We received the 2nd call from 403-770-0543 today, the 1st one left no message on the answering machine. The gentleman said he was calling from the Canadian Police Association, asking to speak to my husband by name, regarding the threat to young children from pedophiles online, in the community, and bullying issues. He said the police & the school boards were putting on this program Canada-wide and were looking now at the Grande Prairie area. He said that they, combined, could not afford to fund this program and were looking to the people in the community to assist with the costs. He asked for a donation of $35/child. He sounded quite official and I asked if I could call him back after discussing this with my husband. He replied to save me costs of the long-distance charges he would call me back tomorrow night. Calling back the number, I received a recorded message "Thank-you for calling the information line for the CPA." When he calls back tomorrow night, after I call the local police to check this out during the day, I will tell him that I will take my donation to the local police station as I am sure that they will be aware of any fund-raising that they are conducting going on here." That should take care of it.

I would not send a cheque or give a credit card number. It would be a very wise thing to offer to take the money to the local police station to send it in for you. I am sure that the local police would advise you if this is truly them calling for money or if the Canadian Police Association asks for money from the people to fund these things. It is very possible that this is not a legitimate call and the police will thank you for bringing this to their attention.

Well, here we go again, yet another scam.  Got a call from this # just a few minutes ago but comes up as "unknown name" - well guess what, I NEVER answer anything unknown.  It boggles the mind that the appropriate authorities can't or WON'T step up and get rid of these scammers.  They know it happens and they know who they are.  And why are the service providers still allowed to provide these morons access to telephone #'s to use for their demoralizing practices.  How much longer does the innocent public have to deal with this crap?  ENOUGH ALREADY!

this isn`t the first time i`ve gotten this call from this number, but the first time i`ve returned it to find out where it`s coming from. got a recording like everyone else,have never spoke to anyone and now i know not to bother with it anymore. thanks for the tip will pass this onto more people in alberta and so on.

I get phoned by these people from numerous phone numbers. This is definitely a scam. The Calgary police chief announced on the CTV news that the REAL police will never and have never phoned people asking for money donations. He was very concerned with this scam because the caller is very aggressive and will stop at nothing to get your money and so many people, particularly seniors, are willing to give their credit card number to these fraudsters.

I just got a call from 403-770-0543.  They asked for me but I said I wasn't there.  I then asked them what this is regarding.  The man said "customer service" and hung up abruptly.  THis is a scam and I would advise all not to respond and to block the number if possible.  I get so many strange calls I am seriously considering just having a cell phone and not a land line.

I've been receiving calls from this number for weeks. When I don't recognize the number I don't answer it. I googled the number and here I am. Obviously a scam. Hoping they will eventually stop calling.

Calls dozens of times from this number and never leaves a message. When I finally answered out of curiosity to see who it was, they were seeking "donations" for a non-existant police foundation. I used to work for CPS, and know that they NEVER collect any kind of donations for any kind of community program, especially by phone. Community programs are funded through their municipal budget. Dont be fooled. SCAM.

Wow! Scam indeed, I kept wondering why this 403-770-0543 kept calling saying something about raising money for the Calgary Police Services. And I agreed with the other folks about not providing any info over the phone. I always wanna do my backround checks, and clearly this is laid right here. Truly a scam!

i have gotten numerous calls from this # told them the police don't solicit for money like that, the caller persisted for a credit card number (after being told i do not own a CC) and i  informed them that i will view any further calls as harassment and they would be reported to the real police. there was no response, they just hung up. we'll see if they keep calling.

I just received a call from this number, they asked for me specifically. I told them " He's not in right now, can I take a message." The guy said his name was Damine Schmit that he would call back. I asked what it was regarding and he said "I'm just calling to thank him for his business, I'll call back" and just hung up. The number was 403-770-0543. This is a total SCAM!!!!

I just received a call from these guys I told them I was constable David Petters and was with the Red Deer RCMP they asked me for a 3000 dollar donation I said I didn't have that kind of money than they got rude so I told them I was going to trace the number and start a investigation on them than they started being polite and hung up on me lol I'm glad I googled this number the first time they called so I could mess with them lol.

