George is right. Same calls, different number. They use a relay system so the Caller ID doesn't mean anything anymore. When you try to talk to them to be removed from the list, they do indeed hang up on you.

As far as I know, there is no recourse. They seem to call cell phones only and the Do Not Call list is ineffective against such people.

Best advice - do not answer long distance calls at this time.

Got a call on my cell phone 4/11/2009 at 11:54am.
I didn't answer, but tried to return call... It was always busy. So I googled it and found this website.

As a little note about callerid for all these scammers, its useless. They can easily set up their own voip servers and tie into the Telephony thru very cheap back end providers. When they do this they can make the callerid string whatever they want it to be. Technically it is illegal to misrepresent but that wouldn't stop them.
Also the same back end providers can give them numbers from about anywhere so you cannot assume anything about the location from the area codes or exchanges. They could be in Russia and have an exchange from Chicaco etc.

Pretty much the same deal here.  I pressed "9" to speak with someone and tell them in no uncertain terms that I was pissed off to have received this call.  I think next time I'll offer to give them my credit card and bank account numbers if they'll just give me a street address so that Messrs. Smith & Wesson can deliver them in person.  $%&#&

I have the same issues with this number. They call my work number and when I hit 9 to speak with someone, I immediately tell them I do not have a credit card with them and I want to be taken off their calling list. Both times the operator has hung up on me! I do not understand this at all and it is really frustrating! I tried to call the number back, but it is busy.

Call said it was, "calling to confirm that there are no problems with my credit card."  I don't have a credit card!

The number they called (my number) was published on one website on the internet as part of a business.  Also, the phone is a recently activated Tracphone.  This should help people track down where they got the numbers.  They're either mining them on Google or they have a scam going on with Tracphone.

The call then went on to allow me to connect to a live operator by pressing #9.

The "operator" sounded like some thug on the other end of the phone, slowly (and stupidly) drooling out a "hello."

I mentioned I was not happy with the call.  His response??

"This is Experian."  Yeah... right!

Anyway, when I asked to be put on the do not call list, he hung up on me.

The same phone is also getting those vehicle extended warranty calls.

I'm almost 100% certain they are mining these numbers off Google.  Some federal agency ought to bust them.

Automated voice tries to get me to "lower my interest rate" on my credit card. They don't mention who they work for so I know their not in any way related to my actual credit card company. They also have called me multiple times from different phone numbers.

***Highly likely this is an identity theft scam.***

At best it is just an illegal phone spamming scheme for a loan shark.

I got the call today also at 11am central time.  I did not answer it and my cell always tells me what state the call is coming from and this one is suppose to be out of Nebrk.  with the Internet it may as well be some thief den in Nigeria or Russia or even Germany and a room full of thugs sitting around calling us non-stop and for every one of us that don't fall for this crap and seek info there are God knows how many people out there that fall for what ever bs they are feeding.  I did not answer the call when it came but i did hit *67 then the # 402-982-0466 and got a recording from what i think may be my cell carrier Sprint (i hear the same males voice when I dial a # that is incorrect or disconnected so that is of no concern to me I know the recording i hear is sprint.  but the # is suppose to be a non working #...maybe because I called it with the *67 it does that but i am sure if i called without the *67 I may get a different response.  they may have a system that can tell the difference in a private call or not.  Who knows.  But i am calling the FTC Monday to file a complaint.  I think the more they get the more urgent they make the matter to keep some ignorant fool from giving them all their info and first born.  I cant believe someone is stupid enough to give out info on the phone to anyone who calls them.  My bank had to call me back one day regarding a theft to my account (a fellow co-worker stole my debit and credit cards)  but when they returned my call they told me to discuss anything with me even though i had been talking to the same woman for a week and knew her voice well enough, i had to call them back, which is great safety for a customer and more places should make that a practice. I think we customers need to demand more safety for our info and more places will set up safety practice much like the one my bank pratice.   I just am amazed to think how many people fall for crap like these phone calls though.  And they are normally left broke and looking like a victim but a stupid victim that did help a thief along...hell if i was not so honest i would just pick up the phone and call people and say....you walked through my store one day and you didn't pay the $99.99 cover charge to enter and I am making a "courtesy call" before i take legal action.  Now that just sounds stupid but i am willing to bet i would have a few takers people can be so dumb. So its not so much catching these people who do these things,I think the biggest way to fight back is to teach people to not be a victim to these thief's.  And how about people that get a $2500.0 check in the mail and a short letter telling you its yours from some lotto you never heard of but for a "small fee" its all yours just cash the check and send the money on to some idiot you never heard of in you life.  And for no damn good reason these Dishonest people run to the bank and cash the check and then find out in a few weeks it was a bad check, part of a scam.  Now you cant tell me for one minute they were thinking Hmmm tis is too good to be true? Oh no just my lucky day...I win money from a contest i never heard of and out of the blue when i hear on tv and read in the papers about scams all the time but oh no tis is the real thing.....Now they are as much of a thief as the person that they was told to send the money to...i am sure they had a gut feeling about it but they being dishonest too seen a undeserved "win fall"...People stop making yourself a victim!!!!...please your making poor people like us get stupid calls every day from people who look for people like YOU!  Okay folks I hope I have helped our problem here somewhat!  LOL...I think some people just want to be a victim though, they would have to know all of these types of calls and letters in the mail are bogus..Good luck on the calls folks!  Do what the one person did...call the FTC...and report these idiots

