sales call from Monitronics..Road Island area code calling me in Colorado..what a scam.

Received my first call from this number. Did not answer. Caller ID says "Security."

Came up obcid as security..I picked up for a few seconds and hung up.s

I've tried a couple and Digitone is the one that I settled on.

Came home from a trip and security on caller I'd. Thought I had pressed 9 on all these scams!

I use the Digitone Call Blocker.  It works perfectly and has many options.

Sewer rats are on the prowl again..calling me from Road Island I am in Arizona.They know that the FCC is a useless government agency.so they keep violating the law knowing that there are no consequences.

I agree 100% I have the same blocker and love it.............I am with AT&T Uverse.I have had this blocker since April 2013 and I have 162 numbers blocked..this unit can block 1200 numbers,it can block 10 different area codes,it also blocks criminals with no numbers on their caller ID.

This came up as "SECURITY" on my Caller ID.  Of course, I did not answer it.

Call from # 11:02 a.m. 9-9-13 - Didn't answer; no message left.  Caller ID said Home Survey.

don't call!!

Called 9-9-2013 @ 11:28, stated wrong number and hung up when I answered call, "Police Department."

Robocall - This is not a sales call - the blah blah about crime in my area and friend or relative had recommended me.  Pressed 1 to talk to a person.  Lady introduced herself as Lisa from GE Home Solutions.
I asked her what her number was to start to gather contact info and she hung up on me.
Robo sales calls are illegal, telemarketer refusing to give contact info is illegal. So is lying (this is not a sales call.)
I don't have caller ID but the *69 service gave me the  401-562-1453 number.

If, upon entering solely the name of a company in a search on Google, the second entry that pops up is from Ripoff Reports, it is easy to guess that the company in question walks on the illegal side of the law.  One of the previous posters on this site maintains that this number, (401) 562-1453, and the spiel about ?home security? are from a Dallas-based company called Monitronics.  There are 185 complaints regarding this outfit on Ripoff Reports, more than I have seen (to date) on this site.  

Check it out for yourself.  Just google ?monitronics? and see that the first entry is the company?s, the third is Wikipedia?s, and in the middle, is Ripoff Report?s.  If for some reason it does not pan out this way for you, then check out this link:

From the tone of the second complaint, dated 5 September 2013, it appears that it is not wise to even pick up the phone when these crooks call.  It?s an old trick; pretending to guard the hen house while raiding the place.

This number called me with a very Jersey accent, I thought it was a friend of ours, thought he was kidding around until he said I have more Balls than my husband, then when I said I needed to know who turned us in to this service, we have had probs with people doing that, he said I had a bigger d.....k than my husband and then hung up. Would like t o report them for sure.

Monday, Sept 9 2013, at 12:09 PM.  Telemarketer recording wanting to sell me home security products.  I am on the national do-not-call list.  I called this number back and all they have is a recording to press any number to be removed from their illegal phone calling list.

I don't know anyone in Warwick, R.I. Added number to the call zapper.

Caller ID said Warwick R.I. Left no message on VM.

Not a Home Survey.  Rob call. Started out as saying that it was not a sales call.  That I lived in a high crime area and a friend had given my phone number. That I was entitled to a "Free Security System"  I hung up then, because nothing is free and this is just another scam.  Last week, the scam was a free health monitoring bracelet from another group  .

Then went on about your area having a high rate of crime and that a friend had given my phone number.and that I was entitled to a free alarm system.  I hung up then. Another scam.  Last week I was entitled to a free health monitoring bracelet.  Another scam also.My call was also from Warwick RI.

A message meant to frighten people into Home Security Systems.  When you call the number back, it gives you the option of pressing any number to be placed on the do not call list.  I've tried this every time they have called--without success, they just keep calling.  It's from Warwick, RI.  Too dumb to get the message.

Rang on landline.  
Went to v.m.  
Left no msg.  
Caller i.D. displayed Warwick, RI.

Caller ID showed Home Survey.  No message.

Says is it not a sales call but then proceeds to talk about a rise in crime in our area and we can get a security system installed.....blah, blah, blah........

The question is "what is a reliable call blocking device?"  I have reviewed many of them, and they all have their faults.  I have Comcast phone service with a their modem.  I want to block unwanted calls before the phone rings.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is my complaint to the State of PA and Federal Do Not Call registries: The caller ID showed "Home Survey", the recorded message said that they weren't selling anything. I spoke to a female to gather details for you. They were offering a "free" GE Simon XTI home security system and installation. The catch was a monitoring fee of $52.92 per month. When I mentioned that the normal rate around here is $20.00 a month, she hung up. Was able to get that she was representing the Monitronics Co., as they would be doing the monitoring.

Mine says "Wawick, R.I.".  I've seen posts that say it's a security compnay from Verison.  I've blocked their number.
