I'm on the "Do Not Call List" though I don't know what good it does as I still get these calls on my home # and now on my cell.  I have tried everything I can think of to get then to stop calling me.  Maybe if so many did not fall for these scams they would stop bothering people.  I read some of the comments that suggest blocking them and low and behold I discovered that my simple no nonsense, pay used (so that means I pay every time Rachel and her crooked buddies call me), cell phone does that too.  Thanks for the tip, let's hope that the last of Rachel and her other crooked buddies (at least on the cell phone) .

instead of your waste of time advice, follow this. Stating they are Discover now is fraud, which is a felony. Record call,  contact media, authorities, Discover Card and your state attorney general. Supposedly they are in California. Soon as they call me again I will hit Facebook up with the recording.

THE BAD NEWS: Card Services calls aren't going to stop anytime soon.

THE GOOD NEWS: You can retaliate, reduce the misery, and even have some fun.

RETALIATE:

Waste these turkeys' time. Keep them on the line by acting like an interested prospect. Give them bogus data, including a combination of two different credit card numbers, scrambled Social Security digits, and a modified ZIP Code. Important: provide a credit card company's real 800 number.

After they call the credit card company, you can give them the same credit card info as before with two of the numbers transposed, thus causing them to make a second verification call. Or you can respond, "Guess what ... H-O-O-N-N-K-K [from a $6 air horn] you've been PRANKED! Call back tomorrow for more bullshot." Now they're the butt of your joke.

REDUCE THE MISERY:

Landlines. Enroll for the free service at nomorobo.com. Simultaneous ringing, a free feature many providers offer, enables nomorobo to receive, answer and, after one ring, automatically hang up on nuisance telephone numbers.

Cell phones. Block the number, an option that becomes available on the iPhone if you click on the "i" on the right in the list of recent calls and scroll to the bottom. Unfortunately, Card Services will keep calling from new spoofed numbers, which eventually should motivate you to retaliate.

HAVE FUN:

Turning the tables on the perpetrators with mischievous deception and the news they've been duped provides instantaneous vigilante satisfaction. Plus you serve your fellow call recipients by slowing down this evil operation's efforts to defraud them.

Record the call.  Stated they are Discover. Give credit card info and record entire conversation. Once they have a credit card processing company in.your bill, they are caught. Saying Discover is fraud despite all the other illegal things they do. File a police report and a lawsuit against credit card processor and the company doing the transaction. By law the credit card processor must have a copy of the telemarketing script. Same call from 406 838 9570. Stated dont hang up and it was Discover. Older woman named Rosemary. I told her they break state and federal law and asked. who and where were they, She said Card Services. I told her if she hung up I would make sure she went to jail. She got worried and said they are in Orange County. I asked Florida or California. She said they were in Costa Mesa and hung up. RECORD THE CALL AND FORWARD TO DISCOVER AND CALL YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT. I SURE WILL AS SOON AS THEY CALL AGAIN. Your local authorities should file an identity theft report for yiu.

Recording dont hang up and it Discover. But it is not Discover. Woman named Rosemary who sounded older. I said they are fraud and I wanted info and if she hung.up she would be in trouble. She said they are in Orange County. I said Florida or California. She said they are in Costa Mesa. Record the call. They already break state and federal laws. Stating they are Discover will get Discover to sue.  Give credit card info and record entire conversation. Once they have a credit card processing company in.your bill, they are caught. Saying Discover is fraud despite all the other illegal things they do. File a police report and a lawsuit against credit card processor and the company doing the transaction. RECORD THE CALL AND FORWARD TO DISCOVER AND CALL YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT. I SURE WILL AS SOON AS THEY CALL AGAIN.

Yep, same old cardmember/cardholder services scam.  I just wasted 28 minutes of their time with bogus information.  Here?s a great way to waste as much of their time while minimizing the time you waste with these criminals:
* First a little homework.  Look up any 2 credit card company?s first 4 credit card digits and customer service 800 numbers (there?s a list on wikipedia).  Make up the rest of the information.  It helps to write it down for use later.  Also be prepared with a fake name, fake billing zip code, and fake last 4 digits of your SS number.
* When they call, be receptive to their offer.  Make sure the amount of debt  and interest rate you tell them you have satisfies their requirements (about $5000 over 2 cards, 19% interest usually works).
Supply the info for a bogus card.  They will go away to ?verify?.  When they come back and say it doesn?t work, re-supply the same credit card number with 2 numbers switched (but not the first set of 4 numbers).  When they come back again unable to verify the card, have them try the second bogus card, and repeat the whole process.
* At this point it has probably been 25-30 minutes.  Sometimes they just disconnect, sometimes they ask to call you back (I give them the bogus number they called me on), or sometimes this is an opportunity to get into a swearing match with them.

Initially it was "Kevin", with a Hispanic accent. After he ran through my (false) number twice, the "Floor Supervisor" Heather Miller" came on. The call dropped, but then "John Ellison" called back from (458) 000-7543. He dropped the call placing me on hold, and called back again. Blamed "storms" for the disconnects. Advised me to call my provider, then he would call me back in 15 minutes.

I answered and "Michael" greeted me, same as "Rachel" usually does.  The same old credit card interest rate crap.
I pushed 1.  A female operator answered and asked if I wanted to lower my interest rate.  I said I'd like to speak with Michael.  She said he wasn't available.  I said I would only speak with Michael. She got mad and said she would make sure I would get a call from them, every day, for the rest of my life and hung up.
I thought that was funny.
I added the number to my call blocker app on my phone.

Credit cards should have id theft protection. Record calls with them. If you give credit card info and they process there will be a card processing merchant listed. By law the credit card processing company has to have a copy of the  scammers telemarketing script. The scammers also are portraying to be your credit card company. The credit card company can also file charges against them. If you are on the do not call list, the violation is $1500 per call. This can be through small claims court for under $100. You can go after the telemarketer and the credit card processing company. You can make money off this. They try to charge you about $1000 for something you can do yourself for free.

Caller ID spoofing should be illegal, and until a law is passed that it is a felony to falsify telephone identity information, these calls will not stop.  These guys just keep switching phone numbers so tracking them is difficult...the number displayed on caller ID is usually disconnected.

I like to waste "Rachel's" time so I played along.  After pushing 1 to speak with a scammer...errr...representative, I answered several questions then told her I had about $1 million dollars in credit card bills.  I have none, and she was not amused, but I caused them some frustration, as their incessant calls do me.

Demand your representatives do something about this.

It's the "Rachel from cardholders services" scam. They try to scam you out of your credit card numbers by claiming they can get your interest rate lowered. This scam as been going on for at least 3 years.

Why do you think WE are calling you?

This is a discussion forum where one can report or describe suspicious or unknown phone calls, but reporting them here does not stop the calling.  YOU have to take action to do that!

fFake lowering their credit card interest scam.  they call for multiple numbers all over the country, I block them, but they call from a different state. I finally waited and press the one to connect 2 a lady. She hung up on me when I kindly ask her to remove me and my number from the automated dialer list. Perhaps she can't do anything about it, but who can? If I call 1 800 do not call, it doesn't keep me off the list.

These criminals are here in America; not Africa or Russia.  Same BS - they say they will lower your credit card interest, but they ask for your credit card and social security numbers.  They won't stop calling me.  They are English speaking Caucasians.  Someone is going to find them someday, and kill them.  I can't wait to hear the good news.
If anyone out there is suicidal, please find these people and kill them.  You will be doing a terrific public service.