I received a call from this number... Same thing told by everyone... said they were from CPA Cops for Kids, what their program was about, and would I make a donation.  I told him that I do not make donations over the phone, and to send me information about their charity & I'd be happy to look it over & decide with my husband if this will be one of the charities that we make our yearly donations to.  He said no problem, he'll send me the info with my invoice.  RED ALERT!  I knew it.  I said, I am not making a donation yet, to send me the info.  He told me they do not send info without a $$ commitment, and I told him that until I confirm they are legit, I will not make a donation.  Guess what?  He says you can look us up on-line & you will see we are legit, and will call back in 2 weeks.  So I Google "CPA Cops for Kids fundraising", and a find a slough of articles from CPA Cops for Kids none the less, about cold calling telemarking scammers.  Then I Google the ph # & find this forum!  I have warned all my fb friends & posted this #... but what more can we do to file complaint?

The same # called 2 days in a row.  I did not pickup the first call but did google the # and saw all the complaints.  The 2nd call was picked up and the woman on the other end said she was from police services.  I called her on it and asked her to take me off their call list.  She was quite aggressive and would not stop talking.  I had to hang up on her.

This is the third call i have received from these people this week i told them that i do not give my credit card details over the phone and do not wish to be contacted by them again i have  had 3 calls i have answered and 7 missed calls from them seems they dont understand the word NO!

this number called twice first time i didn't answer they didn't leave a message second time i answered and a man with an english accent and aggressive tone calling himself Peter Nolan asking me if it is the residence of my family name i asked who are u first and where are u calling from he replies sternly trying to sound like a policle man that he must first identify me first, i told him that he is calling me so he must identify himself first at this he replies he replies back strongly " so we are going to it this way eh " I reply back sharply if he is a telemarketer at this he hangs up. This is obviously a scammer, but the irony is that this person who is calling and assuming the role of police or a person of authority actually dialed a cops house.

They just called here, did not get to the phone in time so I called them back,
it was a recording "we are presently experiencing technical difficulties, please call back in 48 hours" One of these days I will catch one of these bastards, I cant wait!

This is a scam number. It is not the police. It is used to collect credit card information from unsuspecting people. Beware!

I just received a call from this # and like others did not get to the phone in time. I called it back and got a recording that it was the general information line of the Canadian Police Association. The CPA's contact # is in Ontario, not Alberta! This is like the old "send a child to the circus" scam.

1 403-770-0543 just called in an attempt to solicite funding for sexual predator education. When I said 'no' that I prefer to donate the RCMP station directly, they dummied down the amount they wanted. I insisted 'no' again and they got rude. Needless to say, they met Mr Dial Tone.

I have got a call from 403-770-0543 the guy said he is  from Police Association, they are raising fund  to protect child  and youth ... I said  I can't afford then  he push me to gave at list $25 and a credit card. I refuse to give a credit card on phone but promised to send a check. I am a new immigrant, the place I came from we fear a Police,  Even if I am a good Citizen  I think I scared the word Police and promised to send a check.

Just received a call from (403) 770 - 0543. The caller, who sounded Canadian, said he was calling from the Canadian Police Assiciation and was solliciting donations for a police program called "Safe Kids". I told him I need a written request, by mail, in order for me to consider donating, and that I make all my donations once a year in November (& I do so by Cheque). I offered him my mailing address but he was very agrressive and wanted me to commit myself to a donation of $20,00 or more before he would agree to spend money on postage. I ended the conversation with a comment implying that I suspect his call to be a scam.
As I write this I think back to my 7 years as a Citizen On Patrol member and I never heard of the Police soliciting funds for any organization.

This dumb-a$$ phoned me today as well saying he is from the Canadian Police wanting to solicit money.  I told him to phone 911 and ask for the police and hung up.

Too funny...I do not know what made me google this number...but I did...and good to know about it sooner...and I did not answer it as well.
