Just received a TEXT from this number - 401-903-0706 - saying:

"Hello this is Mr Dennis Covers from United Health Group am i speaking with ______ _________ (my name)?"

This is obviously some kind of scam or spam and certainly NOT anything I'm going to do anything with.

Gotten 4-5 of these calls today.  "Just testing the line".  I've got more to do than answer the phone for them.  Concerned what they are up to.

Got a call from this number. They called 7 times in about 5 mins. They asked if we were **** (A Business name) And I  said yes,  I couldn't understand him very well. When  I asked to speak to someone I could understand they just started dialing numbers.

401-9033050 keeps calling my phone has been happening for months

I received several calls saying they were checking our phone lines and now I have my bill in front of me and I have been charged for some long distance calls that we did not make. Sure would like to know how to stop this. My long distance carrier is Excel Telecom and when I called them they were no help whatsoever!!

Why do they need to "check the line"?  We are a verifiable business all over the US & Canada........

called repeatedly until I answered. Asked of this was me (business name) I answered, they responded with "checking lines" and hung up. Immediately called me back, three more times.

Got several calls today 10-5-12 asking to confirm our name. ... finally I told them we were the local police department and would be contacting the police in their area to find out why they were calling us. That seemed to shake up the caller and he proceeded to babble about doing this work for another provider.

They have called our office service times today as well, never say anything.  Does anyone know how to report them or who to report to?

This number has been dialing me at random several times a day for the last few days.  I never pick up and they never leave a message.  Interesting that they are 'trying to verify/check" the line - my guess is that they are trying to track people - but why I don't know

I HAVE A MOTORCYCLE FOR SALE AND I CONSTANTLY GET TEXTS FROM THESE NUMBERS TELLING ME TO SET UP A PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND THEY WILL TRANSFER THE MONEY INTO IT BUT ONLY AFTER $990 IS PUT UP OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO COVER SHIPPING ON THE BIKE THAT I AM SELLING

They just keep calling and calling and calling, but never say anything. They just hang up after I say "hello" for the second time. This is getting annoying!!!!!!!!

They call us many times per day. We are in Louisiana. It comes up on CID as Rhode Island.
Does anyone know how to reach them and tell them to stop?

Multiple calls in same day. Won't identify who is calling.

They call there is no one there then after 10 calls they ask is this Mr A's and hangup. I think maybe when you pay to have your number called for leads and they say that they guarantee 10 leads a month maybe it's tied to them?

called me 6 times this morning and asked my company name and then hung up

Received a call from 401-903-3050.  We are a law office and they called today and said we are just checking the phone lines and hung up.  We are in Ohio.  This is odd!

Same here asked my business name and said they are testing the line???? WTF  is there a scam going on???

We keep getting phone calls, hang ups several a day from 401-903-3050.  Extremely annoying, they never say who they are.  Please stop calling us........

I just got a call from this number. I said "hello" and they hung up.

They started calling our business today, called and called and called, Finally spoke with someone who told me they were sorry and hung up..........I was not real pleasent to deal with especially after they woke me up from a nap........

called at 2:43p with no voice message left

I have received at least 10 phone calls from this number this morning. The first and second time they
said they were checking the line, when I asked what that meant they hung up.  I didn't answer
any calls after that

Our business is receiving a plethora of calls from this number.

We have had four phone calls from this number today.  The first time they asked for our company name and said they were checking the lines.  The other three times there was no one there and the line hung up.

Ok so this just was the 4th time they called today asking me if the name of my business and I asked finally who it was instead of just answering them like i have been and the foreign man told me they are a communication service provider "just checking the phone lines" and i looked up csp on wiki and basically, they are... "a service provider that transports information electronically. The term encompasses public and private companies in the telecom (landline and wireless), Internet, cable, satellite, and managed services businesses."

I can't take it anymore. I'm a secretary for a law firm and they have called 3 times today "is this xx's business?" I say yes. "Ok, we r check the phone lines"

haaahaha.  so i got the old "just checking the line, ma'am" from these people, and i refused to hang up until i got a dial tone. i kept taunting them, and they taunted right back. "you want me to hang up?" "yes" "that's what we're trying to do, ma'am. we're just checking the line."  "no, you're trying something else. what are you trying to do?"  "just checking the line ma'am"

all of which was intermittent with a strange "beep beep", but never them hanging up.

this went on for about 3 minutes, before i finally got a dial tone.

they've called back once so far, with silence on their end.  i just keep waiting for the dial tone before i hang up.
