Several calls on my caller ID. Finally answered and listened. Pushed a button to get a 'live' person and got someone with a heavy accent asking for "Jody." I told him he had the wrong number and had been calling frequently and I'd like the calls to stop. He asked to verify my phone number and read it to me. I asked to verify the fact that I've asked that the calls from this number to stop. He asked me to hold again and I hung up.

I love it... I'm stuck in a box....classic. Thanks for suggesting it. I have been getting calls from multiple collection agencies for a guy with the same name as mine... I've had "them" give me the last 4 digits of the ssn in question and it's not mine... but only one company has actually stopped calling me... now, I'm just answering and repeating every word they say (e.g.  "can I speak to xxxx", I answer back with: "can I speak to xxxx", then I say "how's it going on?" and "it's so nice to hear from you, how have you been, I can't wait to see you... how have you been..."  etc. etc.) I just monopolize the conversation... they usually get tired and say goodbye. I'll try your suggestion next.... good luck to you...

The first time I received a call from this number on my cellphone, I got the please hold for someone message.  Dazed, I shrugged and hung up.  The number called back and this time left the Janis message concerning a personal matter.  Now, I was confused, who would be calling me on my cellphone over a personal matter like this?  Anyway, these numbers have been calling non stop for the last few months and I purchased a call filter, that will pick up and hang up automatically for me.  This did the trick, but I have now seen three different numbers.

A few weeks ago, I was bored at work and I see the number come up... this time I smirked and answered in a small childs voice...  "Hewwo?  I'm stuck in a box..." and they didn't know what to say!  Everytime they asked me a question, I repeated what they said and then mentioned I was still stuck in a box.  I couldn't hold my composure and eventually just hung up... sweet revenge.

Fast forward to two days ago... I now see an 866 number calling and no message, weird... well I was on a work call, but on hold, when it came up on my cell phone and I decided to answer... when I hear the darn hold for someone message again.  I think to myself ugh... so I hold... my other call picks up and I mute my cellphone, but leave it on speaker.  To my amazement a person with a thick accent gets on the phone and says, "Can I speak to MY NAME..."  Keep in mind that I have them on mute and speaker, but my jaw drops, who the hell would be calling me on personal matter on my cellphone, when my credit is perfect... and why all of a sudden now and how did they get my information on an unpublished cellphone number?

Anyway, now I feel like playing with them a little more to find out who, what, and where... without giving them any of my information.  I'll keep you all posted.

My suggestion... once you're over the initial irritation, tell them you're stuck in a box in a little childs voice!

Same as other complaints; leaving the same message every other day: extremely long recording that repeated itself asking to call back re: important personal matters(No details).  No company name or request to speak with anyone specific and they don't say who they are calling for.
How can you make it stop?  If it is debt collectors they have the wrong # and person as I have no outstanding debt.

...if all of us would spread a rumor that Ocwen Financial is reputed to be on the verge of bankruptcy their stock price would take a good hit and cut the CEO and officers bonuses. They list on NYSE ticker symbol OCN. Spread the word to every finacial chat site on the web.

if you want to REALLY piss them off like they piss thousands of innocent people off. Go to stock exchange chat rooms and tell people that their company is on the verge of bankruptcy. They list on the NYSE and their ticker symbol is OCN. If hundreds or even thousands of you people will spread that rumor, the stock price will eventually take a good hit. Happy spreading!

Same as everyone else.  Recording telling us to call about important financial matter.  We've call blocked, but would expect they will use another number.
They were calling using another FL number that we also blocked.

We get many calls from this number on my son's cell phone. Usually no one talks but one time a man with an accent asked for someone and I told him he had the wrong number. He then asked for my name which I refused to give him. When I call the number back it is out of service. Who do you report this to?

I have just recently been getting calls from this number and from
Melanie Rodriguez
3121 S Semoran Blvd
Orlando, FL 32822-2676
407-249-1572
asking for someone I don't know.
They ask me for my name, but I hang up on them, or in the case of 407-388-1070 don't return the call.  So far this week there have been 16 calls from these two.  The live caller, Rodriguez, is very rude and speaks in a heavy guacomo accent.

