Same thing in Canada but they wanted $287.00 ea. Very persistant. I told them I would never give out my card # without checking them out first.  They kept talking so I finally hung up.  They also require us to get our own flights to Florida and Cancun.  Are people still falling for this scam?

Hi tonight I had the same thing happen too me, exactly.  I'm out of Canada.
She was very persistant, kept asking me for my Card number saying starts with a 5 right.
I told her i don't feel good with giving my number out over phone.  She tried using, well when you make a hotel reservation, you give your cc# over phone, well this is the same thing.
The same 5n/4d in Orlando
7day rental unlimited mileage.
4d/3n at Dayton Beach  Plus
Cancun or Caribbean
We only had to pay $194/person, the $388. for 2 adults and kids were free.
I told her to call me tomorrow too, but said they can't they would loose my information, or something like that.  I asked can I send a money order?  She said they deal with all credit card companies, that they were legit.  She would even, after with the conformation#, she would go with me on the line and credit card company and confirm they were legit.  I said I have to go get my card outside, she said she can wait, take as long as it will take, she got paid by the hour.  I called my cc company out side with my cell, asking if they had heard of this company UNITED, they said no.
They told me it sounds like a scam.  To me if I won a contest, wouldn't it be all included...They told me that they covered only 75% of the trip.  I was on the phone for about  45min.  She wouldn't let up.  Anyways I said not give it to someone else...Luckily.   I tried the number after and it said BYE.

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation (see Metloser's 21 Feb 2011 post below), free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number,  or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

Got a call from 403-800-3418   telling me I had won  trip to Disneyland, in florida, wanted  to know if I had a valid visa, I asked what this was going to cost me, she would not answer kept insisting she wanted to talk to my husband.  I hung up. If you win something you shouldn't be asked for your visa # plus I never give that type of information over phone.

(403) 800-2418 called today and I spoke to a woman by the name of Angela, operator number 3128.  She told me that she is affiliated with Disney and that I used my e-mail to register for a draw.  Over thousands of people registered and only 3% of the people were picked.
Details of what we won are:
Trip for 2 to Florida. (guests 3 & 4 at no charge)
5 days/4 nights at one of their hotels outside of Disney.
7 day car rental from Enterprise, unlimited mileage.
tickets to Disney or any Theme Park we wanted.
4 days/3 nights in Daytona Beach.
Plus a tropical vacation to Cancun or Dominican (I think)
We ONLY had to pay $194/person, $388 for the two adults and visit a meeting while there.
I told her I didn't have my Visa on me and that I wanted to talk to the hubby and she became very insistent, until I hung up :)  Call back the number, it's been cancelled.
Sounds like a scam.  If I have won something I would think it is for the whole thing :)

I got this call as well on Feb 16, 11 I took notes from call the 1st lady I spoke with her name was Angela local 3128 she confirmed all my info and told me I won a trip to disney land and an additional trip to mexico and all i had to do was pay $194 a person to confirm my trips which I couild take within 12 months.  Sometimes I apply for stuff on line so I continued to listen to her BUT.... than she transfer me to the 2nd person who's name was Anita she was over the top.  The first lady agreed to send me all the information to my email address so I could review it but this 2nd girl kept saying over and over again.  That I should know what I signed up for and that I could only get the trip if I paid "now" told her I did not have my visa card on me she said she would wait as she gets paid by the hour... I hung up on her.  Total scam have not tried to call the no back, do not care to Besides that who wins a trip and has pay for booking should all be free 'everything"  be careful

Got a call from this number 4038003418. They said that we won a trip for 2 to disneyland. Needed to know about our credit cards for booking the hotels for the trip. Told them to call back later and send the info to our email accounts since they should have them anyway since we apparently applied through an online website. I called them back immediatley but the message said the number has been cancelled. Going to f*** with them the next time they call back.
