thank you. He said, "Did you hear what I said?" I said it sounded fishy. He was argumentative. I hung up. I feel that soon he would have asked for the credit card information. How annoying. Can these people be reported to the FCC?

I received 2 calls today from two different numbers but when I tried to call back I heard the same message....has anyone actually answered the call?

I have also received 4 different phone numbers the past 2 days! 352-399-1899, 708-724-7896, and a 240 and 256 area code number. Does anyone know what this is or how to stop it??? Does it have anything to do with verizon?

This won't be the first call...I've been getting them for the past three days from 4 different numbers.Evrytime you block one, they call from another.Best I can do is just change my number

Recd call from this nbr. didn't ansr and they did not lv msg. Tried calling the nbr back and woulnd't go thru, maybe some outbound line only?
