"Rachel from Cardholder Services". Caller ID is fake. The machine that lets scammers put any caller ID number in costs $15 or less. And they user robo-dialers. If it is your home phone, don't answer unless it is someone you know. If it is your mobile phone, consult your manual. My LG600G (pre-paid TracFone) lets me put familiar numbers into 3 groups, each group can have a different ringtone. So if you are an "unknown caller", you get the "default" or "unknown caller" ringtone, and I just don't answer. Pretty good for a $15 phone. Most cell phones probably have even better screening features than this.
"Heather" called me to lower my interest rates for about the 40th time and I could not help myself. I pressed 1 to speak to a CR. Obviously that took me to India because this guy was totally not in touch with english. I told him that Heather said my opportunity was about to expire and that my personal preference was that his fly by night company would expire and he could kiss my ....... This idiot has called back 4 times to make sure I understood his pronunciation of mother.......Take this stuff as a game and totally abuse the telemarketer and sooner or later they will quit the job. There is a certain amount of satisfaction in ruining these people's day.
you think thats somethin...they just called me and when i told them i didnt have a credit card the guy told me he was going to come to my house and f*** my mother,not once not twice but four times this sikk b*****d called and my mom is in the I.C.U. unit in the hospital,If anyone finds out who's making these calls pleeze let me know so i can get some justice,whether it be by legal means or good ol street justice....
My Mother, Joy McCrory, was almost taken in by this scam. My Mother is handi-cap and a care giver steap in on the conversation and put a stop. And then this person even called backed and said some really grude things. Where does this stop....................
It is enought to make me sick to my stomach to think with all the tech. out their, this person can still continue this very sick thing!!!!!!!!!!

Here is how they try to get you: The guy told me that he was calling about my Chase card. I told him I didn't have a Chase card. He said it was a mastercard. At one point in the conversation I told him that I only had cards from Capital One and Fifth Third Bank. (I know - STUPID!)
At this point he said he had my account number beginning with 5178 05 and could I verify the rest of the numbers. (I told him I wouldn't and he eventually hung up on me.) The trick is that all of Capital One's master cards begin with those numbers so he really didn't have my account number. Don't let them fool you!
hit 1 wait for live person then blast an air horn in their ear. Call the FTC and report then send in report to your Attorney Generals office. They will not stop until we all do something about it. These are 6 numbers they have: 720/409-2532, 347/218-0531, 303/249-9700, 513/417-0498, 406/244-9078, 612/222-7091.
Received a call from so called Credit card services making a statement that they lower interest rates on credit cards from all banks and that they already have the balances on your credit cards, if you give them the credit card number ,with the highest balance they will lower the rate , they won,t ask you for personal information
like your mother,s maiden name, they won,t ask you for the code on the back of your card, they will just verify the amount you owe on the card in order to lower your rate
then , they go on to tell how you pay on your card , I see you pay on your card by check
may I Have your routing number, and when you refuse they call you a stupid

Just a little FYI--- if you are forwarding the calls from your home phone to your Verizon Wireless, you are getting charged for the calls that do come through.
Just curious-- are you getting charged for the calls that get "blocked?" If not, that is pretty slick!
I'm on a do not call list. I received an unsolicited call from DOLLNURSREY (971-373-0186) regarding a credit card offer with some group unknown to me. I listened long enough to get a rep. and rudely told her to "kiss my ***". My mistake, I agree. Moments late my phone rings again from "Call Center" (406-224-9078) and it was the rep. I had just spoken with. She said two words - "F**k you" and hung
up. I think the situation is somewhat humorous and I shouldn't have said what I did, but I have a problem with companies not honoring the don't call list. To receive a call back of the nature I did is a little disturbing . I've forward a longer version of this to the Texas PUC and the National Do Not Call group. Maybe something will happen.

receiving calls from this number and tried to call them back, but call goes through but no sound or connecting with any kind of message; did not answer when it called the first time. Also got call an hour later from a 612 area code...same thing.
this call showed on my caller ID, which said that it was from "credit services".
since i don't need their services, i figured i'd try to call back and get onto their do not call list.

Same garbage as all the other posters above. I am on the DNC list; have been for years... I still get these scam calls anyway. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.
I love that idea wish something would work. My complains came back with a reply that there was not enough info to act on. Now blocking this number.

AT&T caller id listed as "Unknown Name". I let it ring - it rang for 1 whole minute. Until, I had to press mute on my landline. I nor anyone in my household uses credit cards, we're strictly cash and debit card people. No interest in credit cards, never have never will.
My caller ID read PROCEDURES before the number. I didn't answer.

3 years of calls with "final notice" on a chance to lower the rates on the balances on my credit cards. When I select the option to be removed, they call again anyway. When I try and talk to them, they hang up on me.
Like everyone else I am getting sick of these calls and since no government agency seems to be able to do anything about it I simply refuse to answer. What I do is google the number to see who it is and if I want to then and only then do I call them back
caller id said unknown name well I don't know it either so I did not bother to answer the phone any idiot that doesn't know who they are can't possibly know why they are calling me
everyday and again today I got from 406-224-9078 saying " Last chance to lower your credit call bills......" There was no option to out out again except press 1 to talk to live person. This is a clear violation of federal rule. Whenever I call back asking them to put me on Do NOT CALL list, person on the line mostly hangs up did it again today. This is very frustrating, irritating. I hope Govt tighten some rules to keep them making these nuisance calls.

Great post and I have received the same call. When I was giving a choice to press 1 to speak with a life person I did so and a young fellow's voice identified as Mike and I uttered the word please as soon as I did the phone went dead. I called back the number 406-224-9078 and did not get a signal or a ring as if the call went no where. I feel this is harassment at the lowest level and it generates revenue to all parties involved (telecommunication company, hired personnel, & those behind the scheme) so that is why there is no enforcement to stop them or enforce the Do not call. It's unfortunate that the burden is on the general public at large whom have to come up with innovative ideas or go through the expense of changing our phone number to put an end to this type of charades. I am glad to have this site where we can share our experiences and learn new approaches to combat this S$@#
i tried calling back the 406-224-9078 number and there wasn't even a dial tone. Don't know who these people are and don't want to know. Please get them out of business asap.
This call came to my cell phone and was a recorded message telling me I must call them or my credit card interest rate will go up. I DO NOT HAVE ANY OPEN CREDIT CARDS AT THIS TIME. I hit 0 & a male voice with an accent answered. I asked the name of the company & asked why they called. He said because I am carrying over $3000 on my mc & visa and my rate is over 10%. I said that it was false & asked for the name of his company. He insisted it was true that my balance is over $3000 and when I asked for the name of the company again, he hung up on me.
I registered a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry.
