Got a call from this company wanting to set up a security alarm system.  Another scam!!!

I get these calls all the time and I keep telling them I live in a manhattan apt.  like everyone else with a 212 area code.  apparently they're idiots.

Make them pay!  File a complaint at donotcall.gov AND ...

I've asked repeatedly to be taken off these lists and they still call.

Solve this problem with a SILENT ring tone.
To do this use the record option on your phone. Record SILENCE for 1 second. Save the phone number that you want and assign the name "Do not answer". Assign the silent ring tone to this number.

After that when they call you will not be bothered because you will not hear a ring as it is silent.  The only way you know they called is when you look at your phone and see that you missed a call. When you see the missed call was from "Do not answer" you can just laugh.

Does not block the call but otherwise solves the problem.

Just got a call, no MSG left and its my work cell phone.

The FBI called me , and wants to know if I would Put an Electric Fence in My Backyard to Monitor My Neighboors Activities.

A. This is The United States, and that is illegal.
B. They don't talk to you directly, they have a recording of this.
C. The recording does'nt start till you say something, it's voice activated.

They also call from 213 Area codes and ask if you would allow them to come into your house and place wire taps to monitor your neighboors.

Sounds Phucked up, Americans being treated as terrorists, we're being labled and I won't take any part in doing this to my neighboors or any other Americans.

This is a Privacy issue, invasion of Privacy is a crime, and it's still The United States, So the FBI, CIA, and everyone else from any of these agencies should go catch some real criminals for a change, and stop harrassing us with these inane phone calls.

you're all knuckleheads - they use a legal list of opt in leads - i am sure they use the same list that MANY telemarketers use which is 100% LEGAL!!!  what happens is either you or somebody with your phone number entered it onto an OPT-IN list - this means that you gave them express permission to be called - maybe not with them exactly, but that doesnt matter - you gave them permission and i am sure, as with any other telemarketer that calls you, they can prove that they have your information and it was obtained LEGALLY...  ha ha idiots, just get to a live person and verbally tell them you want to be taken off their list - if you just hang up THEY ARE GOING TO CALL AGAIN because you are just giving their system a non-statused call and to clear out the number they most likely need a status - use your brains here - DONT ENTER YOUR NUMBER ON FORMS IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE CALLED.

Has anyone else on this post recently given their number out to BrightHouse Networks, or another cable company?

I too, have been getting these calls suddenly - after giving my number out to BrightHouse. Just wondering if there is any connection...hmmmm....(maybe I've been "sold out" by my cable company)...

This needs to be looked into. I have been on the donotcall list for over a year, and they are still calling. I have received 2 calls in the past couple of days. I filed a complaint on the government website, and they are still calling. If it is a company, they need to be shut down.

Just got a call 6.17 pm...they did not leave a message.

I just got call from this number. They didn't say they were the FBI they said they were  Home Ground Security. Fraud!

Lets put it this way, I dont fill out forms let alone put my phone number on it, hell I didn't even put in on the census form, but I still get these types of calls, and not to mention I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST! So, there goes your theory!

Got the call from 402-982-0705 on my cell which is used mostly for calls from grandchild serving in Afghanistan. 2nd time this has happened. Will someone stop these folks?

Call came in on my cell, which only those that need to know have the number.  Do Not Call registry is a joke!

Got a call from them too.  Didn't answer and no VM.

The phone number 402-982-0705 is being used by an abusive telemarketing company hired by ADT Home Security to sell their alarm monitoring services, regardless of whether or not you are on the DO NOT CALL list.

QUESTION:  Do you really feel comfortable enough with "ADT Home Security" to provide your home with protection when they so blatantly ignore our privacy laws?  I don't.

Exact same thing:  Calls a couple of times a month and when I call back a recording says to press 1 if I don't want any more calls about special promotions.  Who are they?

This number called me while I was at work, said 'Nebraska' and then the number 402-982-0705.  I didn't answer it.  It sounds like the same scam that other people were reporting on another thread from a different number.  It seems as though people are getting calls from a fake security system company, asking people if they have home security, etc.  It's obviously not legitimate, they are just scanning/targeting houses to see if it would be easy to rob/break into.
So.  The lesson is simple.  Don't answer and don't confirm your telephone number.  I never answer the phone unless I recognize the number or I know who is calling.  If it's really important, whoever it is will leave a message.  And if they don't, it's probably just another scam.
