Descriptions in this thread are of extortion dressed as debt collection. Consumer debts in America, including payday loans, are a *CIVIL* matter, not criminal! Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "mediators", or "prelitigation specialists", only sweaty criminals with a script full of bullying remarks. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.

My notes from October 2011 on payday loan and "hot check" collectors are linked below.

Received call from 401-223-3258 a man saying they received a fax for summons to file and if I wanted to correct this prior to be served at home or office to call them.  They also gave a file number.  I ignore all phone calls especially those that don't have an 800 # to call.  They are fishing for info.  Blocked them

They have two others number they call from which i have already blocked which is probably why I'm getting a call from this one. Lol. This time is was a dude which was a refreshing change. Said he received a fax stating he was sent paperwork to serve me blah blah blah.. it was slightly different from the other calls in wording. I appreciate their attempt to liven things up a bit. Still going to report and block this number.  I might call and see what info i can get from them and see who they are supposedly working for. Last time it was supposedly for capital one. This time i see people saying it was for life account which i don't have so.. who knows. They are full of it. Don't panic and worry if this was your first. If you have a capital one card then call them and report this. If you have a life account,  whatever that is, call and report there too. Tell them no information.

OMG, I received two calls on my cell and work number April 3, 2014 from 701-223-3258 stating they were from a summons court and I have two cases of fraud against me.....the messages were the same as everyone else's. I filed a complaint on the consumer do not call site, but wondering if this will have any effect at all. I wonder, how the h--- did they get my information. Anyway, I guess documenting times, dates and messages is a good idea. Is there anything else I can do? Thought about emailing my local news channel to let them know this is going on. Will be sharing on my social network sites too.

I received the same call today, April 3, 2014. They called twice - once from (401) 223-3258 and once from (302) 300-1102. These are scam calls.  I have been getting similar calls from various people for the past few years.  I stupidly took out payday loans and I think my information was shared or stolen as a result. Be careful, there are some alleged companies that will call family and friends or your place of work. They are relentless and shameless.

This group (who did not give their identification which automatically throws a red flag in since all agencies are required to identify themselves and give their id number, the county or city and department calling) called me using Damanja Priester as a name saying I had 2 charges filed against me (they don't call you they just server you bunch of idiots!)  against me attached to my name and my social security number in the county (lol what county and they are by law supposed to say their name...)
said to call back and give this info:

Case#QJ12879
call back number 401 223-3258
and ask for the legal department

WTF I don't live in that Rhode Island... much more know anyone that does.

I am on a do not call list and will be reporting them and their activity to Internet Security.  Your Phone Carrier Service as I did so they block it.  DO NOT CALL THEM BACK.    I called AT&T and reported it and they are working on it.

As should you if you are reading this.

"James Keller J R. I'm contacting you from the process and summons division. I'm calling to notify you that there will be two charges filed against you in your county looks like for Karen activity has been attached to your name and your social security number. James Keller J R I do need to make you aware of your legal rights to which fresher charges prior to them being filed against you. You would need to do so before you receive your summons at your place of employment or at your home address. Once you're served your rights will be forfeited. Your case number is AA2196. Their telephone number is 4012233258."

Their message said I would be served at work or at home for fraudulent activity connected to my name and social security number.  I called back they wanted me to give them my social (NOT) they said it was to confirm my identity.  I told them to give me the social they have on file and I will confirm it is me.  He hung up!

Scam call.  You don't "forfeit your rights" if you refuse to call.  You also don't get a heads up if you're being served a court summons - the process server just shows up, unannounced.  Please do report your caller to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Your caller will likely try again - don't give them the time of day.  If they were legitimate, they would've sent dunning letters and a debt validation letter, not made threatening phone calls.

They called about wanting to serve papers to my place of business (which there is none, since I've been unemployed).
Implied that I forfeited my rights, but if I wanted to rectify the matter, I could call...(The call cutoff before the number was given).
