I received a phone call yesterday regarding a criminal charge against me for not paying a payday loan for the amount of $965.00. If I don't pay this amount within 2 hours I will be arrest it and I asked what is the company name and they give me America Cash.

I knew it.  And yet another number from Portfolio Recovery.  No message of course.  Called about 7:30pm last night while I was trying to rest after a long day.  The Caller ID just said "Unknown Name".

These scumbags have been calling my number (that I've had over 10 years) looking for someone else for about 2 years now.  I never answer these calls.  They started calling after a few other agencies called, but those companies gave up after a few weeks or months.  But not them.

They keep calling and I keep not answering.  It's either them or some other agency.

Even though I never answer these type of calls, I always like to view comments on the number.

I get a lot of these kinds of calls: Charities, political campaigns, surveys, etc.

I have an "old fashioned" phone and "analog" service I guess.  I can only block up to 10 numbers, and ONLY from my "service area."  So these won't be blocked.  I just hang up on them or don't answer.  I shouldn't have been to spend more money on fancy phones to block these calls, when they shouldn't be calling anyway.  And why keep calling a number for years that never gets an answer from a live person?  $%^&*(#@ company.

The VA couldn't find their own butts with both hands and a flashlight, IMHO.

They call at all hours from all kinds of different #s about some supposed debt that was from an elder fraud crime commited against my dying parents and my family by two "care-givers".My fairly affluent parents died penniless while I was going through chemo so now my Viet Nam Vet husband and I can barely afford food. Even if we could, our fridge went.We had to move into my parent's to care for them, got stuck with all the fraudulent debt,can't afford medical care,VA can't find my husbands correct records and would we would rather starve than go on welfare(and sometimes we do).We go without hot water, heat in the winter, and are so poverty stricken that we rarely even have gas money. We HAVE to have phone as I have severe RA,hubby is full of agent orange tumors growing bigger by the minute and I just had a stroke on Easter Sunday( not that I can afford to seek medical attention)All that, we can handle and do the best we can.We have each other, BUT THESE PEOPLE ARE DRIVING US TO MADNESS There's a special place prepared for the entire firm in the afterlife...that is if they even have souls.

Interesting, see above on this page  -- the comments on this number stopped in early February of 2012, and then began again this month, July 2013, a gap of almost a year and a half, during which this number was not being used by Portfoolio Recovery experts. What gives?  

Also, the vermin have reverted to pre-Attorney General consumer protection office orders that they identify themselves in the caller ID, and have started once again showing up as UNKNOWN.  Wonder what these sleazebags are up to? Anyway, this is call #2 for the day, and call #361  !!!!!!! since these reeking slimeball pond scum declared, in the words of their dopey lawyer Pearson, that they had "decided to cease collection efforts." That was early September 2010, I think...almost 3 years ago.  I love to ignore these a$$hole$.

These people call me like 5 or more times a day.  I won't answer the phone because first of all, they don't leave a message and secondly, I don't know anyone from Florida or wherever they come from.  You want me to answer, leave a msg or else broke that finger that's dialing my number.

I have a parrot thats a good talker,  I just let them talk to him.

I have gotten calls from this same place for things that were charged 15 years ago.

I just added the number to my "call rejection" with my telephone provider. Now they can't through again.

Old number used (First noted in June 2011) by Portfolio Recovery Associates being used again.  This number is assigned out of Winter Garden, FL, used by sub-contractor associates hired out of state from corporate address hiding behind unlisted, VOIP numbers that are unregistered debt collector in the state the call is from to insure the caller cannot be located with a valid physical address.

I block all unwanted calls by using a "Digitone Call Blocker" that can be used between the wall jack and your phone, this allows the user to block any area code upto all ten digits.  Once the area code or number is blocked, your phone will never ring again from any unwanted caller.

But here's the thing with them.  They are collectors of what is referred to as "zombie debt", meaning the original bill has either long since been paid off, charged off, or received an agreement with the original debtor to not pursue it.  They go to these companies, purchase their ancient accounts, and get paid 60% of the amount they collect.  They've been hounding me for years for a credit card I paid off 14 years ago, directly to the original company.  I've sent them copies of the final payoff, a registered letter from the credit bureau, and several other pieces of paperwork.  They still continue to harass me.

This company calls and asks for a different person every time they call.

Constant hang-ups from various numbers on my home answering machine; all found (thru Google) to be debt collection agencies. Follow-up call to number listed above indications 'they' are looking for JANE DUFFY. I have had the same home phone number since the 1980s; never been anyone named Jane at that number.

Portfolio Associates is just fishing, and in the process annoying the heck of of people like me!!

Do a web search for "zombie debt collectors" without the quotation marks. Also you had better check your states laws on how long the debt stays on the books I was shocked to find out in my state it is 20+years. I got a call on an AX bill that was more than 20 years old. When the company I was working for sold it was months before the sent me my last expense check and I paid it in person and still have the canceled check in a frome to make me never to use my CC's for a company again. Its a joke. First tell them you want to only communicate by mail. Then send them a letter and ask them to prove they are authorized to collect.(by return receipt)

for those want to know how to block this guys , I use VOIP for my home lines and use a Asterisk server

I use the database function of asterisk to put these numbers in and when they call they get the number not in service message , it has really cut down on how often they call

I have no debt so they have no reason to call me just kept asking for my phone number and I refused... I do not and will not give out any information over the phone and you should not either...

I have call blocking already and can block all the things you mention for free.  Didn't have to buy a phone to do it, my cable provider does it for me.

I am a landlord and get countless collection calls for previous tenants, some of whom have not lived here for many years.  The collectors trace my address from who knows where.  I get one set of calls (multiple robo callers) that say a name that nobody in this area EVER remembers living here, and I've had the number for eight years.  I just keep blocking the numbers (my cable phone service will block unlimited numbers).  I also get calls trying to collect from me on accounts I have never had in my life.  What a bunch of vultures.

I have had the same home number and the same business phone number for over 15 years and my home and my business lines (both published) seem to be on every call list imaginable.  I bought a Panasonic call blocking phone for my home and I bought a Uniden call blocking telephone for my business.

NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH TELEMARKETERS.   THEY CAN?T GET THROUGH!

We can stop these telemarketers IF we all buy a call blocking phone.
