I have not booked a flight recently and received too calls today -one to my work land line and the other to my personal cell. It was the same recording "Attention you are entitled to a gift as a special West Jet customer" Or something to that effect.

someone has to stop this i run a company and get these phone calls all day long it is interupting my business practice as i use phones constantly to troubleshoot with my customers how can i stop this?

It is purely a coincidence. Hundreds of Canadians are getting these calls, including myself, and I have never booked on WestJet. The spammers are using the names of many reputable companies, such as Air Canada, Air Miles, etc. Not just WestJet's. It's called Brand Spoofing and unfortunately there is nothing the companies or police can do about it as the spammers are located overseas.

As soon as pick up phone I just ask which credit card they prefer and what personal info they would like of me.

Yes... just happened moments ago to me. I booked a flight yesterday. It sounded fishing - or phishy - to me, so I didn't pick up.

Two calls from this number in less than half an hour; first time it said 'Unknown', second time, just the number. Like many others, I do not answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. If it's important, they'll leave a message. I suspected it was a political survey and I see from the responses below, it most likely was.

Got a call on my cell just now. No message.

They just called my work number which is one of over 4000 in the company.  They actually left part of a voice mail.  I apparently won 100,000 reward miles and to press 1.  Not sure who was giving out the reward miles since that part was cut-off.

I received a call today from this number and heard an automated message saying I had won 100,000 aeroplan points  and to press 1 - assumed it was a scam so hung up.

I pressed one, got asked if I was over 25 and a credit card holder, then tranferred, to a guy who said "who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?" at which point I hung up.

Judging by these guy's accents, it would not take me by surprise if it turned out they were Somali pirates or calling me from Nigeria.

They wouldn't be doing this if it didn't work on some people... I feel very very sorry for those people.

"Cancun Calling" is a scam that masquerades as being affiliated with Airmiles, Walmart, Zellers. and others. They have a website and will try to get you to put their promotional code into the box on their pate, at which point - they'll be into your computer. If you don't have a computer, they will work their way around to selling you a trip for $700 per person. Then they'll ask for your credit card number. They are already lying about their affiliation ( I know because I emailed these companies and asked), do you really want to give them your credit card number?

Just got a call from this number (403-967-1221) I missed it wasnt sure who it was so I googled it and found it was a scam.
I see it has been around for awhile all other posts are from oct 2010.

Just got a call from them.. while it was ringing, like I usually do, I google the number. Saw this page turn up so I didn't answer. Stupid spammers!!

Supposedly from AirMiles, wanted to let me know that I was the winner of 25,000 air miles and wanted to know my credit card number. when I said I don't have one, they hung up.

I got the same thing last night at 8:04 p.m.  "As a valued Bell Canada customer...".  Whoever the a**hole is who is running this scam should be prosecuted.  Of course, the RCMP probably have something more productive to do with their time like practise a Musical Ride.  What a joke law enforcement in this country is.

I just received a call from these clowns on my cell phone, with a recording that I was a favoured Bell Canada customer and that I needed to press 1 to claim my prize.

just got a call an hour ago said they were with air miles u just won 100.000.00 air miles they then put me through to some one and said do u have a credit card.  I said wut never mind and hung up.  Later called back from a landline the number is disconneted.  I reported it to my cell phone provider.

Got a call just a minute ago from this number, didn't answer, and they didn't let it ring long.

The best thing that every one should do , it's " if you don't have any bussines with ppl in the refered area code or others unkwnow , just don't pick up the phone !

Just received a call from 4039671221 and was put on hold. Thought I would wait and get removed from the list but no one answered after 3 minutes. Automated message told me I had won 100,000 airmiles reward miles. I am I card holder for airmiles and they called me at work. I wonder if their system got hacked?

I got this call too. It says 'you have been chosen as an Air Miles customer to win 100,000 air miles if you press 1 now.'

Just called me here in the 519 with offer for 100000 air miles. I pressed 1 and was connected to a telemarketer selling Mexican holidays. I told him I didn't want a holiday, but that I'd happily take the air miles. He went back to the holiday deal, so I asked if there actually were any air miles. He said he had to go through the offers to see. I asked why I was told I had won the miles if they weren't available. He stumbled around a bit, so I told him I was reading about this scam on my iPad as I talked to him. I asked for his company name so I could confirm the prize with air miles, and he hung up. :)

Just got a call ...told me i'm the winner of 100000 airmiles and to hold...then some videogame music played for 2 min....

hung up and tried to call back and the number was out of service

I'm in Windsor, Ontario-just got a call 5:48 p.m.... been getting an average of 2-3 calls a month for the last 3 months, various numbers, Vancouver, Washington State, one was from North Carolina, told me they were calling for a Windsor federal candidate, but they couldn't pronounce his name, then told me they were in Ontario... honestly... just a pain in the butt...

I am in Vancouver and got a call at 1:30 pm from this number telling me I had won 100000 aeroplan miles. I did not press 1 as asked. Called back the number which apparently is not in service. Obviously a scam

I received the call last at my home phone and when I called it back said "the number you have called is not in service". What's up with that?! Today I got the same call on my cell. I didn't answer because I didn't know the caller. When I went on the computer I found this forum.

I also just got a call on my work phone but i ignored it. How annoying! I hate these types of calls. Just a scam!
