I just received a the text, wondering how they got my cell phone number! Highly irritated. My daughter goes to the University of Colorado ( CU) , so I thought this was a text from the university. Glad I checked this sight first

Both my wife and I got the this text (N Indiana here, too, on VZW)
From: 204312345@vtext.com
Msg: (Call: 4073477900 Beacon-CU)
Obviously a phishing attempt since the same number has different banks/cu.

Just had the same text, but didn't call the number. Apparently a lot of others have received calls/texts as well. Hopefully, people are smart enough not to give out their credit card and bank information!

I received a text message from: 204312345@vtext.com.
The message stated "Call 4073477900 Beacon-CU" I being a cyber investigator did to see what the fraudsters are up to. It wanted me to enter my credit card number because "It had issues and needed to be reactivated" I entered a test card and it wanted my ccv and expiration date. If this was really your bank they would contact you with a live person and would never ask for this information. Maybe only the last four digits to verify that it is your card with a problem.
This is a rather worrisome issue. So I would recommend that everyone that reads this notify their neighbors, relatives, and friends so they cannot be compromised.

I also got 2 text this evening one from 204312345@vtext.com to call 407-347-7900 for Beacon-CU and another from 561302@vtext.com to call 616-247-5774 BeaconCU. I don't even do business with Beacon CU or an credit union for that matter.

Yes ..... you can bar numbers from texting you. We had to do that.....it doesn't cost anything to do it either. (we have Verizon....no charge). Call your carrier and have it barred.

I got the same message about Resource One Credit Union. And I live in California, have never lived in Florida *or* ever heard of Resource One Credit Union. I wish I knew how my number was obtained. Because that is who I would take this up with. This is nonsense. What really irks me is that my cellphone isn't a CA area code and these jerks don't call at legal business hours, i.e., I get calls before 9 am. Not cool.
I don't asnwer, but it's super annoying.

Are people really dumb enough to fall for this? and with so many complaints why does the number still work? goes to show nobody cares about stopping this crap as long as they pay their bill.
