Got a new phone number a few months back, and this number has called twice after 5:00 pm but didn't leave a message.

just called again - 8:51 pm - when I answer, "Hello". NO ONE replies - just stays on line until  I disconnect- what's the point?? But it's a little unnerving, esp. since I live alone...

Debt Collector.
Like many of them now a days, this is an automated voice, and you can't actually talk to anyone.  It is purely a harassment call for their records.  They make these calls so that they can record having "tried" to collect, and in fraudulent cases, will report to the credit bureaus that they've worked out a payment plan, thereby updating the bad credit.

Our "government" has laws against this behavior but it doesn't do anything about it, and the target is basically helpless to do anything about it.

Same as Barney, got a call and they hung up from PentaGroup and I too don't answer calls that I don't know.

About every 3 days around 9 or 1 inthe afternoon they call.My friend who had a lot of debt from long years ago says it is nothing but a spin off od the dirt bags of asset acceptance and portfolio recovery scum bag debt collectors.I never aqnswer calls from numbers I don,t know.I keep my ringer cut off all the time on my answering machine and phone.Only special people have my cell number.

Got a call from this number.Caller ID says penta Group.I don't answer calls that I don't know.My friend says it is another one of those collection scams from the dirt bags of Asset acceptance and Porttfolio Recovery scumbags