I need to clarify my last statement as it is incorrect.  It should state that:  'Ocwen Federal Bank has been sued for millions of dollars in a Connecticut federal court for racketeering, breach of contract, unfair debt collection practices, overcharging borrowers bogus service and late and escrow fees, harassment, and mail fraud. The lawsuit is Hanson v. Ocwen, a class-action complaint filed in the Federal District Court in Connecticut [Docket #3:02CV960]. The lawsuit seeks punitive damages in the amount of $1.5 BILLION.

Well just like the rest of you...i got a call from this 407-388-1070 number and I answered it and no one said anything.  So I just layed the phone down on the sofa and continued to watch TV.  Later I picked up the phone and there was a busy signal.  This company is sure busy at making phone calls so I see.  Maybe we should tell them that we are the police department and they have just contacted a number at a murder scene and their phone number would be traced and to expect the police within an hour.

I received a call from 407-388-1070 with a long message telling me that "someone from my number" needs to call 866-218-3885 in regards to something "personal".  They didn't give their name or indicate who they were trying to reach.   I immediately got online, entered 866-218-3885 and found that they are OCWEN Federal Bank in Orlando/Fort Lauderdale.  Their company is currently facing a class action lawsuit by the US government for $700 million + for fraud, racketeering, and other unlawful practices!!

I then called the 866# and spoke with a man with an Indian accent. I told him my call was being monitored and that I had just researched his company on the Net finding very unfavorable information. I also told him I was going to report him to the State Attorney General as well as the FTC.

Initially he was annoyed with me, but then assured me that he would remove my number immediately from the calling list and no one would call me again.  I told him I was still going to report him anyway as I have more then six calls on my caller ID from his company.  When I tried to call those numbers back I got a message that the phone had been disconnected....on THREE different phone numbers!

I just started receiving these calls 3 days ago. They call at least 3 times a day at regular intervals. I do not answer since my caller ID only displays (407) 388-1070 & Casselberry FL. My voice mail has messages left by that # stating things like, "Please call regarding personal information...(rambles on) & "please have somebody from this phone number call back" I have no intention of calling back because the message contradicts itself. If it's personal information, then why can just "somebody from this phone number" return the call? After all- it's "personal"
I have call blocking & will use it thanks to this board.

I suppose you could classify me as an elderly woman (although I deny it).  I've been getting recorded calls for the past 2-3 weeks at all times of the day & evening from Janet, who informs me I can either punch a # to speak w/"agent" who needs info. from me or I can 1-866-218-3885.  Usually I've just hung up.  Today was the first time I've listened to the entire message.  I intend to file a complaint w/our state Attorney General's Office.  I read elsewhere in this site that the caller is Ocwen Business, a collection agency.  Don't know if this is true or not.  If so, they would have no reason for calling me.

407-388-1070 calls my phone several times a day now as of 12 Sep 07.  The one time I answered no one said anything on the other end.  I've stopped answering the phone and they don't leave a message on my machine.  I only know it's this number calling because my phone company has a "last number received" feature.

The same number called 19 times today before 3:00 PM. I answered on call 20. I hit 1 to talk to a human. A man with a foreign accent wanted to talk with a female with the same last name about a bad debt. I told him that no one with that name had ever lived at my address or had my telephone number(I have lived here for 30 years). He asked for my Social Securtity number and I told him I would not give out personal info and told him again about my number and address. He asked for my address and I refused. If he had a bill, my address would have been on it. He asked for my name and I again told him that I would give out no info. I have perfect credit and do not owe any bills. Where do these people come from?

About 3 times per week I get a message on my answering machine stating that someone from my phone # needs to call back 866-218-3885.  I have never called the # back because on the message they don't state who they are.  I know that if my bank or any other financial institution that were legit wanted to speak to me they would leave their business name.  I want to know how to get off of their calling list.  I am not sure what the point of being on the Do-Not-Call-List is if all these companies just keep calling anyway.

I have distinctive ring tone on my line, but I do not have a phone w/a caller ID screen, so I only know that it is a long distance call, but not what the # is.

I received a message that I needed to call (866) 218-3885 regarding "important financial information."  At no time did the person speaking give a first and last name, nor did she talk about the company that she represented.  Also, she never referred specifically to the person she sought to speak to only "the person at this number."

This is clearly a scam!  Don't ever give out any personal information over the phone to anyone who you have not contacted yourself!

It's sickening that there are so many cons nowadays.

