Called about lowering rates like everyone else. I pressed 1 to talk to them and when the guy answered, I told him that I wanted his name and the company he worked for. He thought he put me on hold, but I could hear snippets in the background about "keeping this fool on hold as long as he can" and wanting to see me arrested. I have no idea what was going on.

call to lower credit card rate. We're on Do Not Call List. Obviously that means nothing to these people.

I am on a do not call list also But that doesn't stop them.

I got a call today from these clowns and they left an abbreviated message that said free activation and installation and three months of free movies...

Received a call at my area code 408 business number in Sunnyvale, CA.  Wasn't able to pick up at the time.

Tried to call back the 306-304-9434 number later and heard a message "This phone number has been diconected".

This appears to be a spoofed number, or they are playing a fake "disconnected" message.  In either case, this would indicate illegitmate activity.

Any suggestions on how these people can be identified and stopped?

Didn't answer.  No message.

Received a call from 1-386-304-9434 on November 10, 2008.  When I answered, a recording came on stating an offer to lower interest rate.  When the operator came on, I stated my number was on the Do Not Call Registry.  She promptly hung up.

i got the same message. funny i don't have a credit card and never did.

They call about once a week.  When the machine picks up, they hang up.

We got a call like the above about lowering a credit card rate. The trust has no credit and can't use any. We pay everything in advance or as soon as it is billed. You can't get a lower rate than 0%. I pushed 1 to get a person and asked to have the number removed. The person immediately hung up.

I answered the call from this number and a recording said this was the last day to lower the interest rate on my account. I pressed "1" to talk to a representative and got "Michelle." I asked if she was aware that I am on the Do Not Call list. She said, "I'm on a Do Not Call list too. That's why you're supposed to press '2'." She then hung up.

Received a call from 386-304-9434.  Started out, "Don't be alarmed. Find out how you can reduce your interest on your debt".  This time I listened. The caller said "punch "1" if you want to blah, blah or punch "2" if you want to stop receiving these calls"..You bet, I punched "2". I don't want to hear from them any more.  I figured it was a scam to get credit card personal information.  I am reporting this to the Texas Consumer Protection Office and the local Better Business Bureau.

Received a call from this number, no message left.  All caller ID said was "Daytona Beach FL"

Caller ID showed "Flordia Call".  Allowed machine to screen call.  No message, just a hang up.

credit card scam -

The phone number redirects from another source. Basically, the originating host is untraceable, at least until an aggressive court-ordered trace occurs.

Keep reporting them so that if the courts get involved (credit card owner victimization), and when the true host name/site is nabbed, that enough data will be had for the courts.

It's credit card spam and who I really think these people are are people looking for information so they can steal identities.

We receive weekly calls from this number with the same scenario as everyone else listed. They give no information, and desparately want credit card information. Each time, they hang up. This nis more than frustrating.

My Mom got a call on her line today.  I answered and got the message that I shouldn't be alarmed but that this was my last chance to lower my interest rate, or some such thing.  I hit 1 to speak to an operator and she came on and started right in with her pitch.  I interrupted her and asked her who she was calling and she said my mother's name and then just went right on with the pitch about consolidating debt and all.  I interrupted her again and said, "My mother is 92 and has no debt."  She hung up.  Of course, when I tried the number, I got a recording that the number had been disconnected.  I'm wondering if someone from the phone company can trace the number.  Maybe that recording is bogus.

received a call from 386-304-9434 from Daytona Beach, FL. I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message. I called it back and it says that the # has been disconnected.

I TRIED TO CALL BACK, AND A RECORDING COMES ON THAT SAYS THE NUMBER IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE.  HOW DO I STOP THIS????
