Same Al as above. Accidentally answered this because the number is similar to a business call I was expecting. They have lost all legitimacy in my opinion, if they ever had any to begin with. If you have goods to donate, call the Salvation Army, Goodwill or your local church.

If they're legit then they need to stop using auto diallers that show up with call display names like V60212573600139. I'm not going to trust any organization that uses this. And these guys have been auto-dialling me since August of 2013! If they're legit, then whoever is in charge of their call outs needs to be fired.

Community living looking for used household goods. They are legit as I have donated used goods to them before. They are in diffrent communitys at different times and are trying to make the pick ups at specific times hence the continuous calls.

They never picked up when I left a bag of clothes anyway, so I started saying "no", but they call incessantly. They're blocked now but they still try at least once/day.

And then they tried again on Apr 22 14 (I was away but it was recorded on my call display). ID showed up only as Telus. Again, I repeat if they want to appear legitimate they need to actually act legitimate. Leave a clear message on voicemail, and have their name show up on call display. It only costs a few bucks to set VM up with Telus.

No, I mean no longer legitimate because I and many others now automatically assume it is a scam. Therefore it is no longer legitimate. You can also use the term no longer valid. Same thing. It's sad but the blame rests on the scam artists who have ruined it.

Phone solicitation is no longer a valid method for non-profits due to abuse. And the fact whoever they're using doesn't have proper caller ID makes it impossible to tell if the actual organization is calling. As I noted in my report last summer, it was suspicious enough that I phoned the organization directly and reported the call and a possible spoof/phishing attempt. If they aren't getting the message, they're wasting their time. Many charities have had to abandon phone and e-mail solicitation and the scam artists are to blame.

Based on huge amounts of experience, legitimate businesses usually leave a message. They also have a proper business name registered for call display. This caller does neither. And also because 99% of these calls are scams. Unfortunate but true and verifiable.

Same Al who reported in August 2013. Looks like they've come round to my number again. Left a blank voicemail this time.

I wish legitimate charities like this would actually use caller id instead of coming up as "unknown". I might answer. I don't answer "unknown"

Legitimate charitable organization, therefore not required to comply with do not call registry. They will remove you from their list if you request it. They collect used clothing and donate it to the Calgary drop in Center and the Goodwill stores. Annoying when they don't leave a message but we have donated once or twice in the past.

Could you explain a bit more?  I googled the adress you gave but it seems to be a multi unit complex so not sure who I should be looking at. Was considering having them pick up some donations....unless I should be avoiding them for some reason?  Thank you!

On what basis is it "definitely a scam"?!! Because you are annoyed by it?  Everyone should block this number - You don't even know who it is!  You may be right but then - how would you know.

What do you mean "no longer legitimate?". It's definitely legal (even so far as to be one of the exceptions to the National Do Not Call registry).  If "no longerr effective" is what you meant to say then I would expect that some people would be willing to donate and others would not - much has always been the case.

Whether or not they "realize" you have boxes near your house, one could assume that the entire idea of the call is that they don't want you to take your donations to the box and in fact, very much want to be the recipients of your donations, instead.  I'm happy to hear that dropping off is convenient for you but perhaps you could imagine that there may be people who would not, for any number of reasons, find it as convenient as you do and perhaps might even appreciate someone coming to pick up!

Well, they are starting off just right in the New Year.  Just got a call from this number but my caller Id said it was an international call.  I don't answer international calls to begin with.  They went to voice mail and didn't leave a message.

The phone rang about 12:50 PM Calgary time and because it was a local number I answered it.  I got about 10 seconds of dead air with me saying hello...hello and then a computer generated voice said "Goodbye" and hung up.  I just love these types of phone calls!!  NOT!!!!

Same Al again. I ended up taking this one by mistake because it's a similar number to one I was expecting a call from. Claimed Alberta Association for Community Living, but I have no way of knowing this to be true, so I hung up and called the Association's Calgary number (403) 717-0361 and notified them about the call and explained that for all I know it might have been someone spoofing a number from overseas. Certainly the guy who phoned me had such a thick accent I could barely understand what he was saying anyway. The association is legit, but telemarketing is no longer a legitimate method of soliciting donations, I'm afraid; one needs only peruse this site to see how it's been abused.

It is Community Living, Calgary wanting donations.  I have pleaded with them to remove me from their call list but although they say they will...they never do!!!  Calls come sometimes 3X/week.  Am sick of it and because of their harassment, I will NEVER donate to any non profit organization who uses telemarketing to solicit donations.  So sad.

It is the right charity, but the stuff they collect is sold through Value Village.  They only get a small portion of the proceeds.  Good if you want to get rid of stuff, but recognize that some of the value is going into Value Village's profits too.
