Call 2 times today. The second time they called I pressed one, a young man came on to which I blew a whistle in his ear. They need not call me back again.

THE BAD NEWS: Card Services calls aren't going to stop anytime soon.

THE GOOD NEWS: You can retaliate, reduce the misery, and even have some fun.

RETALIATE:

Waste these turkeys' time. Keep them on the line by acting like an interested prospect. Give them bogus data, including a combination of two different credit card numbers, scrambled Social Security digits, and a modified ZIP Code. Important: provide a credit card company's real 800 number.

After they call the credit card company, you can give them the same credit card info as before with two of the numbers transposed, thus causing them to make a second verification call. Or you can respond, "Guess what ... H-O-O-N-N-K-K [from a $6 air horn] you've been PRANKED! Call back tomorrow for more bullshot." Now they're the butt of your joke.

REDUCE THE MISERY:

Landlines. Enroll for the free service at nomorobo.com. Simultaneous ringing, a free feature many providers offer, enables nomorobo to receive, answer and, after one ring, automatically hang up on nuisance telephone numbers.

Cell phones. Block the number, an option that becomes available on the iPhone if you click on the "i" on the right in the list of recent calls and scroll to the bottom. Unfortunately, Card Services will keep calling from new spoofed numbers, which eventually should motivate you to retaliate.

HAVE FUN:

Turning the tables on the perpetrators with mischievous deception and the news they've been duped provides instantaneous vigilante satisfaction. Plus you serve your fellow call recipients by slowing down this evil operation's efforts to defraud them.

I wish there was a way that I could get these people to stop calling.  I really have a big notion to just take my off the wall.  Maybe if enough people would call their phone companies and tell them that maybe they would soooooon put a stop to the phone scams.  I have told these stupid people that I do not have a credit card.  What the HELL!!!!!

This woman called from there and when we asked for her name she said "your mother"! This is complete harassment and this should be illegal to call people claiming they are card services.  We have asked for the past few years to take us off the list and they call 5 or more times a day.  Why is this legal? This is harassment? And why aren't these reports going to the government for them to do something about harassment calls like these?

The same credit card scam again, pretending they're calling from your credit card company.  They're nothing if not persistent and infinitely annoying. Seeing telling them not to call doesn't work (because scammers don't care about the law or your wishes), I pressed one to get some satisfaction.  A bored woman came on the line and asked if I had over $2,000 in debt.  I asked, softly, "Are you there?" to make sure she was listening closely.  When she said, "Yes, I can hear you," I blew my very loud, very shrill emergency whistle directly into the receiver and then promptly hung up. In retrospect, maybe I should not have disconnected so quickly.  I would have loved to hear her swearing and perhaps falling out of her seat. I'm betting she wasn't feeling quite so bored after that experience. <evil laugh>

360-322-6685  listed as coming from Marysville WA, pressed 1 and was connected to Thomas, who wanted my Credit card number, the security code and the last four of my social security number. (oh yea... like that is going to happen) He claimed that since my Credit card number was on my statement, that it was really not a secure number anyway.  Once he has this info he was going to see if I had a high enough credit card balance and that they would offer me a lower rate.  He claims this was a service from MY credit card company and that I would not be changing my card but merely being offered a lower rate by my company (Really?? and why would MY credit card company pay someone else to offer me a lower rate when I could just call them myself and ask for it?!)  Anyway... then he told me that I actually called him- because I pressed 1!  A***ole!!

In re: "Give them bogus data, including a combination of two different credit card numbers, scrambled Social Security digits, and a modified ZIP Code."

Don't take a chance by giving anything real, even if scrambled or only half correct!

Instead, use "Fake Name Generator" at www.FakeNameGenerator.com

Their fake ID data passes preliminary data cross checking so they appear to be real, even though they are 100% fake. Giving real-looking fake data will really slow down the scammers!

These guys are thieves. All you're going to get when you tell them you're on Do Not Call is hung up on and then more calls. Here's how you end the calls. Press '1' at the recording. When you get someone in 'Card Services' on the line, tell them you want lower rates and have more than $5,000 in credit card debt. Then give them fake info for your credit card. The first 4 digits of the card are specific to the card company so you can't just give them random numbers. I take one of my credit cards, give them the first 4 and then scramble all the rest. After about 20 mintutes of giving them the run around tell them that it's all BS and you're wasting their time because they're thieves. Now you can piss them off for a change, and you're doing a good deed by keeping them tied up when they could be scamming someone else.

Spread the Word!

I received a call from (360) 322-6685 at 1:38 p.m. on 3/21/14. Since I don't answer calls that I don't recognize, these and other sickos can call me until the cows come home. They'll just be wasting their time, not mine. Because I won't be a victim of their pitiful scams, in this case I win and they lose.

It is pathetic that the Federal Trade Commission is POWERLESS to prevent a scam that is YEARS old!  I dutifully report each number to the FCC as many of you have, in the hopes that sheer volume of complaints will eventually force action.  Recap below so results will stay current on search engines...

As several others have detailed, Robo message says call is in reference to current Credit Card acct.  Provides menu option to stop the calls, but this does nothing.  If 1 is pressed, an American comes on the phone, begins asking questions about how much is owed on CCs.  If I ask them to stop calling, or if I ask them any questions about Company ID or location, they just hang up.

I didn't answer the call.  Returned phone call to get a recording that told me to press "1" if I no longer wanted to be on their 'preferred calling list.'  Thought that's why I'd registered my phone number on the National Do Mot Call Registry.  Oh, well.  The recording informed me it may take 'up to 72 hours' for my request to be processed.  All I know is that it had better be processed, soon!!
