One more number to add to my "blocked" list for good ol' scum-sucking Portfolio Recovery.

Rule of thumb....don't answer 8** numbers.  855, 866, 800...etc, unless you are expecting a call from one of them.  Eventually they will grow tired of receiving voice mail or no answer and stop calling.  It can be annoying but only if you let it.  I've tried this and it worked.  I was getting inundated with calls from overseas pharmacys, and would answer, tell them to put me on their "do not call list" but it didn't matter, they kept calling.  Then I decided to just not answer, after about 3 months of not answering, the calls have stopped.  Also, DO NOT USE THE "DO NOT CALL" REGISTRY.  The way it works is that when you are on the supposedly "do no call" list, they submit the list to telemarketers so they don't call you.  Unfortunately, in submitting the list, they now have your number and completely disregard the "no call".  The list then gets sold to an unscrouplous marketing company and badda-bing, you have everyone calling you. The government is quite stupid!

If you can prove that all payments were made, I would take them to small claims court and sue them for your state's maximum.  Back into the total figure but adding interest, loss of wages, pain and suffering, etc.  It's more than likely that they will not show up to court and you will win by default.  Just a thought.

They (PRA) just started calling me again. They started 3 years ago, then stopped for a year, now they are back at it. I never answer any calls from them. You would think they would give up and try a new person to scam.

Maybe we should try calling their office everyday! I just got off the phone with Paula Shark , so she says her name is....
I told her to stop calling my # ___ you are harrassing me by calling morning noon & night & when I pick up the phone & say hello hello hello I hear a disconnect. Why doesn't anyone want to talk to me? She said well maybe the computer doesn't hear what you say & I need your name in order to take your phone# out of the computer. I said NO, I don't give out my name, you tell me why you are calling this #? She says, by law she can't tell me who owns the # (my phone #), I said, you aren't answering my question, why are you calling this #? She goes, I can't answer it unless you tell me your name, I will hang up if you don't tell me your name. Oh, I said, are you threatening me? I will report you to the FTC & NYS Banking & any other place I see fit. She went on to say she couldn't give me info. without a name & I repeated what I said earlier & told her I will report her.

Portfoolio Recovery experts have called us 22 times during October of 2013. Last year, 2012, they called 9 times in October. What deep meaning might we find in those facts.?

BTW, their dopey lawyer, Pearson, was forced to write me a letter by the AG consumer office first week of September of 2010, in which he stated "we have decided to cease collection efforts." Proof positive that they are idiots or verminous scum, as that was more than three years ago, and today's call was #427 since then.  

So, my friends, these are not people to be taken seriously. They are bottom-feeding pond scum. Do not answer; if you do by mistake, do not give out any information, not even confirming your name or address.  just hang up.

And if you find them annoying, then send them a cease and desist letter, by registered mail, return receipt requested. Even if they do not bother to return the receipt, which happens  -- most of their employees may not know how to sign their names  --  the Post Office will have a record of the delivery.

i received a phone call from this number at 4:30 pm. on 11/4. I was on another call and couldn't answer. I tried to call back twice and was disconnected both times with no answer.

3 or 4 times a day for months to my parents, asking for me. I don't owe any debts, and don't live there. They told them but they keep calling. How do we stop this?

This is a new number I now have on these dumb idiots!  So far I have 94 numbers tracked from PORTFOLIO RECOVERY!!  Honestly can't believe how they call from different areas of the US.  With so much news going on about the NSA leak and now how the President is apologizing to foreign leaders, why can't the NSA hack into PORTFOLIO RECOVERY and see what's going on here!

Number called, no message.  I don't answer unidentified calls, and have started looking up unknown numbers online.  I have blocked other numbers from this company, so it appears they are circling me.  Won't work!

Get google voice,  and just give them that number.. then block them ALL as they come in...

Yes, it is ILLEGAL by the FDCPA. They can only call between the hours of 8a-8p as far as I know and can only call once per day and that is ONLY if you truly owe them whatever "debt" they claim you do. Even then, they should not be calling. In order to collect a debt legally, they must FILE A COURT ORDER so don't EVER pay these f****ng piece of s***. They get around the DNC list by making fake numbers on a google dialer for free. They abuse the phone system to extort people out of money. The ramifications of their actions can be found in Title 15 USC section 1692. They can be fined up to $1000 PER CALL.

Portfoolio Recovery experts need to get their act together. They want donations for their recovery facility, but they are flubbing it. Poor little vermin...best not to speak to them, as their intelligence level is so low that they will try to use anything you say to get their slimy paws on the contents of your bank account. They went out and bought a printout from some bank, showing written-off debts on ancient credit cards. That is entirely their problem, not yours. Now they want you to contribute to their coffers. Do not even talk to them. Portfoolio, sober up!

RE: Portfolio Recovery - I use Call Control from everycall.us.  They have a database of these numbers that syncs with my phone.  It catches most of them.  I got one today that it didn't so I just reported it, now it's in their db.  I found it a lot easier than trying to keep my own list.

Yeah they keep calling me for someone I don't know, just like Nicole, they keep saying I know them and I have never heard of the person they are calling for. Next time they call putting it on three way with police. Told them I was going to do that too so they are fully aware 404 865 3326 number

Just got a call from this number, phone identified it as "PORTFOLIOREC".  I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer.  They did not leave a message.  Called at 9:15 AM on Sunday!  I do not owe money to anyone, not even a mortgage or car loan.  I paid off my home loan in 1998.

They called earlier and lady asked for J and I asked who was calling and she gave me her name. She then again asked for J and I asked what company was calling. She again gave her name and I said Ibget that but who are you calling from. She then asked if I was an adult and I said yes ans then she asked if I was J and I said maybe. She then said she would call back later. To bad I wont answer. Next time you wanna talk to me tell me who your calling from. I will gladly then talk to you.