This is a scam. It played a recorded message in English with a woman's voice telling me that the federal government has just lowered interest rates, and I could lower my rate to 4.9% but this was my last chance. I had to press 1 in order to talk to someone to do this. So, I pressed 1 and some guy who could not speak English at all said he was so and so and then paused for like 5 seconds while he read off the name of the company he was supposedly with (it sounded like something Life) but I couldn't even make it out, so I hung up immediately. I would NOT give anyone on this line your information since they don't even associate themselves with a particular credit card company.

Calls seem to be from Financial Services Omaha,NE 68102
Also saw a post about where scheme companies like this get peoples information and remembered I saw the same thing on several Auto Extended Warranty-lower credit card rates-etc. telemarketing. In the opt-out areas of alot(not all) of these scheme telemarketing mail/Emails are "If you don't want to receive offers from this or other companies call the consumer reporting agencies toll-free 1-888 567-8688 or write: EQUIFAX OPTIONS / EXPERIAN INFORMATION SYSTEMS / TRANS-UNION OPT-OUT request" They say that since you have decent credit they were notified/sold your information by these and other credit companies that you are a good prospect to sell their offers to, so this is where many scheme telemarketers are getting peoples info from. Just thought some of you might be interested in this, it may not be all places where they get your info from but it is one place alot of Auto Extended Warranty-lower credit card rates companies get your info from.

getting the same type of cold calls to my FTC DNC registered cell number and have made numerous FTC DNC complaints, but they keep calling. They've used 402-982-0461 / 0462 / 0463 / 0464 / 0465 / 0466 / 0468 numbers to call with no caller id and 2 times left a voicemail with music and some guy humming. They never leave a proper message or answer these cold calls either, websearch shows it's some company called Fin-Serv out of Omaha,NE area with numerous complaints. They are using an outbound line so when you try to call back it doesn't accept any inbound calls, several companies use this phone system so outbound calls don't get tied up. Sounds like a SHADY SCHEME TELEMARKETING company that doesn't identify themselves.

This is a telemarketer scam. They call and sometimes don't even respond when you say hello. You then might get the "hit 9 for more information". If you do, there is a deceptive salesperson who reads off a script that makes it seem as though they are with your credit card company. They are actually from a different trying to get you to sign up for their card and do a balance transfer.

The best thing to do is to actually listen to the come-on and find out the name of the credit card issuer they are trying to sell you, THEN report that issuer to your local attorney-general or prosecutors office for fraud, etc.

Just got a call from this number also on my cell. Didn't answer it, but one post said when they did the person said they were from Experian, which is one of the credit report companies.  It is possible that they would be calling me because I had made some changes to my credit card and they probably want to make sure everything is okay.

I got a call from the same number and it was a recording that says "This is account services calling to offer you a lower rate on your credit card.  Press one if you are interested."

So since I don't have a credit card I decide to press one so I can catch them in a lie.  The guy answers and says, "would you like us to lower your interest rate on your credit card?"

I say, "are you from my Bank of America credit card company or my Chase credit card company?"

Guy hangs up because he knows there's no way he's going to get the answer right.  Then they call back the next day and try it again with me.  Doesn't matter if you're on the DNC list or not.  They don't care.  They also use 626-273-8212 with the same recording.

Oh yea and if you hit that button to be "removed from their call list" they just call you from another telephone number with the same exact recording.

They say they can lower CC rate. I play along with them to keep them on the line till they get pissed off with me. It has been great sport ad libbing story lines to them, but they seem not to call too often anymore. This technique seems more productive than asking them to remove my name from their call list.

I agree.  The best way to sack these leeches in the groin is to waste their human resource time.  Get a human on the line and drag them on as long as you possibly can.

What are they going to do report you to the authorities for wasting their time?  Actually they call me less the more I waste their time.

Only thing I wonder is who exactly are the suckers they make their money off of?  They wouldn't do this if they didn't make money doing it.  So who are the dumb suckers out there?  I never give any personal information out to anyone that calls me.  Coincidently I don't get suckered in either.
