I get calls from this number all the time. When I answer, it is a machine.. You hear a "ship" in the background & the machne says, "This is your captain speaking. You could have a free trip to ... If you answer these few questions"

| dutchgirl 2012-03-03 02:01:14 Unknown |
Just got a call from this number, didn't answer and they left no message. I called the number back and got a message that the mailbox belonging to this number was full. Yeah I'll bet it is and not likely to be emptied any time soon.

I started getting these calls shortly after giving my cell number to a sales person at K-Mart as part of a promotional discount card program. I got two or three text messages before I got out of the store!

7:14 pm EST time March 1st 2012. Never heard the phone ring but saw this number logged in my cell phone this morning. Not sure if they were the same people that called as a private number at 5 pm the same day

One telescammer is responsible for a substantial volume of calls coming out of Port Angeles, Washington. The numbers most recently used are:
360-460-2196
360-460-7117
360-460-0742
360-461-4696
306-461-4457
The Feds would have you believe this particular Scammers, Inc. is too tough a nut to crack. We've been tracking whoever is behind this for a few years, and we've had one break. One woman got someone on the other end and he blurted out "We're Answernet" and hung up. That could have meant anything or been just something he made up, but it was the only lead and so we pursued it, and it turned up some interesting stuff. I think we've finally cracked it.
Answernet, Inc had a subsidiary named Contact America Acquisition, LLC, that did business in Port Angles, Washington as on outbound telemarketing corp. They were registered with the Secretary of State to transact business in Washington. They are based in La Jolla, CA. Two years ago they shut down operations there and overnight a company replaced it at the very site they were located, called Call Centers 24x7. We don't know if they're connected. Call Centers 24x7 started as Prophetechs Corporation, a registered corp until sale was finalized in July, 2000, and the subsequent business has never been registered with the SOS, received authorization to transact business as a WA corporation, nor file articles of incorporation.
Since there is no registration data, we don't know, but I believe that this is a wholly owned subsidiary of Contact America Inc, La Jolla, CA, which is itself defunct, but its current operations are definitely controlled by Hoy Schuman & Associates Incorporated. Robert L. Schuman is a middle tier, 1/2 million/year telemarketer, with ties to political organizations were he supplies robocall muscle. He's just the kind of spider I'd expect to find sitting in the middle of this little telescam web. All these calls have been traced to a switch that Contact America 24x7 uses to spoof caller ID. It makes a land line call look like a cell call. Technically, it makes it look like they're calling your cell back, so it gets by all checks, ID display, etc.
But Call Centers 24x7 is definitely run by Shane Miller of Port Angeles, WA. He was the one that began the venture as Prophetechs Corporation and continued as Call Centers 24x7 after selling it. For my money, this is the guy to target when you get another of his marketing scams on your cell. Schuman may be benefitting from the whole rotten setup, but it's Miller that is doing the day on day nitty gritty and deciding that you are the one that will be targeted with a call. No doubt he would find laughable the idea that he's personally responsible for the result of an algorithm, but that's exactly what we're hopefully going to do in the future. Miller (b. ~1971) is a local. Miller attended Peninsula College, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative History of Ideas from the University of Washington. He is married to another Port Angeles High School graduate, Coral Barbieri, and they have two children. http://www.portangelesschools.org/parents/images/Shane-Miller-web.jpg . Call Centers 24x7 is successful in 2005, but what did he do for the preceeding 10 years? There's no trace before 2002. Those 40 clients must have been pretty big to float them from 2002 until 2005. And picked them out of the blue! Prophetechs never made a cent. How did Call Centers get the traction? Most interesting, they have such a huge outbound call load, THEY NEEDED NEW TRUNKS!!! That's very exceptional. Those must have really been some major "40 clients". But they don't mention those services on their website? http://www.destinationcrm.com/Articles/Older- ... tual-42955.aspx It's obvious to me that Contact America wanted to go underground and found a phone savvy programmer that was willing to run the operation. The website is a thin cover for what is supposed to be a virtual call center operation and is actually a massive robocall/telescam operation. They have no registration anywhere. Are they even paying taxes?
I'm sorry but his established story for what Call Centers 24x7 does and what I see on their website does not jive. Look at it. http://www.callcenters24x7.com/ I know a cover business when I see one. So, where's the money coming from? Surely not from that operation. Here's his own slide show presentation that supposedly explains it. I still don't see how there's any meat there. There are a thousad that do what he describes better and cheaper, though we can only guess at what that might be. They advertise nothing. Where's the sign-up page on their website? Where's a sales cart list of their services? Read it for yourself. http://www.gayloncox.com/samples/contactual2.pdf BTW, notice the guy in the presentation that looks like a prop? Tell me he doesn't look like Bob Shuman. http://media.linkedin.com/mpr/pub/image-uducV ... bob-schuman.jpg Maybe it's a wink-wink nod-nod kind of thing. The telescam insiders will recogize Schuman and think, "Ah...I know what you're offering...". The rest of us are supposed to believe that he's making money off of what he describes that he's doing there.
I leave the verdict in your hands. Looks guilty to me. The only coherent page on their website seems designed to simply say, "No, we don't do that". It reeks of "methinks the lady doth protest too much". They spell nothing out in detail anywhere. Except the one page that says "we don't do robocall telescams". How convenient. http://www.callcenters24x7.com/Home/FocusonInbound/tabid/372/Default.aspx I think that when you get a 360 area code cell phone scam call, there's one Shane Miller behind it. This much is sure. He runs Call Centers 24x7, Inc., which is not an "inc", and advertising it as such is criminal fraud. That is a fact. Consider that fact when you weigh the rest of the evidence.

I missed the call from this phone # but the call was logged-in on my phone at 7:04 p.m. this evening... the problem though, is that the (360) Area Code is located in the state of Washington... however, I don't know anyone who would be calling me from the state of Washington... thus, I've decided that I will NOT try to return this phone call.

Supposedly an automated poll with free tickets as a reward. Questions were how old are you, do you own your home, do you have a septic system, etc. I pressed invalid keys all the way through but it just kept going.

They called my # & when I answered, a ship horn blasted & when I tried to call back I got a busy signal too, it didn't make sense! How in the world did they get my #?
