They use dialers and don't need a list, scammers don't and won't obey laws anyway. Most numbers are spoofed also.

This is a real scam, as in trying to charge your credit card for things you never get. They employ EngageTel of Wyoming to manage their "do not call list", 307-223-0458. A lookup of that number gives you "TeleCall", but that is an illegal DBA name being used by EngageTel to confuse them with the defunct Intelecall Communications, Inc., DBA TeleCall Services. EngageTel supply "compliance services" to the phone spamming industry. The call that comes to your cell phone is placed by a 3rd company, PaeTec, which is hired to do the dirty deed for the scammers. Defender Security's web servers and their own telco systems are managed by SolveForce of Yorba Linda, California. SolveForce is not authorized to transact business by the California Secretary of State; contact person is Ron Legarski.
So, this is pretty typical. Layers of fraud. You can pick who to push back on. If you don't harass them back at least as much as they have you, you are asking for it. Defender Security is the No. 2 fastest-growing private company in the Indianapolis area. David Lindsey was the Ernst & Young Entrepeneur of the Year in 2009. Check out the donations databases. He gives generously to the Republican party. 41 year old with an $800,000 house, paid for by defrauding you.

I use "Privacy Star" on my BlackBerry and easy peasy the calls are blocked and don't go through! Best 20 bucks I ever spent

These sleazebags started calling my cell phone after I had my landline disconnected because the scammers were using it more than anyone else. They say they will be ?in my area setting up FREE alarm systems? (what a crock!) Just when everyone and their brother gets wise to the Nigerian bank letter scam, they come up with new ways to hump on our leg that are just as insulting.

second time this number has called. I'm on DNC but it doesn't seem to matter. Called back and got message telling me to press 1 to be placed on DNC list.
Maggie 2010-11-17 21:52:25 Unknown
We get this call 5 times a day they use to talk and now they never say anything then the line goes dead we are a business and have told them to stop calling and we are on the do not call list but its not stopping.
The Truth Be Told 2010-11-14 07:55:36 Unknown
Get your facts straight people. "Spam Avenger" is the spammer giving false information. All the information be has posted here is a bunch of information that was haphazardly taken from all over the Internet with no relation to any parties mentioned in any of his spammy comments. So what is boils down to is that Spam Avenger is only a spammer who is living up to their name.
Mary 2010-11-12 19:15:23 Telemarketer
"If you want a home security system press 1" etc. I made the mistake of pressing buttons to get a human and have them remove my number. Instead after I'd pressed 3 for "are you a homeowner" which I'm not, was just trying to get a human, it hung up the call. When I called the number back I got a message saying the call cannot be completed as dialed.
me 2010-11-11 19:33:53 Telemarketer
when you answer and the messege begins, press 9, this will take your number out of the call data base, this also works well with all the other calls you get.
beantwons finest 2010-11-11 17:00:23 Unknown
has anyone tried "setting up" a time to have an alarm installed? also how did you find all of these numbers and manager names and what not. sounds like useful info.
Tim 2010-11-11 16:54:47 Unknown
Well educated info here. However keep in mind, if the company is not 'robo dialing' every time you call an 1-800 number the phone number your calling from (caller id) is locked into their system. So even if it is for your car insurance claim, remodifying your mortgage, or anything else under the sun your phone number has the potential to be locked into a system and then sold for pennies to alternate companys. Does it happen even when they say, "we won't give out your personal information?" Depends on the company and what 'loop holes' they can swing.
All in all, pester back, sure you can.. Or just never answer. It costs money to dial numbers, a person will go bankrupt if they don't make 'the sale.' After time (maybe a month) they give up and move on to the next million numbers.
Cricket 2010-11-11 15:55:40 Unknown
So what you are saying is that I should call them at all these number? Will that work? Ans yes my bad I actually called this number back....SIGH :(
Thanks for this site!!!

They don't get your cell # from anywhere. They computer-generate millions of numbers and call them by computer at random. Which is called robo-dialing and is illegal. File a complaint with FCC and FTC.