Either mess back with them for the heck of having some fun on these LOW LIFES from INDIA or just blow the whisle on them and hang up.
The company they clam to be calling for is in Orlando FLA.
Ocwen Financial Services
12650 Ingenuity Drive Orlando, Florida, 32826

and this company goes back to being listed as a corporation by the State of FLA. Check the state web site for DEPT OF STATE FLA. Lots of useful info on the state site. The corp address is in WPB Fl, but the callers are out of the Orlando & WInter Park area of central FL.
A william C Erbey is listed on the state of FL corp papers that the company has filed with the state as the CEO, maybe he would like some calls from the hundreds of PISSED off people that HIS employees call to.

Just work on the web to find the ansewers.
As for now, I'm jsut going to give back 10 fold on to those callers until they learn to get the right person to ask for or jsut stop calling.

OR maybe as some TX DPS personal have we should file a FEderal class action suit.

Good Luck.
PS. For the last 16 years my ID was used by an evil twin in fla. I used the web to find this person and then went to the police to clear up the mess. What ever you do, dont let it upset you. THEY ARE THE CRIMINAL AND THE CONSUMERS ARE JUST INOCENT VICTIMS OF THESE CLOWNS FROM INDIA.

IF they were a real and legit US business that did do collections, then I surly do not think that they would act like the IDIOTS that they are acting like.
A good collection company has lots of tools to track down the party that there seeking to collect on, and there are many good hard working AMERICANS that do this kind of work. So just remember that some people will cheat in life and do whatever it takes to steal from the good and hard working people.

Fighting these FRAUD callers:
Got 10 calls today from these IDIOTS, But I?ve decided to FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE.

We have been called many times from the #?s listed at the end of this message, and it?s always about a DECEASED person.
Our rule of thumb here is that when someone calls our home, THEY must and WILL have to ID themselves and not come on the phone asking thousands of questions.
THEY CALLED US AND THIS IS OUR RULES IN THIS HOUSE HOLD.

So therefore we then just TURN the tables and start to ask many questions back to the caller. I do try to be polite and speak in a tone of voice that the caller is use to, or an accent that they will understand. So show some kindness here to the ILLIGAL caller.

What we don?t understand is why some one would call about a person who has passed on. Maybe there are some dishonest people out there just trying to get info on this deceased person, so at this point, I?ll just play it safe and ask more questions.

Now sometimes the caller gets a bit hostile and a rude tone of voice and this is were some good old American Salt and Pepper can cure the issue. Most of these callers seem to come from a land where the former rule was or use to be a wee bit British or part of the empire. But that won?t stop me from talking to this caller. Maybe they need to have some tea and chill a bit or a slurpee from the local 7-11 store.

I know we all have different working habits and sometimes when these foreign sounding people call, and were out in the shed dressing one of the cattle for the upcoming winter season, and you have to stop and answer these callers, then I just explain that I?m dressing the cow for winter meals and would you call back. But this is when they become hostile and I?ll just hang up, then they call again. At this point, I?ll just ask them what don?t they understand about the English language or do they have cow )(*)_(* in their ears.

Once again my feeling is that you have called my phone and I don?t see why in the world I have to answer any of your questions until I know who called me.

Maybe it?s the opposite that they don?t know their rear's from a hole on the golf course.

Any way, just remember that a little HUMOR and UNDERSTANDING can be a healthy laugh for the soul...

Happy Listening

If you were in court, and you proved that the statute of limitations had run, most likely it would be dismissed...However, I have heard that they can still attempt to collect the debt, as long as the money is still owed, though you are not legally obligated to pay it after the statute of limitations has expired. Another story I read was that the Fed Trade Commission fined several collection companies for harassing people over old debts. They put Camco, one of the largest collection companies out of business, based on complaints. The reason why they never identify themselves is probably to circumvent the law. Look it up and read it - The Fair Debt Collections Act states that a debt collector must contact you in writing within five days of their first contact. If you kept a log of the dates and times they have called, and you recorded their messages you would have recourse to file a complaint against them at the Federal Trade Commission, and you would be awarded something like $1,500 for each violation. So if they called you 20 times, without writing to you within 5 days, with the required language, that would be 20 violations. But you would have to document it. Some answering machines play back a time and date stamp or voice. (Not Legal Advice)
