A guy with an East Indian accent said something like "Hello Bob, I'm calling about your computer .." at which point i hung up. I think he was going to tell me he was a technician from Microsoft and they had detected a "virus" on my computer that he was going to fix if I just followed his directions to give him access to my computer. After which I'm sure he would have pillaged any valuable info and access to friends and family, and then implanted a virus to send to my contacts and freeze my computer which he could fix for what would be a succession of payments through Western Union or some other untraceable means. If you get this call HANG UP ! ...

got a call form this #...tried to call it back and a recorded mssg came on saying that this # has been disconnected.

Received the call in Calgary at 1:15pm on Sunday. Did not answer as I was screening. THey did not leave a message. When I called back, it said the number has been disconnected and is no longer in service... Probably a sales call. But on a Sunday?

Caller ID reported caller as "asterisk".  No one on the line when answered.

message left @ 08:00.....sigh.....really other than dumbass collection companys who calls before 9am!

The message stated they had a important business matter in there office that was very time sensitive and could only be resolved by calling back today!

Just called me in Calgary, said he was from the "windows division" bla bla bla, ask how I was, I told he he didn't care and told him this was just a lame scam and hung up. If I'd had more time I could have done better,

Called at 12:36 am and 3:27 am while I was sleeping  - not happy!!!  I called it this morning and it says the number you have called is disconnected or no longer in service...... grrrr!!!

Recorded message from "Business Funding Centre", claiming that they could help with government grants for home based business.  Implies that they are affiliated with the government; gives a number in Ottawa to call (not a toll free #).  Scam?  Me thinks so.

This is a number of a Skype gateway, meaning if somebody calls you via Skype sometimes this number shows up as called id.

Someone called me from this number and claimed to be from a marketing research firm called SDC. It was a filipino woman who asked questions regarding air quality. The questions did not seem related to air quality as they morphed into work related questions. At the end of the conversation I was told I could win a prize and they asked to phone me at my home phone number if I do win.  I refused to give them permission to call me again and threatened to report them to the National No Call List if I was contacted again.

The caller ID shown on my phone also looked dubious: J052302451380005 instead of the marketing firms name.

This number appears sometimes when someone calls you using certain types of long distance calling cards

Our home phone for a few years was apparently thought to be a fax number as we were constantly bombarded with them... you answer the call and your eardrums are practically burst with the loud "beeeeep" of the fax on the other end. Oh, um, we do not, and have not ever owned a fax machine.

This went on for a long time (several months at a stretch, over a few years). Finally at the beginning of this year, some research led me to a company called Faxsipit (faxsipit.com) which by adding my number to the "fax removal list" finally seemed to lessen, if not stop the nuisance calls. This was only effective against a couple of numbers that, identified themselves being associated with Faxsipit...

Other research of the numbers led me to out-of-province phone companies to which I sent nasty emails in an effort to have these f--ing faxes stopped. All other numbers were added to our "Call Block" service through our phone provider... which (disappointingly), is limited to only 10 numbers, all of which we have now used.

After a reprieve of several months without a call (perhaps only one or two over that time period), today, alas, we have been targeted again by F---ING lamers who think faxing people who don't have a fax machine is funny. I kid you not, within 11 minutes we received 3 fax calls, all from different numbers: 403-410-2058, "unknown" (oh how I love that they can mask their number, jerks), and 403-770-0786.

Oh, and the National Do Not Call List... biggest joke ever. Don't bother with it.

We have really tried everything: the NDNC list, faxing back (using free online faxing services), contacting our own phone company and the supposed providers of culprit numbers, fax removal requests, blocking numbers through our phone company's service, and posting several times on sites like this. Nothing really seems to work... why not change our number? Who's to say it will stop, and that it wouldn't happen with another number?

Often times the number posted here and on similar sites, is told by the poster to that they actually spoke with a person, with varying degrees of severity (scams most likely), sometimes it's a fax or nothing at all... the results of research vary just as much: call made using Skype, masked called using another company, research companies, local area numbers that when calling/faxing back result in non-existent numbers. Are you kidding me?? So what do we do? Keep posting until someone can figure it out?

I got a call from this number but wasn't at home. No message. Also another number which is reported on here also 697-6637. Not surprise there were no messages. Tired of it though. Caller Id for the name though was interesting for this number V0415055215000. The other number had similar variation where a name should be V0416042853000. Not any name I know of business or person. I so tired of these stupid phone calls. I only answer calls from people I know. Blocked/Private calls also fall in the almost never answer.
