Mr. Jack Hoff calling you with more Robo-Call spam.
| Michael 2013-11-08 23:41:14 Unknown |
Robo-call directing you to find the business owner and have them sign up for directory listings on google.
I tried pushing the various buttons to be connected with someone there (I really wanted to talk with their business owner) but got lost in a mass of robots.

Our small business has recieved as many as 20 calls per day from bogus and rude people claiming they are with our credit card machine company. We always know it is a red flag when a company asks to "speak to the owner of business ". A company should already know your name if they are already in business with you. This is when we called our credit card machine 1800 number to see if there were any recent issues or problems with our transactions. They told us no and that they have not contacted us recently.
These people are a hassle and are getting smart by calling from various bogus numbers. All which i find are harassing other businesses as well. Here are the numbers that call us and harrass us daily
972 428-5200. 754 229-3399 904 683-9145 904 683-2930 435 363-8315 401 562-1484 321 710-1991. ALL of these numbers never has a real company name when our caller ID pops up. It always has just the phone number . (another red flag) Our only solution for the time being is to check our caller ID and NOT answer.

My business gets a lot of calls like this. I pressed 1, and then when I got a person, he asked for my first and last name. I asked him what company he was calling from. I was immediately disconnected.

Another google-wannabe scam attempt..

When I answered this call, I got a recorded message from "John," my "business manager for my site listings on Google and Bing." Yahoo might also have been included. I was told to press 1 to be listed, and that if I hung up, our followers would not be able to find us. Since we don't use Google for hosting and we are subscriber based, and since we have good communication with our readers, I hung up. Certainly sounded like a scam.

My quick easy fix. Get an air horn and push the button to speak to a sales person. It works.
Rarely do I get calls from companies again when I do this. Pretty satisfying.

Once again I enjoy this sight, this number came up and I got on here and decided to just pick up the phone and hang it right back up

Caller ID read "Local Search"
I know with the area code 401 (Rhode Island) that it was not a "Local" call, but a scammer. I just picked up then hung up. The End.

Same as above. Since there are only a couple of postings here, this is obviously these scammers newest spoofed phone number they are using to get around number blocking.
You always hear people complain of being on the Do Not Call list and that it doesn't work. Actually, it does work. What people don't realize is that all the law abiding telemarketing companies do honor the list and do not call. That leaves the scammers, ripoff artist, con men/women, and the companies that figure they are too small for the FTC/DNC to go after. These are the ones who are calling. They know with the law of averages, that sooner or later they will get someone on the hook to scam. Even if these companies are legal, they are breaking the law and, I for one, would not do business with any company who breaks the law to get my business.
The bottom line is that it is an almost 100% guarentee that these calls are trouble for you and you should avoid like the plague.
As a side note, it makes one wonder what will happen if guns are legally outlawed (please note: I am very much opposed to gun violence. However, I do own guns).
Please feel free to copy any or all of the above to pass it on.
