Thanks Retired Telephone Man!
Great tip to get off these anoying call lists. I confirmed with my friends that no one I knowperfers using v-mail over texting a message, so good bye 1980's, I'm making the jump to only recieving text or e-mail messages from now on!

They call and hang up. My number is in Do not call list. Still, I am getting calls daily.

This number showed up on my caller id. I answered, then hung up within 5 secs of hearing the message. Annoying.

Disney trip scam for 200 randomly picked lucky stooges. Left a 3 digit winning code and press 1 for operator. Waited for operator and then requested a bl0w j**.

Called me at 6:30 am. No shame. I get calls from Florida numbers on a regular basis. I never answer.

Just called my cell and another number (321-734-6986 FL, USA) called my cell earlier today. I don't answer numbers that I don't recognize and neither call left a message. SO annoying!

THIS CALL CAME THROUGH ON MY SAMSUNG GALAXY S II SMART PHONE. I DID NOT ANSWER IT. SO, I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE FEATURE "REJECT CALL"-- PRESSED THAT. WILL NO LONGER BE BOTHERED. P.S. THIS FEATURE DOES WORK, BECAUSE I HAD TO "REJECT" A TEL. 3 LAST WEEK. IF YOU ARE GETTING THIS CALL ON YOUR LAND LINE, I HIGHLY RECOMMED PURCHASING THE PANASONIC CORDLESS WHICH I HAVE. THIS PHONE HAS IN IT'S MENU THE CAPABILITY TO "BLOCK" A NUMBER. THIS, TOO IS A SUCCESS. WHEN A "BLOCKED NUMBER" CALLS-- IT RINGS ONCE AND IS NOT PUT THROUGH!!! I HAVE THE PANASONIC MODEL #KX-TGA652. I'M SURE THERE IS A NEWER MODEL AVAILABLE.

Get a call at least once a week from this number or a variation of. Today was the first time there was a message. It definitely is a SPAM call. Something about a 4 day - 5 night vacation in Cancun.

This number keeps calling me about a loan offer. I have asked them to stop calling me and have informed them that I am on the "don't call list". Yet they call about once a month.

Some of us can't do that. It might be the most effective way, but it is also effectively impossible for those of us who need our phones and get important calls from numbers we don't recognize right off the bat (say, if we're selling something to a nationwide buyer base).
I've started picking up the phone on these 800 numbers and then not saying anything. That seems to confuse them into hanging up.

People, the most effective way to remove yourself from a calling list is to not answer the phone, and not have voice-mail pick up the call. These auto-dailers have been programmed to automatically, over a 3 to 5 calling cycles, remove any tel number from its database that consistently do not have a live answer and/or do not route to v-mail. That is because there are still millions of land-line telephone numbers out there that are associated with basic oneway/dial-out alarm circuits, and these numbers are never answered, and never route to v-mail. (Same auto removal will happen if these dailers keep getting an old FAX machine handshake tone).
So, give it about 2 weeks of letting these calls go to nothing/timeout/fast busy, and BINGO! the dailer itself will conclude your number must be an old alarm circuit or other such non-human entity and error out your tel# from its database. I stopped using v-mail over 3 years ago for this very reason, and now I only accept messages via text or e-mail.

didn't answer, left voicemail, "if you are 1 of the first 100 callers, you may win a trip to Cancun, blah, blah, blah" - " if I press 1 it will connect me with them, if 2, they will remove me from their call list" - yeah, right!

If you are on the National No Not Call Registry, also take the time to report the call at the following website: complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
Get the b*****ds fined.

Got a call from 407-338-2702 at 9:36 PM. I didn't answer and let the voicemail get it. It was some kind of robo call, and the message started as soon as my voicemail picked up, so my outgoing message blocked part of what they had to say. The only part of it I heard was "To be removed from our list, press 2."
