Received the same thing again today from a different person or e-mail address but with a different dollar amount listed.  Not sure who these people are or what they want.  I just added them all ot my blocked senders listing to avoid future e-mails or they can all go to my junk folder to be deleted right away.  I am not responding because I have read this this company is a scam looking for personal information.

Received an e-mail from ACS Legal group regarding a loan from a company that I have not heard of; I am suppose to call this phone number listed in the e-mail.  They claim that I owe this company $573.00.

Here is a copy of the e-mail- seems like a scam:

Due Amount- $573.00

I think it is funny myself. I have received several emails in the last few years from them threatening legal presecution. Today I received one:

Dear Debtor,
As you are aware, you have a small pay day loan bill of $997.45 that remains unpaid. We feel we have done everything possible within reason to collect the money you owe us. We have decided that unless you make immediate plans to repay us this money, we will write this debt off our books and claim it as ?bad debt loss? to the IRS.
Did you know that any money you owe us and don?t pay should legally be declared as ?additional income? for you or your business during the year in which you incurred the debt?
If we decide to write off this debt, we will use IRS form 1099-A which will show the IRS that the $997.45 became income for you and bad debt for Advance Cash Services.
Please, for your sake, pay this bill or contact Advance Cash Services to set up some type of Settlement plan for you. If we have not heard from you within 2 days of the date of this e-mail, we will submit papers to the IRS to initiate action.
Sincerely,
ACS Legal Group (Legal Attorney ? Advance Cash Services)
(404) 418-5006
Here is a simple question: Do you really want the IRS poking around your tax returns to see if you claimed that money as income? Wouldn?t it just be easier to pay your bill?

Too funny. Clearly states: "should legally be declared", doesn't mean it is. A form 1099-A is for an Acquisition or Abandonment of Secured Property, not a bad debt. I can not believe they think we are this stupid, with no resources to search. Real sad thing is, I believe some people are falling for this crap. Please help to protect and educate our society.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I just received this same email regarding a BS loan. Please spare me, they don't even have a grasp of the English language. Don't even bother  calling them. They can't shake us up via phone so now they are using emails. I quote, " when you are found guilty into the court house you will have to pay all of the costs." Please, what the heck is guilty into the court house mean??? My cousin is a Superior Court Judge she would get a chuckle out of this. How about if you half wits got a real job and left hard working American citizens alone, we have enough problems to worry about without this crap!! They don't even address the email to you, it a mass mailing. Wake up sheeple, don't fall for this and loose your $$!
