I have the same problem. They were calling me about an electric utility bill from Maine. I have never lived in Maine. I live in the southwest and I have since 1969. I have a very very common name. I get the impression they ase dumber than rocks. They can see from my area code that I live 3000 miles away from Maine but they call anyway. I give them my SSN and they say they will remove my name but two weeks later the calls start again. I had to go out any but a Digitone 10 call blocker to finally get rid of them. They still call, like they did today but my call blocker hangs up on them after it decodes their caller ID.

This is indeed a collection agency and they are rude they don't care if the bill is yours or not. I live 70miles away from them and they keep giving me an address that is in omaha. I keep telling them that it is not mine. I finally went to the sheriff's office and filed a harressment case on them. Because they were saying they were going to take my car for payment for nasty tactics I think if they were a bit nicer to people they would get some of these people to work with them and pay their debts they don't realize people are falling behind and have lost jobs and the last thing they are worried about is people yelling at them. They were served their papers on me and tried to contact me again and I finally got to talk to a manager and he was just as rude and I advised him that they were served papers that day and they were not to contact me as I do not live at the address they are claiming I do or have I ever lived at that address. And if they called me one more time. I will be taking them to court and they would be paying me for mental distress. I have not heard another word from them!!!!

They are indeed MCA collecting a bill for Council Bluffs, IA  Seems alarm monitoring company failed to stop third false alarm after faulty equipment reporting and sent the police out again - costing me $ 150  Maybe I should change monitoring companies!

They have been calling me for months, causing me to changing my phone number tomorrow. I've called all the credit companies and they have no record of my debt they are speaking of....... I need to know how to report these freaks so they stop. My bills are all caught up too and the company they are saying is out of buisness and they have no phone number for me to return a call, or email. They gave me a mailing address and was a vacant lot in Penn.

Merchant Credit Adjusters are the worst debt collectors. They constantly perform illegal pressuring on people.

I too have asked for a paper copy of anything they believe they have for me to pay, and have been denied numerous times.

As I have also contacted my attorney about this, he has also said until they provide documentation, I need not answer, nor respond again to them.

these people call me all the time under different names on caller ID but the same number and thats ok, its just the normal debt collector stuff, but when it gets out of hand is when they not only  call my mom & dad (and their cellphones) my grandparents my best friend and at his job, my moms workplace, and just today they called the pizza place i go to, this s*** is ridiculous

I keep getting calls from this number. I am just grtting over cancer and a lung biopsy. I realize I have major bills to pay and am doing the best I can. I will not answer numbers I dont recoginize as I get charged for them. Please leave a message as to who you are calling for and what it is about.

The call keep calling me. I looked up my credit report and it said I owed a balance of $0.00. So basically they have collections out on me for $0.00. Wtf!? If I don't owe anything then why is the collection up and why do they keep calling.

I get several calls from this number also, mine was for a medical bill from a major surgery that I had, since I was paying on several bills for any of you who have had surgery you know all the different types of bills that you have to pay, when the lady called me i was very nice and asked if I could have a copy of the bill that I needed to pay and she proceeded to tell me that she did not have to and I needed to pay my bills and she would not have to call, so they can call me 100 times a day but until I can have a copy of the medical bill that I owe, they will get NOTHING FROM ME!!!!!!

I got a call from this number today. If it is NFM, too bad they would not agree to join my consolidation, they would be paid off by now!!  They refused to join it therefore they will wait until I can afford to pay it off, AFTER my consolidation is done.

keep gettong calls from this number.. must be a colection office.. wish they would at least leave a message. im not calling them back and i dont answer phone calls that i dont recognize.

To a ''not me'' case like yourself -- and "Susan Goochey" and "EZ" -- I always recommend putting the agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

If you'd seen the FTC material I linked to above, you would already be aware of this option. Try to pay attention to the threads you comment in.

Someone with a heavy accent named ZeeZee called and insisted that he talk to someone who does NOT live here.  Wouldn't listen to me when I said nobody by that name lives here.  Said he would keep calling back till I let him talk to whoever it is he wants.  Reporting to BBB and tracing calls to report as harassment via phone company or police department.

I have been receiving calls from this number almost every day anywhere from 8:30 to 12:00 for the time the call comes through. If they can't leave a message I am never going to answer.

I have been receiving phone calls from 402-614-6023.  I understand that it is a debt collector.  We are NOT in debt and do not appreciate being called constantly.

But if they have the wrong NAME, wrong BIRTHDATE, and WRONG PERSON and they keep calling?  My bills are alway spaid on time and I have never been sent to a debt collector - and they got my number somewhere.  They keep saying they will take me off of thier list but they don't

Yes, yes, your pals at the office who curse on the phone, make illegal threats, frighten family members, and refuse to stop calling workplaces on demand need constant protection from ambushed consumers. Then anyone who actually shows a backbone and doesn't do exactly what you want to score your commissions is accused of being "combative", "uncooperative", and so on, regardless of one's politeness.

So here's the new plan: Move to a paper trail, take away the collectors' permission to call, and make them "take care of business", mainly providing validated proof of claim. THEN we can discuss being "nice" if they've managed not to break any laws.

I have been receiving calls for whomever had my phone number before I got it. I have had this number for 4 years or longer. This number keeps calling me.

keep getting a call from MCA out of omaha.  Says they are a debt collector.  Trying to get us to pay on a past due late fee from Nebraska Furniture Mart.  We've never received such a bill from NFM.  Most of the time they call, they hang up as soon as I pick up the phone.  I called them back and they lady was totally rude and nearly yelling at me.

Received two calls today from this number, no message left.  Annoying!

Been getting a lot of these in the past month. Since the only bill I currently have is my mortgage (up to date), and my utils are paid,  I presume someone must have given these idiots my number, which I had for over 6 years.
