They tried to get me to change my cards - got to the point where they were on the line with me with Citicard and when I couldn't remember my password - they told me to call back and change it.  I then was scared and they called again and I said I wanted to cancel this and then another person came on the phone and laughed and was completely rude and said that my card was already charged the fee to get the lower rate.  I hung up and immediately called my credit card companies and cancelled the cards - there were no recent charges - thank God!  Why can't these people be stopped?

See reply to Carolyn. My call from the 406-219-2301 number, also clr id Montana was also breaking up & poor quality, "Paolo" spoke good english but definitely had a hispanic accent. I'm thinking he really may have been calling from Orlando, FL and using a Montana number...maybe cell? There are a lot of scam companies in the FL area also.

I got the same call only from 406-219-2301. When asked caller said was Paolo, when I asked where he was calling from he said Orlando even though the caller id said Montana. I got the same speech, I decided to play along and when asked if >$3000 I said yes, he asked what card, sd visa. He said he represented all cards, rattled some commons off, and several banks including citibank and wells fargo. He wanted to know what my credit limit was on the card, when I sd I didn't know he pushed for a number, when I asked what that had to do with lowering my interest rate he said I had to have at least $700 available on my credit limit to quailfy..ding ding! doesnt take a rocket scientist to know he was looking to see how much $ he could stiff me for. They called - I let it go to answering machine to find out who it was - they did not leave a message.

If you call the telemarketers back, they are then free to call you without repercussions from the Federal government UNLESS you tell them to take your name and number off their list.

I've been receiving numerous telemarketing calls to my phone, which is registered with the Government's Do Not Call List, and also telemarketing text messages.  You must keep a log of the number, date, and time of the call.  If they persist in calling past the 30 days grace period after you tell them to stop, they should be reported to the DoNotCall Registry - http://www.DoNotCall.gov - and they can be fined up to $11,000 per violation once reported.  You must provide as much information as possible - who called you, dates, times, telephone numbers, what it was about, etc. for the Feds to be able to prosecute and fine.

Telemarketers are governed by Federal laws requiring them to only call during certain hours ( 8 am to 9 pm in whatever your time zone is) and requiring them to NOT call if you tell them to remove your name and number from their list.

I don't think the government is doing enough to help, we need to help ourself and each others.

There is a real slime ball out there called Robert Seiter, if that is the scums real name - his sick number which I believe is his cell is 623-224-5598.  He is the worst bottom of the barrel scum sucker you will ever find.  I played him at his own game and kept calling him back every 15 seconds and every time asked him if he was having fun yet?  Obviously he became mad as hell and got incredibly insulting using every type of profanity imaginable, so I asked him how long he had been out of prison, made him even more mad.  I enjoyed every minute of it and this is what I do now with unsolicited calls, play them at their own game and they hate it.  Another great thing to do is buy a loud whistle, preferably one with a pea in it and blow it as hard as you can in their ears, deafen the bastards and create nothing but misery in their lives, I love it.  The only way to fight back with these low life law breakers is to play them at their own game.  I also get calls from 406-219-2636 and I call them every fifteen seconds and then hit 1!

trying to contact about lowering rates.. called my credit card... not from them.. representing MC they said....

The firs time this number called I pressed "3" which was supposed to remove me from their list.  It did not.  On the latest call, I spoke to an "operator".  "Corey" claimed he was calling from Tallahassee, FL.  He claimed that my card carrier called me.

406-219-2636 found it on the caller ID they hung up with no message when voice mail answered. I never answer in person unless I know the caller.

I received a call from this # today, with an automated message stating they would lower my credit card interest rate. I pressed 1 to find out more info, since I suspected it was a scam. I was correct. They kept telling me they would lower my rate, and I kept asking them which credit card they were talking about lower my rate for. They made a few incorrect guesses about the type of card I own, the balance, and the interest rate. When I told them that their guesses were incorrect, they hung up.
