Today this number called my brother in law and ask to talk to me. How in the world they know his phone, my name and that we are relatives.  We both block number. These people should be caught by police and put in jail for some time, then they will think twice before they disturb people. What a idiots.

im going through the same problem with this guy and it's over an invalid debt. did some research on the legal regulations that they are bound by and it turns out they are in violation of a lot of things here. so i took some notes and made a list of things to bring up next time they call so i can put them on notice that that they are in violation and that gives me grounds to lay charges. you can also look up the fair trade act AR194/99 for the full document. im gonna post these notes here for others to use if they want:
1. ask if they are aware of the fair trade act (they have to be) if they say no then they are in violation
2. they must provide info on who they are so ask them to send you a certified copy of their license and the company's license so they can prove who they are and what their authority is and who is collecting the debt. the name they give when they call you must be the same or they are in violation and many of these people use false names when calling.
3. ask to provide the original instrument of indebtedness. it is the valuable security (note: money is a valuable security) so you want the real deal, not a photocopy. you wouldnt accept a photocopy of a $100 bill for payment on something would you?
4. ask for a certified copy of the claim and details pertaining to it.
5. ask for a written report of the status of the account that shows full accounting and validation of the debt
6. if they say anything about taking legal action ask them if they have consent to take legal action. do they even have authority to do this? probably not as this would most likely require a contract between you and them which clearly does not exist. they will have to provide a certified copy from the creditor that outlines their authority. this also implies that you must have received something from another party as a loan up front so if they are coming after you for a bill owed for services that you did not agree to then you're totally off the hook on that one because there is no creditor.
7. keep track of how many times they call you because they can legally only call you 3 times a week.
8. ask for proof of a valid contract between you and them as they are trying to do business with you and this requires your consent. even if you do owe money to a company or something, that contract is between you and the company, not you and the collection agency so they have no valid contract to enforce anything on you.
9. ask them to prove that they are not in violation of the bills and exchange act/supreme court rulings or that they do not fall under that jurisdiction (which they do)
10. ask them for proof of claim that bank notes (paper money, well plastic now i guess) are not debt instruments, which they are. how can you pay off a debt with a debt?
basically all you need to do is put the burden of proof on them. you are staying in honor by conditionally accepting their claim once they can actually provide proof. the good thing is that if they have your private info they are in violation of the privacy act and that is a big no no and if they cant provide all of these things to you then they have no standing against you.

Same number - called six times today, no voicemail and I didnt answer. I dont owe money, and Ive had my phone number for 8 years. No idea why they would be calling me.

I received the same number call me for a while now. I never answer it. So weird that when I googled this number this tread came up! Ahh!

Getting many calls from them... just got a new number 1 week ago, and not many of my friends even know it is my number now... no way a debt collection agency would be the first to get it. They don't know my name or anything, so I would assume this is a scam.

Anyone have any more information on this?  Like for example who they collect money for?

They sounded rough around the edges, but they helped me out.  Turns out I owed money.  They let me know about it so my credit wouldn't get destroyed.  Sure, they are a typical collections agency, but this one is different...they do litigation.  All I can say is don't avoid them.  They ACTUALLY mean business.  : /

We've been getting calls from that number also. They never leave a name or company with the message.  Then today I got a call from 403 215 3340 and a guy who said he was Eugene and wanted to talk to my daughter. When I asked who he was he didn't really want to say and finally gave me some initials with a C W and L in there.  When I asked what that stood for, he didn't want to tell me, so I said I'd call the police then.
He knew our address and it freaked me a bit too.  Real, responsible companies are usually willing to explain and give their name and details....

I got the same call, but it was a woman, i told her i passed away 2yrs ago, she said sorry & would take my # off there list

left a message this morning claiming to be calling from the SAIT (southern alberta institute of technology) claiming in regards to a student account.

I just received a call from "Mr. Lake" saying I must call him back as he has a very important message for me. I googled the number and found this site and I am very weirded out as well. There is no reason for a collection company to be calling me either. I live in Calgary

Mystery wierd guy called again. Only used my first name, which is all it says on my voicemail. Number showed up as OutsdCalChrstne again. Hi Courtney it's Mr. Lake. Please call me back. Left no number or anything. I'm in Calgary.

Got a call yesterday-voicemail.  He got my last name right but not my first name...just mumbled something.  Said he was a lawyer calling from W.D. WAKE  and associates and I must call him back that day.  I googled the name and found no lawyers in Calgary with that name.  Called the number he left- 403-215-3313 and got voicemail. I checked the number on the internet and found this thread...interesting, weird and a more than a little bit creepy!

Hey I was wondering...I got a call when I got home today...Same deal with his name...Got mine ALL wrong and said "I MUST call him back before Friday August 3rd...Or else". Whats the deal with this guy...on his VM...you can hear someone in the back ground talking abouit something...cant really make it out. Anyways...when did the calls stop for you?

I have been having issues with the same guy. Won't tell me why or what he is calling about. Starting to scare me

I have recieved  5 calls from this 403 215- 3313 number this morning. This guy claims to represent some company that has been retained to take me to court and wants my home address. He sort of got my name right but when asked who had retained him or his company he then said it was none of my business and wanted my Postal code. I hung up on him and they or he has called back 4 times since. Anyone else recieve calls from this person. The company had the name wilson and associates attached to his original intro. couldn't understand his first name though.
