Incidentally, last year I got repeated (as in several per day) calls from the UK and was certain the phone number was being spoofed. A friend in the UK verified the number was listed and assigned to what appeared to be just a regular person. The useless DNC wouldn't let me file a complaint about a number with a country code, which tells you how poorly thought out that whole system is.  So...............I went directly to the FCC  (Not the FTC), called them on the phone and filed a complaint. I spoke to a real person who took the report. It could be a coincidence, but the calls ended that same day.

Got a call today from this cockroach. I have a call blocker and a phone set up that rings once to alert me that the blocker just took a cockroach out. This tells me this number POd me enough in the recent past to block it. I checked the number and there was the name "Mark McClurg" as the ID. Now it could be that Mr. M's number has been spoofed and if so, he'll find out sooner or later. In the meantime, that is the name that showed up on my ID. I notice that in  October, 2013 another poster here noted that the guy's name was "Mark".

I am in the USA and resent the comment made regarding how this is probably a terrorist from the USA. There are words I am considering thinking of right now, but will forgo that so this comment doesn't get removed, but you are a jerk for sure. If the comment were literate I might actually be more angry. That makes you an illiterate jerk.

I just got the call from this same #. If it's the same people offering a free security system just to let them place signs up in your yard. They called me before and I played along with their scam. I live almost 1/2 mile off the road. So I said come on, put 2 or 3 signs up. So he kept on with his sales pitch and then he was getting my information down. Then he asked for my SS #. WRONG ANSWER.... I said that's for me to know and you to NEVER find out. He got pissed off cause I let him continue with his sales pitch and didn't give him my SS #. These people need to get a life. Now I just don't even answer ANY # I don't know and ESP. if it's out of state # on caller ID. If it's a real call, they will leave a message and I'll call them back if I feel it's a real call.

I think these are the same scam punks that phish for phone numbers, then sell them to Bangledesh for the  "microsoft computer virus" scam.  I dealt with these pukes before.  According to Telus, I can't block a third party bs soliciter.  I'd say I've had over 3000 calls from ms support (always strong bangly accent) over the last few years.

I was able to find out that's what these a holes do.  Just got another call.  Switching to Shaw in a couple days for phone.  No help from Telus.

Live in Saskatoon, SK. Got a call this morning from this number, but I did not answer and no message was left. I never answer a call  from numbers I do not recognize. If it is important they can leave a message. I noticed in one post here that indicated  if you do not want to be on the call list they reqyest that you hit a number, like 9, or  whatever. Do not hit any number as this was a scam a few years ago where if you did this it could give the caller access to your phone number and rack up long distance calls, etc.

In Manitoba.  This number called at 3:22 pm.  Didn't recognize number therefore did not answer.  TG for caller ID

got the same call at the end it says press 9 and you will be removed. I'm in Saskatchewan

Went through the initial recorded message about the FBI and home security and they wanted to place a sign on my lawn for a free security system.  Pressed 1 and waited for a live person.  Listened to the customary Hi, How are you today and responded with "which company are you calling from".  Caller said "Home Security Systems".  Asked if that was the name of the company, and was informed yes.  Didn't respond to any more questions while I looked up on the Internet for companies called "Home Security Systems".  Couldn't find one.  Informed the Caller I am from Maple Ridge, British Columbia and was abruptly hung up on.

Got a call today at 2:30pm. No message left on machine but call display was: Unknown Name  360-910-5749.
I'm on the 'National Do Not Call List' so will report this # too. I wanted to first double-check it wasn't a call from a Charity (which is exempt from the list) and is how I stumbled onto this site. (Thanks for posting all the info - was very helpful!)
Not sure if being on 'the list' helps lower the amount of calls I get - hope so! But, reporting these annoyance calls does provide me with a small way to take back a bit of control? At the very least, lets me vent.. thanks for listening...

Also received the phone call at 11:23 am but didn't answer.  Another waste of time to research this call and write it up.

We "Canadians" know our provinces, towns, cities and communities, we also know the U.S.'s and IF you had a brain you'd realize someone or some company is spoofing phone numbers that appear to originate from Vancouver but in your own country-THAT VANCOUVER!

Is it any wonder that Canadians think too many United States citizens are in-bred, redneck buffoons?

 Got a phone call at 10:18 AM with no name and just phone number 360-910-5749. Did not answer the call but let the answering machine take it.As soon as my machine took it there was just a hang-up.Just another scam deal.from the looks of all the reports it appears to be starting in BC then Alberta and now Sask. Call blocking does not always work,if I see an unidentified number I DO NOT asnswer, if it is a legitimate call they will leave a number.Vigilance does pay off.

Just received a call about the home protection system. I'm in Calgary, AB so the FBI bit made it nice and clear that it was a telemarketer. I should have stayed on the line long enough to see if there was a name but I was so annoyed I hung up (I'm on the do not call list as well).

Don "CERTAINLY" knows his geogrphy, it is you who does not get the pun. Try re-reading and think.

Just called me on the cell ..  I don't answer long distance calls I don't know..  If there is no message left, I come here to check..   And yep.. Yet another scam.

So Mark Mcclurg is their "mark" for the scam.

Well the scam has advanced to the point where there is no caller ID displayed, this is the first I have come across this scenario with my Panasonic phone that automatically blocks calls with no number, blocked and/or anonymous calls.  This call messed with my landline and handset-made it beep and skip over the call which I picked up because it was not blocked, yet did not display on my phone. Recorded message, something about the FBI and breakins, upon which I hung up and then checked my Call ID on the handset and nothing was there oddly and no record of any incoming call #, I also have talking caller ID and nothing displayed, except 'incoming call'. I could not use my landline base set after the call, it kept saying busy-I had to unplug it. Discovered the number by using my Telus TV remote to display caller ID and there was the number 1-360-910-5749. The number comes up as being from Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. The only reputable number look up site on the web is searchbug.com which gave the owner name as "Mark" , yup, I was there "Mark" for sure.  Searchbg gave two different locations (Ridgefield and La Centre, WA) but gave the same carrier T-Mobile, USA. Called T-Mobile and the rep stated that this is NOT a T-Mobile phone number. When searching the number on google-many Chinese sites come up. Had one other call a ways back that was similar here in Kamloops, BC stating they were calling to fix my computer and wanted my IP address, as if I'm going to give that out-sheesh-could hear many people speaking Mandarin in the background-hung up on them too and they called me back whereupon I started speaking some not nice things to him in French and hung up for a second time, and blocked the number. Complain to your phone provider.

ANOTHER telemarketer. Enough already! I don't buy anything over the phone. You think they'd learn ...

Someone in Canada doesn't know their geography! There is CERTAINLY a Vancouver, WA and has been since 1857. It is in Clark Co., north bank of the Columbia, and the 4th largest city in the state!

Called at 8:00 am on the dot, recorded woman's voice, no discernible accent, said there's a home break in every 15 minutes or maybe she said seconds, and wanted to put a sign on my property and install a security system at no cost to me. I'm on Vancouver Island.

Caller ID showed  "Mark McClurg" calling.  Did not answer.

Caller ID showed this number with a "Mark Mcclurg".  Googled the name and number, said it was a photographer.  

Recorded message about FBI reporting break-ins in our area. Hung up. Annoying.

So they call me in Canada about the FBI reporting a large number of breakins. Glad to know the FBI is tracking the property crime situation in a foreign country.

People must still give business to these scammers.
