That's a really good point- I've been getting an awful lot of scam calls since changing from Sprint to AT&T. I didn't have this problem before :(
Just wanted to add that this number called me too and left no message.

I got a call from this number also and called her back. I told her that I would report her and the agency to my state police. I told her not to call my phone number back again. Since then I have not had any calls come from her or the Providence company.
| WHOWHAT 2012-06-07 02:05:03 Unknown |
YES THIS IS A SCAM. BBB ARE WARNING ABOUT IT . THEY TRY TO HIDE UNDER THE SURVEY RULE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO CALL. THEY WILL DELETE SOME NUMBERS IF REQUESTED, BUT NOT ALL. DO NOT KNOW WHY. THE BEST WAY TO STOP THEM IS NOT TO ANSWER, BUT CALL WILL GO TO YOUR VOICE MAIL. I HAVE NOT ESTABLISHED A VOICE MAIL SO IT IS FINE WITH ME. I SIMPLY CHECK MISSED CALLS FOR NUMBERS I KNOW TO RETURN CALLS. HOWEVER THE MOST FULLFILLING WAY OF DEALING WITH THESE PESTS IS A LOUD WHISTLE. WAIT UNTIL YOU GET A PERSON AND LET IT RIP!

While I don't peruse FoxNews at any level this article appeared on my Google homepage recently... Thought I would pass it on since I have received these calls...

HINT - check with your cell phone carrier... Mine (currently Sprint, but others in the past as well) have a section on the Account Management website that you can enter numbers to block voice, text, data, video, etc. I put this number in (with others... No limit) and problem solved... No more calls.

you can call them back and be offered to remove your number, but they don't. I have received 9 calls from this number in the last 2 months. Have requested to remove my number each time. Guess what I got another call tonight. They also use a 971 area code number as well.

I have received more than 150 (I have them documented) calls from these criminals. I have filed more that 50 complaints with the FTC however due to the fact that they hide behind spoofed numbers I doubt that they will ever stop any of them. They ask for up front fees and charge your credit card without performing any services.
I find that I am getting great enjoyment by pressing 1 and talking to one of their "reps". I have a phony name, credit card number, and security code that I use. The only legitimate number that I give them is the customer service number from a credit card that I no longer use since the card raised my rates.
I try to ask the criminals as many questions as possibe to keep them on the phone as long as I can. The scammers seem to get upset once they finally figure out that THEY are getting scammed. I guess they think their time is more valuable than mine.

May 29,2012. Never answered, when you call back get a message saying you were selected to take part in a survey that is over--"press 5 or something to remove your number permanently" BS. Didn't work, repeated calls.

HOW TO THROTTLE BOGUS CALLS (updated 03/21/2012)
Ok, here's a solution if your phone has a contacts list--it works quite well on my iPhone, which allows unlimited phone numbers for any contact.
Step 1, create a contact named something like these names
IGNORE JUNK CALL
SCAMMING SCUMBAGS
FRAUDSTERS LIST
.....
Step 2, select a SILENT ring type for this contact. Or, select a distinctly unusual ring tone like
CRICKETS or
MOTORCYCLE or
RIFLE...
This lets you know if a repeat caller is on the line, but I prefer the silence myself. My iPhone lights up showing the caller ID, even though I have a silent ring.
Step 3. Enable CALLER ID to be displayed for incoming calls that are made to your phone. It's a pity these stealth calls UNKNOWN, or OUT OF AREA, or their ilk, can't be blocked by any phone I know about. My iPhone won't let me put these names where the phone number field is entered.
So, what you do is to put the phone numbers of all bogus and scam callers that contact you, or try to call you, in this special contact.
Also, unless you recognize a toll free number owner, let all calls of this type go unanswered, and if no
voicemail is left, add the Caller ID (their phone number) into the IGNORE JUNK CALL contact.
Also add any other bogus calls
you get or know about, well they go in this contact too.
This may mean also all callers that don't leave a voice mail, or are soliciting you for services or products who you don't have a business relation with. And slime bags you don't want to talk to, like that jerk at the bar, or your ex.
For new toll free and also out of area calls: run these numbers
through Google search to see if they have been reported as junk or have been identified by others as scams.
Don't call an unsolicited toll-free number back, it captures your own phone number, and you will get on other scam lists to call you.
Toll free numbers all have area codes from this list: codes 800, 888, 877, 866, and codes reserved for future expansion include 844, 833, 822, 880 through 887, and 889.
FURTHER: Don't take the default voice mail prompt that came with your phone, because it usually
speaks your phone number and indicates you aren't around to pick up the call and maybe even speaks your name as well.
Record a new one
like "Sorry I missed you, your message will be appreciated".
Friends will know your voice. Scammers, not so often.
My list is long now, my silent ring saves me from tons of spam and scam, and yes, the do not call list is worthless, and toothless as well.
Please feel free to copy this post anywhere, and to any forum.
Consider writing a letter or email to your phone supplier, or your congressman to fix this awful state of affairs, and to put some teeth into the DO NOT CALL law. Ask them to shut down the services that allow fake telephone numbers to be used as well.

My girlfriend and I are both getting calls from this number and similar numbers. Take note that the numbers are at least 50 digits diffirent. The calls are probably from a large company in the area (Boeing, Microsoft). It appears that they have captured incoming calls acted like a breather. Also check the nearest foriegn embassy phone numbers. They need a very good computer and sofisticated software without companies like Boeing to catch them.

I contacted the Texas Public Utility Commission about this number (see below). The calls from various numbers interrupt my day on both my land line and my cell phone so they are annoying and are beginning to border on harassing. I won't erase the call log on my cell or the caller ID on my land line so I have a record of the calls.
Thank you for contacting the Public Utility Commission of Texas. The No Call list is intended for legitimate Telemarketers that are selling goods or services. If you find that you receive solicitation calls from telemarketers you may file a complaint. If the calls you are receiving are exempt from the No Call list(Debt Collectors, State Licensees, etc.) or are ?scams? or harassing you may contact the Attorney General of Texas at 1-800-621-0508 to file a complaint.
To file a No Call Complaint with the PUCT please provide the following information:
· Your name, address, and telephone number
· Telemarketers Name(if available) and telephone number
· Date and Time of Calls
