Got a call from this number and while it was obviously a telemarketer I could only understand part of what she said due to a heavy accent. Still not certain which company she was calling on behalf, but it couldn't have been an electric/energy supplier since Oregon, or at least the part of Oregon I live in can't choose which power company they use.
I told her right off that I was on the do not call list and to not call my number again. She said, "I understand ma'am, but you don't have to sign a contract". I said back to her, "Do you understand what a do not call list means?" and then told her once again to not to call me.

This # and similar ones keep calling & hang up
ls 2013-01-14 21:10:11 Unknown
answered but EXTREMELY noisy background - sounded like a party - person never identified herself and didn't want to listen to the noise so hung up. Wish there was a way to stop these ridiculosly noisy calls from some call center miles away from where they are calling. Even if it was for a valid reason couldn't possibly hear what someone was saying over all the background noise.

I have Verde and they do NOT have a cancellation fee, And YES you can go to puco.ohio.gov and see for yourself. Thats where I found a list of suppliers. We chose Verde because they dont have a cancellation fee. Im not sure about the $5.00 fee you spoke about to change suppliers. I dont remember seeing that on my bill. Maybe thats for people that keep jumping from supplier to supplier, but not sure about that part. Been with Verde for about 6 months and have referred many people, even at church. Gave me a $50 check which was pretty cool too. Wish I would of knew about the choice program sooner, lol.

Due to deregulation of energy generation in Ohio, there are several suppliers that a customer can choose from. You can contact Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to get information on the various suppliers. www.puco.ohio.gov.
From what I can tell, this is Verde Energy. Many of these suppliers are telling customers they are affiliated with or are DP&L to get them to switch. They are targeting the elderly and those on Budget Billing or PIPP. Do not sign anything or give them your account number because they will switch you without telling you. There is a $5 switching fee and if you do switch, there is an early contract termination fee of $175.
AS 2013-01-07 18:44:51 Unknown
To correct more of this misinformation: DP&L is still supplying electric. As a customer, you may choose your supplier. If you wish to stay with DP&L, you can. DO NOT sign any contracts or give out your account information. There have been problems with these sales people switching customers without their permission.
AS 2013-01-07 18:39:38 Unknown
Why would you tell them there is no cancellation fee? There is; generally, $175. There is also a $5 switching fee and Budget Billing and PIPP are not supported. DP&L will still provide electric service, no matter the supplier you have.
For those interested, check out www.puco.ohio.gov. They will explain the Utility Choice program, give you a list of legal suppliers, and can answer your questions in an unbiased manner. You can also check out www.dpandl.com/choice or http://pickocc.org/electric/choice.shtml. You can also contact DP&L and they will send you a brochure explaining your options.

ITS CALLED THE UTILITY CHOICE PROGRAM...IN THE STATE OF OHIO THE DEGREGULATION MADE IT SO DP&L NO LONGER PRODUCES THEIR OWN ELECTRICITY. THE PEOPLE OF OHIO ASKED FOR HELP SO THE CONGRESS PASSED A LAW THAT ALLOWS YOU TO PAY LESS ON YOUR ELECTRIC BILL...VERDE ENERGY IS JUST SUPPLYING YOU WITH THAT DISCOUNT...THEY NEVER SAID THEY WERE FROM DP&L JUST CONTACTING ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS...ITS A GREAT PROGRAM AND IT WILL SAVE YOU ALMOST 18% ON YOUR ELECTRIC BILL...I WORK FOR VERDE ENERGY, THERE IS NO CONTRACT OR CANCELLATION FEE WE JUST ASK THAT YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE DISCOUNT THAT RIGHTFULLY YOURS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

yes...it was an obvious salesman named Michael...he was tying to "save me money" on my electric bill by pretending to be from Dayton Power and Light in Ohio.He wanted to send me a bonus check of $50......I argued with him and told him I wasn't interested and he just hung up on me!! People like this make me mad...they pretend to be someone they are not and can confuse people...especially older people. It's not right.

The woman who called had no idea who she was talking to and did not care. She spoke like a machine gun and did not let me get a word in edgewise. Most annoying.

This number called today, ID says, 'cellular call' and as stated above, when I looked the number up by area code, it's a Nebraska call. Caller left no message.
SsS 2012-07-25 01:48:28 Unknown
He says his name is Nick Sylvester from Selectel in Florida (1877-821-5715).
He wants me to confirm my service provider is Verizon. He is offering me long distance service from Selectel.
